Yes! Great awareness. The question is, what action can you take right now to help you create that practice?

I’m currently working on #5…getting prepared for upcoming auditions, by observing how to handle interruptions because of living so closely to neighbors in a condominium community-unexpected noise, and timing issues of phone calls coming in, and running out of time for getting the video audition completed in time.

#4 was the most helpful for me. I know I thought that screwing up an audition would be remembered. Good to know that it won't adversely affect my chances next time around.

Judging - that's their job! Love that. And the other comment I heard long ago that helps not to take "rejection" personally, is that you may have a great audition but physically you're simply not right for the part. In the meantime, keep honing your skills.

I often wonder what are the things you can work on alone in acting that will help with your next audition. Like acting exercises or such.
@TipsOnActingАй бұрын
It's like exercise. Would it be great if you had a trainer working with you every day designing the perfect workout for you? Sure. Would it also be awesome if you just moved your body in any way for a few minutes, regardless of having a specific program?...Hell yeah. Same with acting. Any amount of time you spend in the process of the craft of acting can help you...Know what I mean?
@kimleamays7111Ай бұрын
Thank you! I will do this. God Bless!

I think worries about being judged come when you think a lot about what casting director is going to say about you. From my experience, if you are narrow your focus to your character, his life, his thoughts, his presence in the scenes, his feelings, you’ll have no space in your head to worry about casting director judgements

Casting directors are asking for too many tapes if they can’t watch them all and it’s disrespectful to everyone’s time and money to request more than they can properly connect to. They are supposed to be experts, so they should know how many they can really facilitate. I’m really sick and sad that tapes have made so many casting “directors” into casting administrators instead, without them realising it. It’s become an embarrassment to hear how out of touch they are about tapes. It’s clear they’ve never been an actor filming a tape before. I miss when casting directors might have some relevant acting experience in the past. The passivity of taping is showing up in the work. Same faces and lots more consumerism from a few choice companies who were happy to watch as the industry collapsed during the strike. Having creatives in the room is always going to produce better connection to the work. One day that might start becoming more fashionable again but for the moment casting directors watching tapes they request is a bare minimum expectation.

One of the great things about self taping is that I don't have to deal with the rudeness and self righteousness of many CD's. I don't miss the whole, "I control your career" attitude. It just really sucks.

"They keep you at arms length" - wow, is that's what's going on? I figured it was embarrassment. That we were both embarrassed that I didn't get cast.

There are so many possibilities. Arms length is definitely a common (not often talked about) one.

Good example of #3: Morgan Freeman played the character ‘Red’ (and nailed it of course) in The Shawshank Redemption. But in the original story, Red was a native Irishman with bright red hair 🧑🦰

So let me get this straight; don't be big, it's not about you, but sometimes do be big because it is about you and do nothing without being boring and also, don't do what you've studied in acting classes for years. This business sucks.
