Fred Again’s style is simple yet incredibly tasteful. His drones and those transposed out of nowhere bass lines are the salt and pepper spice to that simplicity. He’s my favorite EDM artist right now.

Simplicity is key! The most timeless tracks are always the simple ones. They seem to connect with people in a way that's different to complex tracks, where if there is to much going on it becomes a bit much. To me, trance became to bulky and it killed the original sound leading it to become very unpopular, while at the same time techno/house stayed true to its roots and has always maintained a strong following by keeping it simple. Of course this is always opinion based and that's my take on it!

Great video and great advice. Especially as someone just starting to get into making music I appreciate hearing that a good song can be very simple and doesn't require tons of overlapping automations. The only automation you used in the video was a volume fade! You do have a way of making Serum look way easier than it actually is tho...how do you do that!?

I think you're making a mistake in saying that Fred Again keeps it simple. In my opinion, you forget to address what really makes the difference from other house tracks. Namely the drums and the way he mixes organic and synthetic elements very well mixed and which give a spontaneous and at the same time slightly complex side to his rhythm. Not more developing the subjects of Fred Again's drums means missing out on 50% of the analysis of his productions
@stephenking50817 ай бұрын
Hey bro, love what you do, you’ve helped me grow a lot. so I followed you step by step in this tutorial like I always do and the Serum arp synth ended up sounding like a conga drum lol. Did you skip a step in the video? Please reply, this would be really helpful ❤

🤔Adore u is very chill, but tbh it lacks something compared to some of his other tracks. It's almost 90s dance the way the piano drives it, which isn't a bad thing, but it's still a bit meh. Nice recreate though, Alex!

Your arp synth sounds quite messy because you’re playing (drawing) the dotted 8th manually with echo on. I’m pretty sure it’s a dotted 8th delay on a staccato (short plucked notes) synth playing single notes with portamento (slide) on.
