I absolutely love your videos. The cinematography, sound, and narration are all top notch. Thank you for making them. I have a D3AA and am wanting either a D4V2 or a D4K. In my situation would you still go for a D4V2 over the D4?

Use of red and green to indicate on/off, especially in an application that could cause you genuine harm if misinterpreted, is about as far from "a clear and effective indication" as you can get. Red/green colour blindness (deuternaopia/deuteranomaly) is the most common kind, with literally hundreds of millions of people affected by it worldwide. They couldn't have made a worse choice.

That's a very fair criticism, and something worth bringing up to the creator. However, even considering colorlindness, the red/green contrast is probably the most universal on/off color combo that exists, and is going to be the default for most people.

@@LuxWad And therein lies the greater problem, the use of red/green in that kind of application is only widespread due to ignorance of the issue. If more people were conscious of the fact that this is a very inaccessible choice for a significant percentage of the population, maybe things would change. This particular case isn't the worst though, the large size of the illuminated button makes things a bit easier than with those awful tiny pinprick LEDs you get on some devices.

It’s a really nice light .I had it running with a 3x 21 D . it’s a cleaner beam within the hotspot has a smaller spill than 3×21 D .Nice job on your video.

Thru sell you these lights advertised 65K Lumens but fail to mention it'll only hold that limit for a minute or 2 not really usable..I found this out the hard way after wasting money on one..I do love flashlights but will only buy lights turbo rated at 3500lm-6000lm as item gold firebox longer and can often run 1800lm-2000lm for a usable time frame and is more than enough light for any situation

I'm looking for a headtorch for using mountain biking/running/skiing in snow/rain - the ones I already have you can see pulsing on the snow streaks (instead of a solid line each flake is a line of dots). Is this PWM or ripple? What kind of torch/model/driver will entirely eliminate 'dotted streaks'? A lot of companies don't specify which driver they're using?

Yes, that is PWM. Few manufacturers mention wether or not they use PWM in their lights, Nitecore is one that does specifically list this in their features. It is not specific to any driver type, just individual designs. The best thing to do is check reviews on zeroair.org as he's tested just about every light and always includes PWM measurements.

These screw-in bezels are the worst thing to ever happen to Emisar lights. Even the flat version sits so much higher compared to the old pressfit switches. Hank really needs to work on a lower bezel.

I’m honestly amazed those tiny emitters can light up rocks feet away, I’ve seen some really shitty short wave/ long wave tube emitter black lights that can only be used for personal viewing or photography.

FWOD creator here. Totally understand your concerns with cookies. I use the Brave browser and DuckDuckGo myself. I've currently got an ad campaign going so I'm using cookies to track where sales are coming from. Amazon won't be happening this year as I'm working on improving my packaging right now. @LuxWad In general, with the flashlights the DO.. Is there any concerns about turbo use like you point out here? Or am I pretty much ok to use turbo and trust the flashlight to protect itself and me? As long as my hand can take the heat, it should be ok?

@Flashtricity-yf6lv Yeah you should be fine, the electronics are able to handle much more heat than your hand so it's rarely an issues unless you're wearing gloves or something. Active regulation will keep it in a range that's safe for the electronics themselves, even if you have a configurable light like Anduril they don't really let you set the limit too high. Just use your judgement when handling lights like this that don't have active protection and you will be fine

@@LuxWad My judgement is a little skewed though. I understand little to nothing about electricity and have misunderstood things many times to be "dangerous" when they may not be... Iused to completely avoid turbo for longer than 10 seconds on all my lights out of fear. Out of a misunderstanding of some info at some point. I'm still scared of mixing and matching cells and lights not knowing what the max CDR is of ony of my Wurkkos/Sofirns/Convoys "included cells". Not knowing whether or not any of them can power a hotrod Emisar... Edit: or what happens when they "cant"

Custom emisar can be close to $100 and no USB charging. For under $30 you get 3-emitter, high cri floody beam, 6-emitter rgb aux lights, USBc charging, magnetic tail..... That's a steal and sets a new standard for budget designs that should satisfy the vast majority of consumers. Better value than skilhunt 150 and olight baton4

