I think the hottest I rode in was about 115/120 degrees. That was either Scottsdale or Death Valley. I carry a light long sleeve shirt like in this video to wear over a t shirt on hot days. Alot of times I will soak (or run water on my shirt from a faucet) my long sleeve shirt in a sink and get it nice and wet. Feels good on hot summer days.

How is the difference in the wind push for the driver?

With the large windscreen, you feel no wind. I sold that Vespa and kept the large windscreen and put it in my 2007 GTS 250. This is my cold weather bike😆. Thanks for replying.

I have a 2024 DR same color. Does the windshield deflect bugs? I'm in Florida and the Love bugs are terrible. I don't mind the wind as long as it doesn't cause buffeting. I had a Kawasaki Versys 1000 and i know what you mean about not wanting to off road it. Still have my Harley though. Safe travels. I subbed so i can see what mods you do!
@TommyWasHere2 ай бұрын
Thanks for replying and subscribing. That windshield only blocks from about chest down ( I’m 5’10”). I took off on a short ride with my Harley pan style helmet and turned around to get my full face helmet… too much wind in face. If I get to ride the Trans American Trail this year I’m going to get a clip on extension windshield. This is a fun bike and I’m enjoying making it my own. I still got my 7 year old street glide though also … and my 18 year old 250 Vespa 😆. I’m really satisfied with the three bikes I have now ( wife limits me to 3 ). I should do a video on why I have and why I’m happy with these bikes 🤔. Thanks again, Ol Slick

How is the stability at 60
@TommyWasHere3 ай бұрын
I’m used to heavier bikes, so I also was wondering about the stability of this bike when I purchased it. I feel very comfortable on this bike at 65. If I go any faster I’ve got both hands on the handlebar and holding on. If I had to jump onto interstate traffic i would not be worried about it at all. If you look back on some of my videos, you’ll see that I had a Royal Enfield Himalayan and I sold it because one day I had to jump on the interstate and I thought I was gonna get killed 😆Thank you so much for your comments.

Yeah, if you look back on my videos, you’ll see that I had a BMW 1200 GS adventure and also a Honda Africa twin adventure. Those two bikes could really do well on the interstate. You crack me up. I bought that Parabellum windshield on your advice and it works great. For some reason, the wind just seems stronger at 60 than it did at 16, so the little windscreen gets that wind off my chest. I ran out of gas the other day. I guess I have been riding four months with the fuel valve in the "RES" position. Who knew? I know better now. But, it makes me think that I'd like to have the Acerbis tank. With that white Acerbis tank, can you see the fuel level through the side? I know you can with the natural color, but I think the natural-colored tank would detract from the Porcelain Pig's fine looks. hehe

Really helpful footage. I've watched numerous other vlogs, but found yours particularly useful as you highlighted the length of the specific bolts and use of washers. Unfortunately, I didn't get any instructions. My rack is now fitted perfectly. I opted for popping a small hole through the mudguard so that I could tidy up the extended rear indicator wires. Thanks again 👌

The RE Himalayan is approx. 75 pounds heavier than the DR650, both topped off with fuel, ready to ride......huge difference, especially when you consider the RE's 24 horsepower has to push around that additional 75 pounds.
@1vmxracer4 ай бұрын
You're DR is set up very closely to mine. I have Tusk pannier racks with Tusk Pilot bags, a medium Tusk top duffle and the small Tusk tank bag. I can get about 75 pounds of gear, all told. RMATV & ProCycle are my 2 go-to suppliers, having everything I could ever want for the DR. Also, I run 14/45 for gearing.....works soooo much better for off road.

Thanks for replying… sounds like like you have a great setup. I may go to the pilot bags, the ones I have on now are hard to retrieve gear from.

That sounds like a great setup. I've been considering the 45t rear and swapping 14t/15t front back and forth, depending on the ride for the day. I want to stay 525. Did you have to lengthen your chain

The DR is basically the same dating back over 20 years.....the major changes have been aesthetic only, with the mechanicals staying the same for a long, long time. That's what makes it so attractive for those of us that aren't concerned with having 150hp or being seen on the latest $30,000 adventure bike at the local Starbucks. All around GREAT bike. I have a very well set-up '21 and its bitchin'....

BTW If 60 is all you’re doing I think you won’t mind the 14 tooth front sprocket. Procycle will sell it but make sure you get the 3 hole retainer with it!! All in all its only like $35. I tried the 14 tooth and don’t like it because 65-70 is all I can do on highway otherwise its a little wound up over that. I rejetted my bike so that helps with stock gearing. Not so much clutch work being able to adjust fuel mixture screw and aftermarket needle with a tad bigger main jet.

Was the wind the same both days? The first day you said the wind was so strong it was blowing a rider all over the road. That could hurt mpg quite a bit and make the comparison tough to make unless wind conditions were the same.
@TommyWasHere5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. If you get a chance to rewatch the video please see that the day the wind was real bad was when I was riding at the Memphis scooter rally. I rode back to Blue Mountain a few days after that on a less windy day to make the comparison.
