Hi you two! 👋😃 That is great to hear you liked it and got inspiration from this... A great result. It certainly is very deep, for it's size... and I'm hooked on granular after using this now... So a GR-Mega is on the cards later down the line I think... You are very welcome indeed... I like what you are both doing! ;-)

Excellent brief tutorial, thank you, Rick. I had this synth on my wish list for a short time but then removed it because of the rather high price for a little box. And I don't use own samples (so far), so maybe granular synthesis is not for me. But very interesting to see and hear possibilities. I didn't know that it has a touch screen, btw.

Hello mate! 😃 good to hear from you again 🙏🏻 You’re very welcome I’m glad you liked it. Yes it’s been on my watch (obsess) list for a couple of years… I’m glad I got it. A lot of my field samples I use my iPhone voice memo app if I’m ok with the quality being rough and dirty… I usually warp it a lot anyway and background stuff often works well too. I do use a Zoom H4n for the times when I want a cleaner and higher quality recording… but either way I’ve been recording a lot of things as I’ve been going about normal life for a few years now… I’m glad I have done, I can use them this way now haha 😂 I thought it was pricey but I can now appreciate why it’s priced as it is. It has some powerful processing power, and the amount you can warp/pitch samples without them falling apart into harsh artefacts, is really good. Thanks a lot for checking it out my friend 🙏🏻 And yes, that touch screen makes it fast to use

@@rickhopkinson I thought I would do some field recordings and have bought a H4n over a year ago. I never used it apart from a few recent recording sessions at home when I didn't want to use the big mixer. Maybe some day I will go out and record some nature and zoo sounds. Good to know what the nanobox could then do with that. Your video and further explanation is very helpful and I appreciate your answer. 🙂

@@RainerMuenz I usually use the H4n more than my mixer too, the quality is a lot higher if I’m honest so when it’s just one instrument at a time I use it… Yeah just go out and try it. Record random stuff too as it’ll transform if you pitch it heavily… You are very welcome 🙏🏻 I’m very pleased the little tutorial side of the video helped… I’ll go into more detail soon too

@@rickhopkinson I am really looking forward to more videos with this little synth. I am just discovering the possibilities of the H4n, so I guess I will use it more often for recordings of just one synth (or two mono synths). To be honest, I sometimes had a problem with distortion and need to find out how to set it up in the menu. A mixer is more user friendly in this case. Especially my new toy, the Liven Ambient synth, makes me trouble when holding a drone note (getting automatically louder and louder and louder, depending on the delay/reverb settings). So much to learn and to discover...
@rickhopkinson
@rickhopkinson 6 күн бұрын
@@RainerMuenz Hi Rainer, I'm glad you're looking forward to what's to come about this synth... There is a recording volume/gain amount on one side of the H4n which you may need to lower (and keep the actually listening volume on the other side, higher. Maybe, or you may already be well aware of this... It's just the first thing that I would check if it was me. I'll offer help if I can, let me know how you get on with it. 🙂 Yep loads to learn but in a good way... and when we work things out after a time of struggle, it makes a good sense of achievement very real.

Hi Nian thank you 🙏🏻 😎👍… yeah this is a band project that is growing steadily behind the scenes between me and Kev. We’re called Shots At Two. This track was a bit more ambient than a pure Shots At Two track, so we decided to upload it to my channel. We will be making a specific band KZbin channel too relatively soon, so that’s gonna be exciting. We have a few tracks already made and they’re gonna be ace played live… well we think so anyway 😂 In some of my Sanctuary videos over the last year I’ve shown the band logo occasionally (on my laptop screen) to drop hints of what is coming alongside continuing with the Sanctuary project as well. I’ve considered a live show could open with a Sanctuary set and then follow it up with a Shots set… kind of merge it into one medley track, where the last and first tracks morph together and the mood shifts with an injection of energy and beats enter… I’m glad you like the band vibe too ❤ Hope you’re both well and happy 💎
