Great review as always! 👍🏻 I’ve got the Mega 15S and the Mega 22S on order. I already own an X-rite i1 Display Pro with USB-A connector. Will I be able to use that to calibrate the 15S or do I need a more modern version of the i1 Pro (as the port is USB-C), or will a USB-A to USB-C adapter suffice? Which i1 Pro did you use to calibrate yours? Thanks for any help.

I used an old X-rite i1 with a USB-A to USB-C adaptor. It worked perfectly once I found the 90 degree sideways trick. What's confusing me slightly is... I watched another review where they showed calibration in the correct orientation. Maybe it works that way with the newer models? Anyway, you should find the X-rite i1 works fine. 👍

hye.....thanks for this review.......on your vidéo you said the monitor is a little bit brighter.....but on the picture it seems a lot more brighter.....is there any way with the backlight button to have the same brightness like the old version monitor....thank you for your answer
@extrashot
@extrashot 7 күн бұрын
Hi, Oh yes... my comparison shots were with the backlight on both monitors turned up to the max (10). Turning down the Mega 15S to match is not a problem. I had the backlight on the old Megamon at 5 which looks pretty much the same as the Mega 15S at 3. The settings will obviously be different depending on the brightness of your location, and there's definitely something going on with the polarisation of the Mega 15S, but they are very close after calibration.

@@extrashot Thanks for the review. And always interesting when brands make something a bit better and then leave those that helped support them and buy their products out to dry by not offering any type of firmware update. But I still do enjoy my original and won't be upgrading... not having control over picture controls seems like a step backward with the other better features. Also wonder about that joystick - and if it would survive the rigors of repeated work in the field.

As long as the "drone auditors" are not doing anything illegal, then it should not be a problem! So many people are too uptight, and they do not want to play by the rules... So they harass people who might be taking pictures but who are not doing anything wrong! Many people are truly unaware that we individuals have any freedoms what so ever... Those people need to be informed!

Auditing serves a VITAL role in highlighting tyrants, pompous pricks full of their own self entitlement and overall they work to keep our rights and freedoms in tact when they are at serious risk of being heavily eroded. The government and private businesses film us dozens of times per day, why should we not be able to film them? Be it from above or ground level? What have they got to hide? Nothing to hide, nothing to fear.... when a crime is committed the police always ask for help from the public with camera evidence, yet try in their ignorance to stop us filming... WTF! A simple 'solution' to stop auditors would be to demonetize the channel. Funny how KZbin loves the ad revenue too though isn't it? I smell hypocrisy. We should always be allowed to call out/highlight bullying, bad work practices and rather than criticism towards auditors, we should educate the public, businesses and the police to not freak out at the sight of someone taking pictures. Sheesh!!! There is NO right to privacy in public and for the sake of freedom let's hope that situation is forever maintained.
@extrashot
@extrashot Ай бұрын
In principle, I don't disagree with you at all. Auditing can provide a vital role in highlighting wrongdoing by governments and businesses. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be the intent of the very small number of drone channels I'm referring to. If you go out of your way to harass or intentionally cause confrontation with everyone you meet, you're not highlighting any tyrants... you are the entitled prick. Eventually this will inevitably lead to our rights and freedoms being curtailed.
@ianchappytube

@@extrashot Thanks for largely agreeing. I am not an auditor btw, nor wish to be and I considered a similar stance to you at first regarding one or two auditors who do obviously provoke situations to gain a reaction, no doubt, but DJ flies his drone over commercial buildings from public footpaths and there is no way any one should believe that they have the authority to question any member of the public about anything they are legally doing in public, and he highlights this time and again, and we should herald him and not knock him in my view. Exercise one's rights, or risk having them taken away! I am a big believer in that. Your channel provides some great info by the way. Cheers.

I'm more concerned by the fact that everyone keeps asking me if I'm an 'auditor' when I fly a drone..... Saying that, this case law is important - Bernstein of Leigh (Baron) v Skyviews & General Ltd. [1978] QB 479. The outdated, (non Roman, yet invented in 1766 and written in Latin) legal maxim - 'cuius est solum ejus est usque ad coelum et ad inferos’ (ad coelum doctrine ).

