Hi Drew, I am about to become a business partner with a Thai friend, he has 98% and I will have 1% and another Thai friend 1%. Am I allowed to work as a business partner or do I need a work permit as well? The business is training Thai people to be croupiers so it is an occupation only a foreigner can teach.

Hi mate, yes you will need a visa that allows you to work and a work permit, can seem quite daunting at first

I did have an idea for a business in Thailand would like your advice if you have a minute. Essentially what it would be is somebody in the west hiring a local thai to shop the markets for them and hunt out the bargain. It would be done over video chat using a GoPro or meta ray bands type device and would be charged at an hourly.

Drew I’m a long time recruiter and look into/I’d consider a switch to senior end perm recruitment, fees are large and overhead is small. 3-5 deals a year and you’re likely very happy.

We was indeed but thats still possible and happening. The care industry rules are different to a lot of other sectors when it comes to sponsorship (correct with the dependents) This is still going to carry on in my Bangkok office ran by the manger. Im sure this will fade out in the next year or two though which I will let happen. I will talk about it in more depth when I can as my business always had another side to it in the UK :)

You no need to pay for a rent, cost of living is very low, rice from the fields if you have your own land, no need to share roads,buses, no long queues, no air pollution, no crowds, fresh air..etc.. what else do you need..your area has everything fundamental, for me it’s brilliant and I love it!!…

Great video. I had been in Thailand last year from January to June went back to the UK seeking work which has been difficult. About to make the same decision as you move back to Thailand. Have the house, car and as you say you need much to live on. I like your insight of not seeing the ordinary things in Thailand Thank you.

I totally understand the Thai point of view, locals and authorities are getting fed up with too many tourists and their behaviour. Mass tourism will cause friction in local communities. Venice had enough of it and Amsterdam as well. LoSo tourism, little spending, lots of thrash, noise and behaviour issues. The costs are for the locals as tourist tax is not enough to cover this.

Great video mate. Price certainly depends on which outskirts of Bangkok you live in, how far you are from the city center, main roads etc. In my area (far western suburb) this house would go for around 10-12k. But if you rent an older, non furnished house in a non gated community there are deals to be found for 5-9k. My first house was a 4 story plus parking and rooftop for 5k, but it was a bit of a shit hole hahaha.
