It's interesting the writer of this movie writes for Rick and Morty and didn't do that, because the plot you just explained is the plotline of a lot of episodes of Rick and Morty. This is the worst MCU movie for me. The constant “I cant tell you” trope from janet when all she’s doing half the movie is traveling giving her ample time to tell them about kang, kang saying “ive killed 100 avengers” yet stalling when given multiple chances to kill scott, the childish dialogue from cassy and modok, and hank and hope being pretty useless in a movie called ant man AND THE WASP. My exact same thoughts! positives: - Kang and Janet scene working together - Kang negotiating with Scott negatives (some): - Quantum Realm looked horrible, amazing how the GOTG movies look drastically better than this, - Kang defeated Thor, but had problems with Ants? - Final battle sequence made zero sense, kang could have easily escaped. Why did he need his useless army? - Why didn't Janet tell them who Kang is?

The easiest change to Modok would have been to have him conspire against Kang from the start, giving the Ant-team clues and conveniently sparing them to fulfill his agenda. Let's say that Kang had installed some failsafe that prevented Modok from ever going rogue. So Modok needed someone else to do it for him. He could be left for dead, but reveal he's alive after all the heroes leave and now he's in charge of the Quantum realm.

It's even worse when you consider how this fits into the context of the MCU. Janet, Hank, and Hope were all snapped by Thanos. Scott and Hope helped save the universe from Thanos. Janet should know about the Avengers and that they can handle a big threat like this. Why wouldn't she warn anyone about Kang? After her and her family experienced the whole Thanos ordeal? Also remember that she was completely okay with sending Scott into the quantum realm before she got snapped. That's how Scott saved the day in Endgame. What changed? The answer is the writers changed, but what changed in-universe?

The "devoid of logic" theme already started previous Ant Man movie, where they forgot to upgrade his suit with wings. I mean, it was easy peasy for Pymm to make a flying suit for Hope, why not slap some wings on Scott's suit as well? Being able to fly is incredibly useful and at this stage in the Marvel universe everyone can do it, even Captain America. And it seems there doesn't have to be any scientific explanation or logic anymore, like they meticulously did in Iron Man 1. Nowadays suits just fly.

The first Ant Man movies established that you shouldn't shrink without a suit, including a helmet. Darren was in a suit, and yet he stilled got f-ed up when Scott sent him to quantum size. Somehow, Hank and Janet shrink without suits, Cassie and Hope aren't wearing their helmets, and none of them die or are even injured by the process. They are quantum, so they are sub-atomic, smaller than atoms, that means smaller than oxygen. How do they breathe? Three of them have suits, and while they normally use the quantum tunnel to go that small and return, Scott has proven once before that you can return to normal size without the quantum tunnel and none of them think to try this to escape Kang. Scott acting like Cassie is huge, even though she's actually still sub-atomic, just not as small as he is at that moment. Scott shows that he can still change size, and while being bigger than most of the microscopic threats he encounters would be really useful and would avoid a lot of the situations he ends up in, he still chooses to remain the same arbitrary size. You could be bigger than that and still be sub-atomic. What a waste of M.O.D.O.K. The ending was set up to give Scott and Hope a beautiful heroic farewell, but ends up being a meaningless gesture when Cassie brings them back. For some reason, the ants didn't shrink as much as the humans. The quantum possibilities of multiple Scotts was funny, but not really how that would work. There should not have been a Baskin Robbins Scott, since the alternate Scotts should be based on him at the moment he entered that area, so all possibilities should be branching from that one moment. Also, betraying your boss while he's barely holding off an entire army of ants is totally a dick move. Kang really should have won. They could have used Quantumania as a sort of Empire Strikes Back moment. Let the bad guy get a victory. It will make him so much more of a threat in the upcoming Avengers.

If Rick and Morty went on an adventure to some mini verse and an evil Rick captured Morty/the gun Rick uses to escape until non-evil Rick gets some super weapon from him it'd be a perfectly normal ep. For those completely confused about this movie, remember that Kang was originally an F4 villain (he first debuted in a F4 comic before becoming an avengers level threat). So fox media originally had the rights to the character along with doc doom. Once Disney acquired fox media, then they got access to the x men and F4 and all of their villains, hence adding Kang to the story. However, adding Kang to the MCU this late in the game caused major plot holes. It explains all the plot holes especially the Janet storyline as she didn’t tell them about Kang when she returned from the QR because Disney didn’t have the rights to the character yet lmao when she sent Scott to the QR in antman 2 and the whole storyline of endgame, again kang didn’t exist yet. I agree that they should’ve went about it a different way and they executed the Janet storyline poorly but it isn’t entirely their fault. Everything else in the movie like the horrible comedy or the destruction of the character known as MODOK etc I can’t defend, that was just terrible

You can just shrink smaller when you're already subatomic. @joshua2870
@joshua2870 Жыл бұрын
Yeah. They retconned a lot of the stuff that grounded it. 1. Reducing size but keeping mass. As you said the sheer mass of normal humans like Scott and Hope should be akin to the gravity of a star. 2. Isn't an hour in the quantum realm meant to be like a year there? Scott spent 5 hours and 5 years passed. That means Janet should have theoretically spent 30 hours or just over a day there. But she spent 30 years and aged. 3. What's the difference between shrinking to subatomic levels and just entering some portal? In Antman 1, Scott and Modok shrank to quantum levels, and Scott escaped by just expanding. Why didn't they just expand as well in this new movie? 4. Didn't Janet have powers or something like that in the second movie when she came out? She literally healed Ghost and Hank's mind.