They don't just 'audit' with drones, there is a KZbin 'auditor' covering many different subjects. One of the worst is police 'auditors'. These people create situations so that police are called and then do their best to provoke an inappropriate response from the officers. This isn't holding a mirror up to bad practice within the police force, all it does is tie up valuable police time with nothing. I got a lot of flak from one American 'auditor' and his followers by questioning his methods and the fact he was taking up the time of a number of police officers. In particular I was interested what he would think if a member of his family were being attacked but couldn't be helped because the police were responding to him instead. In the case of the video I watched, the police conducted themselves perfectly but the 'auditor' and his viewers disagreed. It's crazy that people like this even exist and that there is an audience for them. Like you said - 'a tiny minority ruining it for everyone else'
@ef7480
@ef7480 Ай бұрын
Lets hope you know your rights then when you are in a situation where police know that you are not aware of your rights. Example: Sarah Everard. 'Provoking' police is a way of making sure they police by consent. Simple concept. Agreed, some 'auditors' are a nuisance.
@deaniweenie

@@ef7480 Here's another one who has totally missed the point. It would be right If these so-called 'auditors' were showing genuine situations where they had witnessed police bending/breaking the rules during a real incident. However, these 'auditors' create fake situations and then deliberately try to provoke the police. This is wasting police time. They do it NOT to try and improve police behaviour, they do it purely for profit.

@@ianchappytube Again - you're missing the point here. Maybe you're doing it deliberately, maybe you're a so-called 'auditor' yourself. What you are showing is your true colours and allegiances. Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson are racists not because of what the media says, they are racist because of what they have said and done on camera themselves. You don't deserve a response but here it is anyway. Personally, I haven't watched any news or read any newspapers since the start of Covid when they were being reckless trying to stir up trouble. I wouldn't read The Daily Mail even with a gun to my head, I have way too much self respect. As far as these so-called 'auditors' are concerned, I have no problem with police or any authority being held to account. I have no problem with people showing genuine rule/lawbreaking situations. What I have a problem with is these so-called auditors creating fake situations to try and provoke a response (that they rarely get) which wastes valuable police time. These so-called 'auditors' are NOT doing it to make the world a better or safer place, they are NOT doing it for you and I or broader society, they ARE doing it solely for profit. They are doing it to line their own pockets. So - they are deliberately wasting police time (which we all pay for) to make money for themselves. It does not move the process forward, it does not change anything. All it does is create revenue for the 'auditors'.

Just stumbled upon your channel. The Burano would fit well for the variety of projects I do from corp/commercial to independent film. But the price is steep. So I adapted a wait & see approach here in my market. If it takes off, I'll do it. BUT I'm not opposed to buying a used FS7 on Ebay for corp/Commercial work and a Blackmagic Pyxis for Indie films. Heck, the FS7 still works on jobs and I'll save a tone of money!

Ahh, the thinking mans choice! Obviously it depends on what clients you've got, but I totally agree with you. The FS7 is still a 4K version of the F5, and it's going for a song right now. I love the Blackmagic look if you're wanting a more cinematic feel, so it would be a really cost effective combo. If only Blackmagic could support 'E' Mount. !!! I have a feeling that if Sony had called the Burano the FX9ii (and knocked 10k off the price) we wouldn't be having these conversations. It would be flying off the shelves! Take care.

Ah, but uhm, yeah, there is a problem because at some point in the future they will want to make curved-sensors. At the moment, they aren't mass-producible, but when/if they are, all current lenses will be obsolete and that is not just a problem for the consumer. Manufacturers will want to milk flat-sensors for as long as possible to recoup all the lens R&D. Then when everyone/nearly-everyone is perceived to have a lens for a flat-sensor, boom! Out comes the curved-sensor tech. A bit like what happened with DSLR/SLT to mirrorless. So even if you get your 12K double-stacked sensor, if it's flat, it still isn't the perfect camera. If they put everything in the same camera they wouldn't make as much money because camera-users make different amounts of money. The more features you need, the worse the value is, but you need those features so you'll pay more etc. Plus there are fewer pro-level users so more has to be charged to recoup the smaller production-runs. Ideally they'd make only one camera and software-lock everything(and people *_really_* hate that, but with cameras it is all the ports and dedicated switches that adds value to the user and really ups the cost of manufacture and you can't software-lock those.
