Again I'm blown away by Reaper and the sheer amount of things you can rig it to do. Thanks for the info! Gonna try this out soon.

Your welcome! I am also truly blown away how flexible REAPER is. Best software I ever bought.

Waveform is completly free and works fine, I have been using Reaper, Cakewalk, Bitwig, even Cubase but becouse of too much latency of all these DAWs I switch to Waveform.

Thanks, man! I would also suggest to consider Bertom Denoiser.

Bertom Denoiser is great, use it for my vocal chain when making the videos to surpress the hum of the PC fans.

I'm using Tonex stock noisegate with Gatey Watey from BOZ

Interesting! To me, the ToneX Noise Gate does not work really well with high-gain tones, I hope they will enhance the Noise Gates functionality at some point in time. But yeah, whatever works is awesome enough! :-)

Sonic Anomaly's SEGX2 JS plugin (gate/expander) may also be of interest to Reaper (power) users.

I'll check that out, thanks for the suggestion!

You can also use reagate to sidechain

Yeah, I got something similar with my voice and guitar going on, where I duck the voice as soon as I play guitar. This was one of the first things I figured out here, because I hate using earphones, so I needed a method to silence out any feedback from my loudspeakers back into my mic ;-) ReaGate should actually be called ReaGOAT!

Just to help me understanding this : Why would you not use the gate as for example the first plugin in the plugin chain ? Thanks for the clear video anyways :)
@PippPrissАй бұрын
Good question - the reason for this is, placing the plugin as the first thing in chain will keep the guitars hum in check, but not the actual hum of the amplifier - this tip is by far more useful for reamping purposes than regular plugin use, since with amp plugins, the hiss inherently coming from the amp sim plugin is often lower than the real world counterpart. You can also use a combination of different gates set a bit softer, but I tend to like a tight gate, which is however triggered by a more softer element (guitar DI vs. signal from after the amp): In the end, it's all about if it suits your individual workflow :-)

Efektor silencer dude give it a go. I use it on voice too.

The cock blocker plug in is awful imo. I've tried to use it and takes away to much tone. Great video on how to split the signal for the real gate. 👍

Thanks a ton for the kind words! If you are not careful with this method, you can also get into choppy territory with ReaGate also, but it just offers all the control you need to NOT land in that place! :-)
