I stumbled upon some old literature from the 1940s through the 60s discussing this same subject of how the condition of the soil is responsible not only for plant diseases but animal and human as well and trials were conducted to show how diseases of animals like foot and mouth disappeared from farms when animals were fed pasture grown from manured land as opposed to fertilizer grown pasture.

I like Peter, but it's now nearly 2024, and he turned out to be wrong on quite a few things that he so confidently predicted. This is one of the shortcomings when you reduce EVERYTHING to numbers and data. It seldom predicts what human nature and the creative mind is capable of. All life is constantly in flux. There is no data for that flux here.

oh he is right about one thing, globalization is finished. all it takes is few cheaply made rocket and cheaply made drone from some terrorist in the red sea can grind everything into a total stop if they choose to. if not the us military still actively engaging in that region trying to protect their allies interest there will be no oil or anything for any one. I wouldn't be surprise if state sponsor piracy finally make their come back after 200 years. enjoy lol

@@laujack24 May 21, 2011 remember that? That was proclaimed worldwide as judgement day! Yeah, everybody scoffed when nothing seemed to happen. And it shall come to pass in that day, a great tumult from the Lord shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbor, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbor. Zec 14;13 Tumult = disbelief & confusion. Division is the result for the destruction of mankind. Look around lately? Have you read the news lately? Not even Brexiteers saw Brexit coming - just like nobody saw Trump coming - the 2016 referendum was all about "UK first" (rings a bell in America?), and for what? Watch now the British people picking up the pieces: GDP loss, supply friction, soaring inflation, soaring services costs, stagnant economy, political crisis. Where are all the brexiteers now??

I fundamentally disagree, it's a very fantastical story told in a modern way with starting in the middle of action like how a modern movie might start. The Iliad draws a lot of parallels between Achilles and Apollo's Μήνην (menace / μήνας). It isn't the story of nameless soldiers in a modern war, where the individual soldier is a cipher. It is a glorious recounting of war, action, sorrow, and the gods will. Achilles is so integral to the war his refusing to fight because he was denied honor and his war bride cause the Achaean war machine to grind to a halt. It is why Ουμερου (Homer) used Aristois/ Aristos for Achilles (the best among the Greeks). In a modern democratic geopolitical conflict no soldier would exchange insults, lineage, and declare an honorable duel before engaging in combat. This story is otherworldly and entirely alien to our own. Making it accessible to people ruins the alien nature of archaic / dark age Greek thinking.

Note: Homer is an artist beyond morality. She is definitely twisting the story for her own purposes. What a lame self serving stuffed shirt academic.

I sought out Dr. Mann's book, The Science of Weight Loss, the Myth of Willpower, and Why You Should Never Diet Again, precisely because she was more or less the only person saying diets don't work. Diet books filled shelf after shelf at the library, and hers was the only book saying "don't diet." Her positive messages include realistic strategies for learning to live at your "leanest livable weight," at the low end of your set weight range. Weight loss and weight management are complex, multi-faceted topics, that include science, art, spirituality, emotions, and more. I've found Dr. Mann's book helpful. At a minimum, her arguments demand consideration.

It’s so irritating that these camera people can’t show the onscreen slide presentations accompanying the talk. I used to operate a one man control room as student, while in university, where we would broadcast our engineering lectures remotely. I had two remote controlled cameras, aimed at the professor and the board. I always made sure that everything was viewable. How did I do that? By doing my job, being present and remembering that my responsibility was to the remote viewers. It’s not difficult, it just means not being lazy and doing the job I was hired to do.
