As of today I agree that rhinos and hippos are the bottom of the species. However I disagree with the koalas and the tigers. As far as my best species, sheep are my best. Bears and cubs have very sweet spots. I agree with Pekoe as one of the best. Monkeys are not a bad species, except for Elise, which she autofilled. And I strongly disagree with Frita.

Nintendo heard us say that we wanted turn based battles and they decided to be smart asses about it. That’s how we got the battle system in origami king

The ending is the most important part of any story. No matter how good an experience is, a bad ending can leave a bad taste in your mouth and make you not want to return to it. One of worst endings I’ve ever seen in a video game is paper Mario the origami king. I despise the ending to this game. It’s revealed that the reason the main villain of the game wanted to commit mass genocide, committed murder, committed attempted murder on his sister and mind control the thousands of people against their will was because his dad wrote on him, and he didn’t even bother to read what it said Also Olivia’s wish is so stupid. She wishes that all of the origami her brother folded would be undone, which includes her. The problem with that wish is that it ignores the hundreds of people that die during the game. Every enemy that you fight in origami king is being mind controlled against their will by Olly. Mario killed a ton of innocent people on his way to stop Olly and the game just chooses to ignore that. And the only thing Olivia’s wish actually does is save somebody who is kidnapped on a weekly basis, fix a castle and kill herself. And Olivia’s “sacrifice” is stupid, because it was completely avoidable if she had thought about what wish she was gonna make for more than two seconds What’s even stupider is the 1000 cranes technique. Something that was not mentioned at all during the entire game until the ending. Apparently, if you fold 1000 cranes, you are granted a wish. You’re telling me nobody has ever taken advantage of this before? Not Bowser? Not Dimentio? Nobody? Olivia doesn’t even fold 1000 cranes to get her wish. She only folds one. That defeats the entire purpose of the 1000 cranes technique in the first place. But ignoring that wouldn’t a way better wish for Olivia to have made would’ve been that after her brother folded her, he turned good. That way she would still be alive, her brother wouldn’t commit mass genocide and none of the terrible things that happened in the game would’ve happened. Bobby would even would still be alive. You could even have Kamek and Bowser jr actually sacrifice themselves and die in hotfoot crater, because their deaths would be undone. I suppose some people would have a problem with this being a “it was all just a dream type” ending but compared to the ending we got I think that’s 1000 times better Oh and the cherry on top of all of it is that the final boss is really anticlimactic and lame. What makes it suck even more is that the build up to the final boss is so good but as soon as you enter Ollys throne room everything goes downhill. I’m not saying that this ending completely ruins the entire game or anything, but it does really leave a sour taste in my mouth

I don’t mind this game having a Basic story because it’s not trying to have a grand story. It’s just trying to be a funny Mario adventure and I’m fine with that. My only problem with the story is that it’s heavily implied and then revealed that Bowser was possessed by the black paint the entire game, but they never do anything with that and then at the end of the game everyone acts like he was the bad guy the whole time even though he was doing everything against his will. It’s just so weird. I also don’t buy that Kamek didn’t know bowser was possessed. He’s smarter than that. The game also could have made the black paints plan be a lot more interesting just by using what’s already in the game. In the game black paint is extremely toxic and can kill you and it can also possess you. The paint possessing Bowser wanted to cover the entire world in black paint, so why not reveal that the reason he wants to do that is because he would kill everybody on the Earth, and then the black paint would possess their dead bodies creating a new world of paint folk that he would be the ruler of. All of the pieces are there it’s just that the game doesn’t use any of them

Paper Mario color splash could’ve been a amazing game. The graphics are amazing, the writing is top notch and easily The funniest Mario game ever made, there are levels instead of an open world but I don’t mind that because every level is fun to explore and has something memorable and interesting about it, the music is fantastic and the bosses are the koopalings but this is the one game where I don’t mind that because they actually have personalities for once. The games only major problem is the battle system which drags everything down. All the toads not having unique designs is also a problem, but I would argue that’s more of an annoyance than a major problem with the game. I believe that color splash (and origami king) would be 1000 times better if there was no battle system and every enemy was just an overworld enemy like in super paper Mario. I love color splash and I definitely think it’s the best out of the modern paper Mario games. People say origami king is better, but I just don’t agree with that. Origami king has a ton of its own problems. Anyway, well I do love color splash I know that it could’ve been so much better with just a few tweaks

This one was really conflicting for me. I'm not sure if I like more or less than Color Splash. Like, I don't think it's a bad game. Out of the modern trilogy, it has the absolute best setting, side characters and story. But on the other hand, it's battle system gets old really quick, the boss battles are a incomprehensible mess (especially the final battle) and it holds itself back creatively because of some arbitrary rules. The biggest issue is that while the battle system is a good idea, it doesn't have enough going on to be interesting longterm. By the end of the game, I was so bored of the same stupid circle slide puzzle that I started skipping battles altogether. It just really started to annoy the absolutely crap out of me. It's not bad, but it's not amazing either. A firm 7/10 for me.

this game made me so miserable that mid playthrough i took a break to play origami king start to finish. and i still love it genuinely the combat and things are the one thing holding this game back from being a fan favorite. some original character designs wouldve helped too color splash proved to me that most of the problems with sticker star were because of bad execution and not bad concept

I always thought this game looked really good and the hate were just Arlo types crapping on it because it's not TYD 2.. And I still do lol, the battle system sucks in most games anyway

Solid analysis of Color Splash! I always felt CS took a bit too much from Sticker Star and didn't really implement it as well, namely, the battle system. But I really loved the game's style and charm. Honestly didn't remember ever getting caught up in the Kamek battles (I honestly forgot it was even a thing!)

I've said it before but this game is basically Sticker Star but done right. However, it does nothing more than just that, it doesn't offer anything deeper or new to differentiate the formula. It just fixes what Sticker Star broke. Which on its own is a fun experience and I do enjoy this game very much, especially due to the hilarious writing. But it is unfortunately still forgettable. I'm glad it happened but I'm happy to move on. I'm glad the TTYD formula is coming back soon, I think it's what the series desperately needs. I DO wonder what the perception of this game would be like if Sticker Star didn't exist. Would we be as positive about it? Or would we hate it just as much as Sticker Star?