MODOK had to be told "Don't be a bad person" to have a change of heart. I'm not riding Gunn's nuts or anything, but I'm honestly surprised at the writing expertise at Marvel Studios. You watch a great film then you watch an awful one. No consistency.

Honestly, I'd disagree with Cassie. She's a total mess in this movie. Getting arrested (a few times) is kind of a big deal. Especially when she's using Pym Tech to commit her crimes. And she's carrying around a suit with her. Either of which could have been taken. Then can throw in her having magic intelligence. She has a few notes from Hank Pym to read through (how the heck did she even get those) and suddenly she's one of the smarter people in the MCU? What? Truly we have lost a great time when characters needed time to develop their intelligence. Tony Stark having gone to MIT sounds like a joke now compared to the teenagers smarter than him. More to do with Hank. But where did the guy that would have died before letting his technology be misused by the world go? The guy pissed at Scott for nearly losing his suit and using it to help Captain America? When did this guy become so utterly careless and stupid?

The movie had one last chanced to saved itself once Antman was left in the Quantum Realm. It would’ve been the perfect cliff hanger and perfect coming of age for Cassie and to build up for a next movie. Like did Kan or Ant-man die? Can Cassie own up the mantle of being a super hero and figure out how to bring her dad back? There was so and I’m telling you so so so much potencial on that one scene to make a new hero and to better the franchise but they literally killed it in 2 minutes with having Cassie somehow being smarter than Tony Stark all of a sudden and bringing her daddy back.

At 9:20 when you say you have no idea why all the versions of scott and wasp go back into each other its obvious the meaning behind it is that all the versions of himself have the same goal and that is to save his daughter and the same applies to Wasp. Its saying that both characters have no conflict within themselves they know what they want and what they have to do. ;)

I had same questions. Why is there a paramecium attack? Paramecia are orders of magnitude larger than "quantum" size. I asked, what is their scale? Paramecia are more micro, but the movie clearly says quantum phenomena are present meaning they cant be micro scale. Breathing shouldnt be possible. Sight isnt possible. Atoms are the smallest building blocks, so how is there building materials or is some civilization shrinking all materials needed? If an atom of original matter is shrunk to quantum scales, then the planck density will undeniably be met. Every second of this film hurts. I have a college physics education, and some suspension of disbelief is expected but the entire film, all laws of physics, must be overlooked and changed to accomodate it. It hurts. After watching, which i put off for months knowing it would piss me off, i was furious.

Movie would have ended a lot better if it had Scott and Hope stay behind in the quantum realm, sacrificing himself to keep Kang from escaping. That allows Kang to be defeated in a way that doesn’t cheapen him as a threat. The only way Scott can beat him is by stopping him from achieving his ultimate goal: escaping the quantum realm. It’d also give better context to his really cool line “I don’t have to win, I just have to make sure we both lose” which is totally fucking wasted in this movie. It really fucking annoyed me when the portal just reopened because a) it cheapened what could have been a ballsy way to end the movie and b) I saw it coming from a mile away because the MCU is incapable of doing anything ballsy.

I would've loved for Scott to sacrifice himself and let Janett in the other world, that would have made Kang a truly terrifying villain like "Wow, even this watered-down version of Kang that was defeated was able to defeat 2 of earth's mightiest heroes!?" And by letting Janett trapped in the quantum realm they would have a failsafe that let them say in any moment "Ha, I came back with reinforcements" in other movies

Just to expand on your point on 11:20, there are a lot more people living in the MCU (think in space etc), which are confirmed to add up to being in the trillions, in one universe alone (confirmed in Endgame when Bruce says to Thanos that he killed trillions), so you're exactly right.

Cassie being able to build the signal transmitter in the first place is all you really need to know about Ant-Man 3's logic. Even for an MCU movie, that in of itself is hard to believe because she's only 18 and is either still in or has recently graduated high school by the time of Quantomania. 18 yr. old high school "activists" aren't super geniuses, period. Typical kids her age pay more attention to trends on TikTok than they do quantum physics.

Also one thing thats really wierd and dumb, they have the core they want, and Kang comes in and...for some reason he keeps Cassie??? Which makes no sense since he literally wouldn't do anything with her cause if he won him and his army....would leave...without her...leaving her to die I guess? ALSO ALSO he said he was going to use his army to go to war but if he was planning to go to war with even regular human Avengers, no less the super humans and THEN HIMSELF's.........why? They dont have advanced stentgh or technology if anything it seems like they cant even take regular punches....against avengets who fight aliens with advanced strentgh, ect ect