Wow, I'm quite amazed by these minerals, how they're glowing only in the specific uv wavelength. And you're presumably able to find these just laying there on the ground? That's cool, I might try to try this myself in the future, as a way to make night walks with flashlights more interesting 😁

@@tomallo99 FWOD creator here. You can definitely find rocks and minerals that fluoresce laying around. These reactions aren't something that people can look for without a specific uv frequency as you stated. There have been incidences where it was turned into concrete! Just look up "fluorescent concrete franklin nj". It's also very fun to get a good deal at gem and mineral shows because the piece they're selling doesn't look pretty in white light but gorgeous under uv. Many times the dealer didn't even know!

Great seeing you here TK! I REALLY wanted to put Anduril on this. I even think I contacted you at one point for help. I tried 3 different manufacturers and none of them knew how to work with ATTINY chips. Even offered to have the firmware part written for them. They didn't have the equipment to flash it. Turns out Atmel isn't really used in China. They don't even have Chinese datasheets!

@@Raymond-Wu As is, I'm not sure I would have been able to help. Anduril would need major changes to work with 3 buttons, and I haven't been able to work much due to a broken spine. But it's really cool that you made a wide-spectrum UV light. It's like high CRI, but for the invisible spectrum. ❤

I'll throw out that chlorophyll glows under UV, so you can use UV to help find fresher groceries. Also, something's been bugging me. How dangerous is UV-A? I'd heard the warnings about B and C, and thought they also applied in a lesser fashion to A, but I don't really see warnings accompanying 365nm lights.

Creator of the FWOD here. Haven't heard of people using a uv light to find fresher groceries. I know people do photograph plants under uv lights as they all fluoresce in different ways like the minerals showcased in the video. I'm not immediately sure if that'd be beneficial over visual inspection in white light. As for UVA safety, it's most of the uv light that makes it to the surface of the Earth, albeit a potentially stronger source as the flashlight focuses the beam. Still follow the safety tips in the video!

You're awesome for being willing to answer those questions here in the comments. With the plants, I've found that some like cilantro often will glow at different levels of intensity at the store. That allows (at least in my mind 😁) the ability to see who's more alive among the bin.

Interesting, I haven't heard of that use case. I know UV causes many flowers to flouresce in interesting patterns that are used to attract pollinating insects. Also yes just to add, a powerful UVA light still requires eye protection to use, even if it's not ionizing radiation like UVC.

Sorry my pricing didn't meet your expectations. I always try to be on the bleeding edge of technology with my lights. For example, there's not a single mention of the 255nm LED I used anywhere on the internet outside of this review. It's not publicly available for sale yet but represents the latest improvements in 255nm tech. Costs $$$ though! I leave it to Chinese manufacturers to come up with something more affordable.

There is a less expensive mineral light on Amazon from Wondsunson that has three wavelengths (395, 365 and 254) for about 80 bucks. It does not have the UV-B 310 nm wavelength, however, and it's not as bright. It also has ZWB filters, so probably isn't as good as the dichroic lens. However, I can attest that it has very nice build quality, and does the job. It's USB-C rechargeable with a built-in 18650 battery. Even given all that, it still may be attractive to quite a lot of people at less than 1/4 the price.

Creator the the FWOD here. If it works it works! More power to you. Plus you'll have saved a lot of money. The light you're talking about is more of a gem inspection light - sharpie marker sized with shortwave and longwave emitters on opposite sides. You can't put both of them on a single specimen like I did in my prototype video linked in the description. Plus, as you can imagine, the LEDs used in that light are considerably weaker as well as the filter not being as good as you stated. The LEDs they're using cost ~$2-3 wholesale while mine are $20. For those that are considering the Wondsunson light I recommend getting it directly from China! You can save an additional $10-20 as the light is only $60-70 from other sites

Creator of the FWOD here. Most UV adhesives will do fine with just 365nm. However, there are some high end ones such as my favorite Loctite 349 Impruv that recommends a cure at 255nm (? can't remember exact wavelength) for full strength. Check the datasheet of whatever UV adhesive you're using
