I bought one of these a few weeks ago for my mandolin. Amazingly accurate tuner, and the sweetened mandolin tuning sounds great. As for remembering which direction is sharp and which flat, the direction of apparent movement tells which way to turn the tuning key.

The scale of diminishing returns in acoustic guitar buying is perfectly balanced upon the standard D18. It is the point of maximum yield.

That is a beautiful Martin. I would love a D-35 from the early seventies. It was around that time I first started noticing Martin guitars. I've had quite a few since then, but never had a D-35. Nice video!

Please do not play the guitar, any more. You will break it. Store it in the case. 😂❤

You always make great videos... the only problem is that you don't make enough of them!!!!! D35 sounded amazing with both old and new strings. It just had a different character with the old.

I have a Martin D3 five from 1972. My parents and I chose it as a Christmas gift for me. We went into Manny‘s music in New York City and tried some Gibsons and some guilds, but my father agreed that we should spend a little bit more For a much better sounding instrument. Total price back then was $362 which included a used Gretsch case. I still have that case and I still have the guitar.

Funny thing with acoustic guitars - because of the way they project sound, you hear much more of the pick and string noise when you’re playing, whereas a listener in front, or a microphone, will pick up more of the bass and middle.

hi, that looks like a tlm 103 mic. they're great mics, but don't have a bass rolloff (HPF) on them. you'd need to cut some of the low end of that guitar in post using that mic. the d35 is known for its quite present bass response. but the guitar sounds great. the old strings were too old, but the new ones were too new. :) you need to play them in for the "goldilocks" effect. does your fiend have any other guitars that need "looking after"? :)

I came into a 1976 D-35 that has the ability to produce this bottom end and the crisp highs. A great finger picking guitar. The older strings sounded pretty good, however, the brightness of the new strings enhances the way the instrument is meant to sound. Enjoying the playing.

Great repair man. You don't like it the way I fix it, do it yourself. No. You can't choose your own strings. I'll be making that decision for you.

Love the pic of Jerry in the background. And, as a true friend let me be the voice of reason… ‘go on, get it. You deserve it! It’s a whole other pallet of colors, it could be ‘The One’! You can never have too many guitars. She’ll never know. Tell her it’s mine and I’m hiding it from the IRS. You can say it’s actually a cheap Chinese knock-off , but a really good one.. it was a steal….plus, everyone knows the optimal number of Martins to own is : Optimus primus guittarus = n(martins currently owned) + 1

Buy a Martin recycled wood laminate neck guitar close your eyes and it will sound and feel like the expensive ones. Plus you dont have to cut down rare wood trees. Even if you use a stupid reusable cup wherever you go these days no one need a solid wood guitar made from expensive tone woods.
