@@FixItScotty the UK where I am has its own hang ups over metric / imperial. We are 90% metric, but a large drink in a pub is still a pint and road sign distances are still miles. It would be a definite vote loser for any politician to try to turn them metric, so they won’t ever be changing. But I’m glad hardware measurements etc are mm over here.

This kind of video makes me feel happy about the internet. I just pulled my transaxle off of my 1973 bay this week and shipped it off to the folks at the repair shop. I am currently rebuilding my engine, but my eventual goal is to do an ev conversion like yours. I really appreciate your attention to detail about the differences in transaxels between different years. Hi Scotty. The VW is looking great! For future projects with our gelcoat, we recommend using our two part primer, TotalProtect, rather than the one part primer. This could be a reason as to why the gelcoat had some streaks and was rough. If you have any questions about the application process, please give our tech line a call. They would be happy to assist with any questions!

Was that can of refrigerant with stop leak safe for high voltage electric/hybrid ac compressors? I hope I'm wrong but I think you might have contaminated your ac system and made it conductive, which can cause problems with internal shorts in the high voltage electric compressor , or high voltage isolation issues.
@FixItScotty
@FixItScotty 24 күн бұрын
I have heard of special non-conductive coolant for EV motors or batteries. But I have never heard of restrictions on refrigerant for electric AC compressors, or of the possibility of the refrigerant causing a short. If you have a link or something that mentions this, let me know.

Hello! Chevrolet Volt 2017. After trying to recharge the air conditioner, the AC compressor does not start. The GSD2 scanner shows errors P1E00 and P0534. A/C Permission Data: Ambient Air Temperature (Filtered) = 29 °C A/C Low Side Pressure Sensor = 696 kPa A/C High Side Pressure Sensor - from 0 to 14 kPa A/C Compressor Clutch Inhibit Reason: "High Side Pressure Out of Range" What could be the problem? Could the pressure on the low pressure side be around 700 kPa and on the high pressure side 0 kPa? Should the pressure equalize when the air conditioning compressor is turned off? Or not? There is no leak. The sensors are OK. Thanks in advance!
@FixItScotty
@FixItScotty 26 күн бұрын
When your AC compressor is off, like I showed at 24:27, the low side could be about 100 psi (or 700 kPa), and you should still have a little pressure in your high side. Once you start the car and run the AC, the low side pressure should come down to around 40 psi (275 kPa) and the high side should go up over 200 psi (1380 kPa). Since you are only building pressure on the low side, you could have a blockage in your evaporator or a faulty AC expansion valve. Or it could also be the compressor is not getting enabled. I believe on the Volt, the electric compressor is operated by the BECM? I believe there was a service bulletin on the BECM for all Gen2 volts. I had mine replaced last year.
@user-zd1xf8vn4i
@user-zd1xf8vn4i 26 күн бұрын
@@FixItScotty Thanks for the answer! In my case the AC Compressor does not start due to low pressure on the high pressure side. Before starting the air conditioner, did you supply refrigerant from the high pressure side or did you supply refrigerant only from the low pressure side?
@FixItScotty
@FixItScotty 26 күн бұрын
@@user-zd1xf8vn4i I only supplied refrigerant to the LOW side WHILE the compressor is running. Never charge the system with it off. You may be able to take your car to the dealership or service place to have them recover or pull out the refrigerant and confirm the compressor works. Then you can follow the steps in my video to do a complete charge.

Any suggestions would be great thank you 🙏🏻
@FixItScotty

If it's only making a small sound, I would confirm your power is connected properly. If the power unit is designed for 220v, confirm you have both hot wires with 110v between each wire and the ground or 220v across both hots. Even when I primed my unit, it was loud and shook from the torque, so my guess is you are missing something in the wiring.

