We have never removed a comment from a viewer. However, your recent comment on November 12 caused KZbin to send us an administrator's warning about commentary that "goes against community standards", as many viewers rightfully perceived the comment to be racist. They may have complained and reported your comment to KZbin, but in this case, we did not. Whenever we get a negative comment (which does happen, if only rarely), we prefer to leave it up for all to see. We've received negative comments about our age, clothing choices, hair, and culinary preferences. For the most part, we find them amusing, as these comments tend to reflect more on the commenter than on us.

@Global_Feast2 күн бұрын
Actually no. There are two distinct types of chorizo. Spanish, which is usually dried, and Mexican, which is usually loose and wet. This particular recipe was given to us but the head food honcho at the Vancouver Club, and although he called it Spanish, it has black currants, brandy, allspice, clove, cayenne, garlic, and black pepper. It's one of our favourites!

Try out banana leaf the one on broadway is the first very reasonable priced for high end malaysian i love this place try their green beans their cocunut rice is really good and abundance of seafood in gulai curty is damm good lots of seafood in thag dish for like $30 their rendang beef is ok the spice is good but ghey use beef stew meat which i find dry and chewh not big on it if they kicked it up a notch and used short ribs would be on higher level , the sable fish is really good, but food there is amazing the fish is cooked perfectly everh time. Ive been there never overcooked
@Global_Feast2 күн бұрын
Banana Leaf is undeniably good, although we preferred the laksa at the now-defunct Tropika on Robson. We've dined at a few Banana Leaf locations, and found them to be a little inconsistent. We then to lean into the smaller, more family-type establishments. We'll go back too though and check one out, as the last time we went to a BL was the one on Denman that closed down a few years back. Thanks for the great comment!
@acaciomadeira51472 күн бұрын
I agree I did try their lahksa it was ok but wouldn't have it again. Yes last time I tried the b.l. on robson it was good but the abundance of seafood was a little different from last time I had the next day I went to Broadway and it was a little different think it had a little more tomato , I mentioned it to the manager don't know if they fixed it I took a picture and showed her one is more redish than the one at Broadway but they both where really good still hard to pick which was better I'm a European trained chef in my training for 10 years learned the importance of consistency
@Global_FeastКүн бұрын
Thanks for your comment! It's somewhat reassuring to hear that your observations about consistency at BL closely mirrored ours, especially given you lengthy culinary experience. One of the reasons we love Tamarind Hill in North Van is because they are very, very consistent. Never slips below a certain bar of excellence. When a restaurant branches out to multiple locations, training and process become increasingly important, otherwise the original vision that made the first outlet prosper gets watered down.

@@Global_Feast No need to thank me, as I am really enjoying your channel. I'm kind of restaurant-obsessed myself. I agree with your notion. I'd add that restaurants to me are more than just a fun, tasty way to connect with family, friends and strangers as they can be a legitimate cultural experience in and of themselves. Thanks for sharing your opinion. We’re a little confused though… what do you think a real Canadian is? If by saying “real Canadians” you mean “white people”, that would be a pretty racist comment. Obviously very authentic and the other customers when I went were 100% Korean (servers speak English so no language barrier to worry about).Google says unfortunately that it's temporarily closed - no idea why - but if/when they are operational again I'd highly recommend that place. One of the house specialities is a Korean soup/stew called Al-Tang, which is a spicy fish roe soup - it was fantastic and one of the best meals I've had in Van City.
