Glad you guys enjoyed the recommendation! I have been eating their wontons for years. I mainly get the non-spicy kind cuz my mouth can only handle the ma(numbness) but not the la(spicy). Their non-spicy is made with a creamy sesame paste (almost like melted peanut butter) but is still loaded with their addictive peanuts. For authentic Thai, there is a Thai place in Burnaby Heights called Chad Thai on Hastings. I've only been there once (last month) but the food I had was tasty and the locals were constantly going in and out getting take out. Owner recommended their pork Panang curry and it was delicious. Also had their fried shrimp in wonton skins, was a great appy. Ask for the chili oil and they will bring it out for you. Décor is nothing special, but their menu is huge and is family run by authentic Thai family.

Thank you reviewing delicious treats of the lower mainland. I will have to make a point of trying a few someday. 🎉 If you’re not a beer Laura fan it might be the mass produced stuff of long ago. I never tried beer until my late 40s with a Granville Island pumpkin brew. Started experimenting with small craft brewery concoctions. There are some nice ones. My favourites now are hazy IPAs or unfiltered wheat ales. . 🎉 If going to a pub ask the server which ones they have. Blue Moon is popular.
@Global_FeastАй бұрын
Ha ha! Laurel actually has a soft spot for some ales and stouts, but red wine and Negronis are her libation of choice. The craft brew scene has come a long way in vancouver in the last 20 years. Check out our video on R&B Brewing! Thanks for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated!

My wife and I had an amazing meal at Song (by Kin Kao) on Broadway near Kingsway. It is "modern Thai" and is one of the restaurants in Vancouver with the Michelin Guide "Bib Gourmand" designation. The owners have another Thai restaurant, Kin Kao, on Commercial near Venables, which is also supposed to be very good. I share your love of roast pork. Unfortunately, none of the places here in Houston are any good. On my last visit to Vancouver, after picking up the rental car, I immediately went to HK BBQ Master to pick up some roast pork, roast duck and char siu to satisfy my cravings. 😋
@Global_FeastАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing! Not sure if it sits under “cheap eats” umbrella, but we will most definitely add it to our list! 🙏

Kin Kao restaurants are awesome but yea I spent like $200 per person last time including drinks . Michelin guide should be visiting crystal mall as the true Bib Gourmand designation should go to these value places
@Global_Feast6 күн бұрын
@@winstonwinston3487 I hear ya. Our philosophy is to try and answer the question "If I just landed in this city, where could I find the coolest food at the best price?" 200 bucks a person doesn't fit into that aesthetic very well. Luxury fine dining is its own thing, and nothing against it, but for us, the most satisfying meals are the ones made in family run places that lean more towards tradition than "modern interpretation". Those modern fusion places can be pretentious and not a great value. Mind you, we had one for the most amazing meals ever at Kissa Tanto on Vancouver, which is Japanese/Italian fusion. It broke all the rules and was a fantastic dining experience. For the part though, give us plastic seats in a hot alleyway where an old woman with questionable dental work is dishing out steaming bowls of homemade goodness! ♥
@winstonwinston34876 күн бұрын
@@Global_Feast amen … especially with the affordability crisis . It’s nice to give shine to these mom and pop stalls , but selfishly their prices may jack up with the Michelin award :)