I just have the P25A2 code only nothing else along with it. So just replace the sensor and that will fix it? Says it’s a speed wheel sensor not an ABS sensor. I clear the code and anytime I hit a bump in the road accessibility track and everything pops up when it rains. It comes back as well when I clear the codes.
@FixItScotty
@FixItScotty Ай бұрын
I think I mentioned in this video that in a previous video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/amXWpmaDlqiVp9U), I already replaced the wheel hub. I still had the code after that, so I replaced the sensor in this video and the code finally stayed clear. It could be either the hub or the sensor or both. I can't tell you for sure which one, but if you can do it yourself, I would replace both.

Thanks for watching! I am actually converting this '78 to electric drive and am using a '72 transmission. So the axles are basically the same throughout the years. The only thing that may be a little different is the bearings. I think the part numbers are different from 68-70 vs 71 and up. I called Kohler warranty about a leak in my tub faucet and they are going to send me another Mixing Valve GP77759 (they sent one in 2016 after original failed after 6 yrs) but they said that they will not send a Pressure Balancer as they said that would not cause leaking? Just wanted your opinion Thanks,

@FixItScotty 2 ай бұрын
I'm just an amateur plumber, so I would have to take Kohler's opinion. I did another video showing how to replace Moen and Delta cartridges (kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooasmmN7pquIjtk). Kohler was the first one I have seen where the cartridge is in two parts: the mixing valve and the pressure balancer. Delta and Moen have those two parts combined in one cartridge. So it is quite possible that the mixing valve part of the cartridge is usually to blame for the leaking. I'm not sure.

Water is not going to come in from the outside. The heat chamber in the heater is so efficient that it removes most of the heat from the exhaust and because of this the exhaust will condense water inside the pipe as it cools even more on its way outside so this water condensing inside the pipe has to drain back to the heater to the condensate drain. If it becomes trapped in the line it will cause a restriction in the amount of flue gas the heater can discharge causing back pressure which can cause your heater to fault out. And you don’t put screen over the exhaust because in extreme freezing temperatures the moisture in the flue gas can freeze on the screen and restrict the discharge causing the same problem as water trapped in the pipe. These high efficiency heaters have pressure switches that detect proper flow through the exhaust and intake pipes. Just remember only the person who never does anything for themselves will never make a mistake. Keep up the good work!

Hi Scotty! This was super helpful to fix our wolf gourmet that is from 1996. I didn't need to remove the oven door spring as I was able to access the screw by just pushing aside the spring. I took your tip of connceting the ignightor directly to the spark/gas module. This old oven had an extra wire with wire connector. I learned how the ignightor would glow and one has to wait a few extra seconds before the burner goes on. When first testing and if the oven burner didn't turn on, I had switched off the oven thinking that my install wasn't proper.

Mine isn't very fast either, but 20 seconds seems quite slow. I would try disengaging the door opener and try lifting the door open and closed yourself. If you struggle greatly, it could mean your spring isn't tensioned properly or there are issues in the track or rollers. Although unlikely, you could also be on the wrong drum setting on the door opener.

Plausible, however, no Plumbing code in the United States allows sanitary Tee's to be installed on its side, and you used a pressure fitting and not a DWV fitting. What you did there would've failed inspection, and still might if the house is to be sold. Besides those 2 code violations, (3 if you count not using purple primer), Also, no self employed contractor is going to sell material "at cost", and if I was doing this job, I would've been around half the price quoted. Keep in mind, self employed contractor's aren't "hourly employees", and service Plumbers don't always have 8 billable hours in a day.
@FixItScotty
@FixItScotty 2 ай бұрын
As a pro, I hope you didn't take my video as a slight to you or the business. You absolutely should upcharge for parts and make sure your labor costs cover business expenses. This is more of an issue with code getting in the way of a reasonable fix. I'm not knocking code; it is necessary to protect from shoddy workmanship. But in addition to the code violations you mentioned, another code violation I would have gotten was, specifically in the city of Chicago, you can't use plastic drain piping on a building with more than 3 stories. This was a 4 story building (all residential). That's why the original plumber was likely going with all copper fittings. So that is 4 code violations. But, for this under-sink plumbing that has been working great for 3.5 years, these code violations don't really seem that much of a concern. Also, is it even normal to get a code inspection for simple undersink repairs like this?
