Thanks for sharing brother, great video! I'm recently looking for a career change to physiotherapy since i received my Canadian permanent residency and would like to get into healthcare. Although my cum GPA is 3.8/4.3, my undergrad sub-gpa is only 3.58 and both are from a Chinese university. I already finished my master's from Queen's in Mech with a GPA of 4/4.3 two years ago. Do you think if I apply PT program from Queen's, my master's GPA and my prerequisite course grades will be counted as part of sub GPA? I am concerning if it is possible to apply successfully with a lower sub GPA...

Hi there! Thank you so much for such a kind comment - I really appreciate it. The only other resource I used was my anatomy cue card deck. Other than that, it was all PTDI. @TheCanadianPhysioStudent
@TheCanadianPhysioStudent 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sweety. Thanks for the comment. This all depends on the type of learner you are. If you're someone who is more self-directed, self-practice is perhaps enough. On the other hand, if you're someone who needs a bit more structure, then a course/class is likely a very good option for you. Both work, you just have to find the best option for you. Hope this helps!

I've worked in healthcare in Diagnostic Imaging for the last 7 years and I'm looking to apply to PT school. I also have a strong personal background in training, movement and fitness. What do you think I could do to convey this effectively in the application? I've also done a few instances of shadowing PTs to see what the day to day life is like and explore PT areas of interest. Thanks!
@TheCanadianPhysioStudent
@TheCanadianPhysioStudent 2 жыл бұрын
Hi James! Thanks for the comment. Your experience sounds extensive! You can definitely get into PT school with a resume like yours. To convey this effectively in your apps, first look back on your experiences shadowing a PT and ask yourself what skills are important to be a PT. After doing that, think about if you've been able to hone those skills with your time in Diagnostic Imaging and your personal trainer background. Likely you have, because there are a lot of similarities between these 3 fields. Once you've figured that out, you need to talk about how these experiences will make you a good PT in the future. If you need more assistance, check out this blog on my website: physioschool.ca/blog/personal-statement-tips-for-physiotherapy-school-admissions/ Lastly, if you're looking for more in-depth, 1-on-1 feedback, we offer personal statement editing for a fee. Hello, I have a question. I've already graduated. For my 3rd and 4th Year (Fall/Winter terms) I had a full course load (20 courses in total). However, during my summer in between my 3rd and 4th year I took 2 courses. From my understanding, if we were to go back on the most recent 20 courses, my 18th, 19th, and 20th course would land in between my 3rd year Fall term. Does this mean the entirety of my 3rd year (all 10 courses) be averaged out? I'm so very lost. Thank you so much for the help and clarification

Hi Anthony, I have an important question. Are we allowed to take the PCE written test before we graduate from PT school? So my PT school finishes classes in early August but students do not graduate from the program until November. Can students register to take the written exam in October since they ae done classes? Or do we have to wait to write the PCE written test after we get our PT degree? Thanks.
@TheCanadianPhysioStudent

You can challenge the PCE prior to finishing your program. Myself and many of my classmates took the PCE (written) in July 2019, but we officially finished all requirements of the program in late August 2019 and had our graduation ceremony in November 2019.

Hi Anthony, Thanks for the video! I'm currently applying in my 4th year and I have 3 half credit courses this semester to use since the other 2 are full year courses so they won't be used in my sub-GPA. So counting back to third year I would end up with 13 credits total leaving me with 7 * 0.5 half credits or 3.5 full year courses remaining. Based on the video and OPRAS, they would use the average of my year two and have that mark fill as the remaining 6.5 half credits or 3.5 full year marks. Would they calculate the average first and convert that mark on a 4.0 scale or convert each grade that year into a 4.0 scale and calculate the average? I'm also wondering whatever mark I end up with for year 2, do I enter it on "whatsmyGPA" as "Grade" "6.5 Credits". Also If I took 2 spring courses prior to the start of my year 2 (2019), would that be used into my average even if I took a full course load that year (10 credits)? Thank you for all the videos!

Hi there! Thank you for this video it was really helpful as I am applying this year and I am currently in my 4th year at UofT! I had a question about calculating my sub-GPA. In third year second semester, I took four courses (I assigned a pass/credit to one of them) so that means for that year, I had 9 credits, what does this mean? Where will that extra grade to fill in that spot come from? Secondly, the summer in between second and third year, I took 2 courses, will these grades count at all towards the sub-GPA? Or will they just be ignored? I also took one course in the summer before I started by fourth year, will that grade be included or just ignored? I ask this because compared to my third and fourth year, my second year grades were not as good so I'm really hoping there is some way that that year's GPA doesn't get included. Thank you! I subbed!
@TheCanadianPhysioStudent
@TheCanadianPhysioStudent 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Hiba! Thanks for your comment. I appreciate you watching the video and subscribing to my channel. With regards to your questions... So this is how it'll work for you: - The course you took in between 3rd and 4th year (summer) will fill in that final credit of your 3rd year to make up for that pass/credit - The courses you took in between 2nd year and 3rd year (summer) will be added to your entire 2nd year GPA calculation - Because you're applying in 4th year, your second semester 4th year marks will not be taken into consideration, and therefore, the avg of your entire 2nd year will be used to fill in those gaps (as described in my video above) Hope that clears things up! If you're looking for more helpful resources on PT school apps, check out my website PhysioSchool.ca. Thanks again for watching!
