I love this new video Nick helps a lot, you should of had this up Wednesday, sucks that my one cylinder head has some freakin rust, I put some pb blaster up top and every spark plug hole all but that rusty one the liquid stayed but it is going down very slowly.

Liked the video. Have an '06. Changed engine at 186k, now have 320k. 2nd transmission, but running great. You had one view of how close the exhaust is to the oil filter housing. Is that a good idea to heat the oil so much? I've been skeptical. Yes the plastic T for the heater will crack and fail for sure. Check coolant leak above the rear diff too. Thought I had a bad second transmission, but new shift solenoid fixed it!

No issues with the oil filter close to the manifold like that. If you’re concerned you can wrap the manifolds with header tape

This is a fantastic and comprehensive guide to removing the engine from your vehicle.. however, I'm having a problem with a stripped torque converter nut.. do you have any tips for getting it out? It's a really tight spot in my Ford Ranger, not nearly enough space to hammer the ratchet into the nut to remove it.

The timing chain videos are awesome. The only thing I would do different is put aluminum tape on the Vise grip jaws and all that Rusty Hardware I would let it soak overnight in Kroil or Mouse Milk before I use the torch.

Does the fan clutch and front of engine (Alternator etc) have to come off? Another video of a ranger with same engine shows the whole engine removed with fan blade still attached even. I’m only swapping motor. 2010 sport trac.

I have an 06 mustang 4.0 I just did the valve cover gaskets and cleaned the engine up a bit but I'm noticing oil on the exhaust manifold studs and it looks like it is specifically on the studs.. I don't see where it would come from other than the stud itself... like do these have cracking issues??

Really hoping I never have to do this, bought my 2010 with 100k on it. Getting some overheating so I'm working on that right now with changing the water pump, fan clutch, and flushing the radiator. Any suggestions for keeping the chains in good order? I commented on another video asking about how you did a preoiler. Would you recommend that or the flood mode for like 5-8 seconds before startup? I want to keep this baby running for at least another 100k! You're a wealth of knowledge and I've been watching a bunch of your videos to know all I can about these things.
@iamdjnam
@iamdjnam Жыл бұрын
Your 2010 is stout. No need for a pre oiler. I highly suggest a full synthetic oil with a Wix filter. You’ll get upwards 250k. And if the time comes, it’s really not that hard to get the engine out. Takes me about 2 hours.

I've gotta do this on an 01 sport soon, mines in need of some love or a replacement. Would you know how interchangeable these engines are? Could I get a sohc 4.0 from any year/model with a 4.0 sohc and just swap my parts over? Or would I be able to use the updated intake and such with the old ECU?
