I do that on my 3 foot lathe. I mount the cutter between centres, having turned it on the same lathe so it has to be central

I'm assuming that you tightening the drawbar got edited out. My Diamond 22M is about the same size layout. Motor and step pulleys are on the right, power feed on the left. B&S #9 as well.

Your arbor spacers are not flat and parallel on the ends, that's why the arbor appears bent and cutter appears out of round. Could be dirty, could be dinged up, could just be cut a little out of square when they were made. It *is* possible to get one to run straight and true though!

Congratulations on this very interesting project. You present the pressure regulator used, could you not also give information on the single-acting cylinder; a link for purchase would be welcome. Can I count on a positive response. Paul

13:41 I feel dumb but, why do you need to clock the brass insert to the dial? To make sure when the dial is on a whole number, the distance between the half nut and the dial allows the nuts to close up? As an alternative (for me for instance I bought replacement half nuts for my south bend so I can't clock them) ..... if I run into trouble, I could shim out my threading dial to achieve the same end result -no?

10:00 Since Logan makes half nuts for this lathe and since they must be clocked ....... all half nuts must come cut in the same clock orientation?

I love how, in machining, very few things are ever really thrown away. There's almost always a way to rebuilt, refit, repack, resleeve a part to make it useful again. You didn't just buy another set of half-nuts, you made the old ones new again. Really cool stuff.

move the pattern closer and change out the length of the shaft to suit, looks like the piston has plenty of stroke to accommodate a shorter rod to keep the cutter the same distance from the pattern with a shorter rod

Awesome attachment very good job designing & building it. Could you use an air spring (like on a hatchback car trunk door?)
