Hey Rikki. Glad you are doing well. Just pulled the trigger on a new “56 mile ODM” 2023 Pan America Special. It came with all the upgrades I would have done, guard wise, and a $750 Wunderlich rider and passenger seat with nut space, plus a brand new set of M Anakee tires on the side, and the Screaming Eagle carbon fiber exhaust. I added up the upgrades at $3,750 not counting labor at HD. All work was done before delivery. If I told you all what I paid, you’ll all freak and say it wasn’t true. It’s true. Let’s say I could flip this bike come April and easily make $9k, and with the 2025 1250 engines being made overseas, that alone could make my PA go up in value. But now it is tucked in and covered next to my 19’ M8 road glide standard. I’m having thoughts of selling the heavy and slow RG. Love the bike but I’m not getting any younger and 1,000 lbs with full bags and gear sucks. Plus technology wise it’s a “dumb” motorcycle. The PA is insanely more advanced at anything HD has ever made before and fast as sin itself. I’m now looking at the hard cases and matching soft panniers from Viking as the mounts are interchangeable. Just ordered the AEEDEA highway pegs. If you haven’t checked them out, do. Great video

Skateboarding in Connecticut in 74,75,76. We used to follow Tony Alva, who has to be my age at 64. ( 67 actually) One of the guys from our pack went on to riding that half pipe at Rock concerts during intermission or the switching of groups. He was sponsored by Bic lighter out of Connecticut also. To try and skateboard at 50 or 60 is downright radical. I would have put on a helmet, elbow guards, and shin guards. Skateboarding on the edge with the kids is special memories ✨️

This is the bike that put Enfield back in the game! Introduced in 2015 and hit the streets in 2016. Designed to carry Sherpa and gear up to base camp. The jeep Willie's of the mountains. I ride my Himalayan around Las Vegas, and this bike is perfect for highway, byway, back roads, green lanes, and cow paths bike. 22 Himalayan leftover that I could not be happier with. There is only 1 concern, and that is highway driving: The bike will do 80 MPH stock but cruises endlessly between 65 and 70 MPH. Not one drip or loose nut, so far at 12,300 miles. I took a gamble on this and I am completely satisfied and would recommend the 411 leftovers at a bargain price. I paid $3999.00. Out the door at $5700. Wahoo...... Ride every day unless the Sierra Nevada winds hold me back. No rain here. Ride Safe!

Great video, Richard! I run Red Rock Canyon conservation area almost every day here in Las Vegas. 2022 Royal Enfield Himalayan 411. 12,350 miles as of yesterday (1/10/2025) Not one problem aside from the front fork gators disintegrated. Not one leak and averages 65 MPG. I don't need all the horsepower and speed anymore at 64. The day of wheelies has long been gone. I associate motorcycling with drumming that each extremity works independently from the other. Not sure if any other individuals have also recognized this. Enfield continues to thrill the enthusiasts with newer model consistently coming out. The 750cc is right around the corner as well as the return also of the 250cc. Love Yamaha ( birch) drums and Sabian (AAX) cymbals. Gotta check out your drum videos. 🤙

If there was a way to track used motorcycle sales, that would give a bigger picture. Older Harley riders are selling off the bikes they can't ride anymore (my dad for example), not to dealers for resale, but in private sales. the interest is there, but affordability , at this moment in time, is not.

I'm 37, I make good money, I could afford a new Harley if I really wanted one. I just prefer the older bikes. I would much rather have a late 90's heritage than a new road glide, and If I was gonna spend new road glide money, I'd buy a panhead. The market is flooded with used bikes at reasonable prices, and that's the stuff I want.

I’m a 29 year old female and I own a ‘21 Indian Vintage Dark Horse. Being in the industry for seven years now, I can tell you people my age see owning a motorcycle as a luxury, especially in the United States. I feel in other countries motorcycles are more affordable but not necessarily as easy to purchase as it is here. In the UK, you need special licenses to purchase certain CC’s and in the US you can basically buy a Road Glide as your first bike if you can afford the payments. An interesting irony 😂

LOL, Motorcycling is a lifestyle of a few, it never has been more than that. The industry wants to establish it a utility for hobbyists, but let them all drop their nose on tarmac and see what their bikerism is actually about. No Motorcycling won‘t end, all that is ending is the prime Western customer focus, global bikes are created that feed the marketing shaped needs of a User generation. With that it will be easy once combustion engines can‘t be supported anymore to continue with whatever the future will bring in reality, regardless of e or h or n or whatever energy would support it. At the same time cities will be closing out traffic from the cities to establish better living climate, less chaos, and public transport use.

Motorcycles in general have gotten a lot more expensive. I purchased a 2013 Ninja 650 new when the MSRP was $7299, now it costs $1k more... back then the dollars went much farther than they do today. I know that an extra grand for the same bike today doesn't sound like a lot but when you factor everything else it might as well be 10 grand.

I think having the extra vehicle stops a lot of folks (extra insurance registration and maintenance.) But, one of the big factors, from folks I've talked to over the years, people don't know how to work on their stuff anymore. I've built no less than 10 bikes, most of us work on our own stuff (that is most of us who ride often) and we don't park them in the winter. I live in Pennsylvania and, as long as the roads don't have ice or snow on them, I'm riding. Lots of variables.

Personal opinion of course but during the 2020 "incident" they couldn't keep motorcycles in inventory. I think part of it is pull forward. The other thing at least around south central PA, many of the places we used to ride are now housing developments and business parks. Many of the other places thanks to lawsuits have gotten so strick. Motorcycles have always been through cycles too. For me at this stage of life I would like to see more of the imported utility motorcycles. Overseas you see small motorcycles with large boxes doing normal day to day activities.

Happy Holidays Ricky. Some great points here. All this "woke" nonsense doesnt help anyone, as you mentioned. Its fine to have opinions on brands but lets be real, theres no way most sturgis goers are ditching HD. I know you have a Pan am (as do i) and thats when companies like HD shine. But, there is a huge affordability problem. Until my pan am, i never bought new. Most riders I know will never buy new. The good news is you can get into a sportster for cheap, make it your own and make it rip for not too much dollars. Lets hope everyone else gets on board. Cheers!

Even if you think wokeness is harmless (even if you think wokeness is good) Harley Davidson, and any other corporation who tries to dabble in cultural and social engineering, still deserves to be punished. Because they are way out of line. Corporations have no heart, no soul, no consciense, no morals and no humanity. What they have is a marketing department. And the only thing that marketing department should talk about is their product. I am sick of corporations telling me how they think or feel about certain hot button issues. The only corporate value I care about is the value of the product you're supposed to be selling me.
