The only problem is Apple upgrade costs for things like storage and memory are way too overpriced. They don't make sense.

This is just mathematical lecture. I wish this could just work on any mesh in my scene and not dynamically create simple shapes from nodes.

Thanks for the grat tutorial :) ... but is it possible to export/import a audiovisualizer? I get an error message in Blender after importing the .mdd on my object. So you used optimal settings for the apple hardware but not Optix for the RTX cards? Seems like intentional bias or ignorance to me. Either way the results are useless as an actual point of comparison.

Great video Robbie! And I'm sure you'd get a slightly higher score if you tested the unbinned M4 MAX variant 16-core CPU, 40-core GPU. Now that the 5090 was announced, Apple will have to catch up again in its next chip release.

Hi, I'm considering betweet M1 Max 64 GB (used) and the M4 base model due to the similar pricing in my country. Which one is better for 3D and Game Development?
@secondskins-nlАй бұрын
I'm not sure why you consider those since rationally you should consider what PC you should buy. Uglier but faster and well, most games are not really for a Mac so in the end you'll be behind a PC anyway. As a bonus it's also much faster if you put the money you save into a better GPU.
@bovineox1111Ай бұрын
Very tempted tbh to drop on a m4 or m5 studio at some point. I love the silent operation of my M1 Pro MacBook and when I have to boot up the pc to do anything it’s so annoying. The only thing I really need my main pc for now is games that don’t exists on Mac. Given how good the m4 max is the studio version should throttle never because better airflow and the ultra should be getting very close to 4090 desktop now, assuming these results are consistent across more complexly lit scenes
@JoelAustinMackАй бұрын
I really think we should consider that the M4 can do this unplugged. This is the biggest reason I am switching: I am no longer shackled to a 3-pong outlet and don't have to suffer huge frame drops like I have with my 4080 laptop unplugged.

I explained it in the video: 28:30. It's a seperate geo nodes for the smaller rocks scattered on the floor.

It's been a year, so I hope you will see my comment. Is there a way to export this thing to key shapes? I'm struggle, I saw only very basic plane cloth simulation export tut, but it wasn't based on geo nodes, just a plane hitting the table surface with the gravity turned on. I want to export latter inflation that also based on geo nodes plus cloth simulation, but when I try to export it as MDD file it doesn't work. thanks a lot anyways

I would expect MDD to work. Why it's not working for you - I don't know.

Which m4 pro or m4 max chip was used? How many GPU cores? Also your presentation is accidentally very biased. Render times should be presented as bars with length in seconds. It looks like m4 pro is a hairline behind the nvidia, but in reality it is 33% slower. Also, to be fair you should compare macbook to a windows laptop. Thanks for doing the comparison - it has shed some light on the matter. I kind of have hard time believing that m4 max beat 3080 desktop by that margin, but who knows.

Perfect tutorial! The only thing I would like to ask is, once you are happy with the shape and colors, how do you convert the object to a mesh that can be used in other projects?

@codatheseus5060Ай бұрын
ok so now we should check the surface of the object for weaker sections and push the volume being removed at the boundary location into the weaker areas of the object right? If all areas of the surface are equally strong then its equally distributed, except maybe right around where its pressing up against the boundary, maybe a tiny bit of priority of the volume goes there?

I use MAC for my 9-5 job. Our whole design ecosystem is MAC but I do 3D modeling & sculpting as a hobby. My iMac is 5yo now and running super slow so I've been looking at the Mac Mini M4 Pro. Its probably the best bet for what I do professionally and as a hobby. Thanks for this video. Stats look like double the time as a high-end PC but way faster than what I'm using now.
