Scott, by watching your videos you helped me to start selling on eBay. By following your guides and tips started January’24. Been very successful so far in selling, shipping, and managing my business. Been a buyer for 20 years on eBay and as a seller for 😅8 months with 100% rating. Recently sold a dehumidifier that we bought new and was using prior to listing. Item was cleaned, tested, and securely packaged for the buyer. Buyer posted a negative review stating item did not work. After seeing the negative review contacted buyer (via eBay) whom did not contact us first and suggested that item was tested prior to shipping and maybe was damaged in shipping. Told buyer to ship it back and we would give a full refund. Buyer refused to send back. Thinking buyer would remove negative rating sent buyer 100% refund. Followed eBay’s guide to ask buyer for feedback revision which they did not do. Now with 100% tarnished to 98% do you have any suggestions?

Everyone I see recommends a thermal printer but what about the packing slip? Do you not include one?

I've shipped almost 18,000 packages at this point and have never included a packing slip. And, it's never even come up. So, I don't include one and wouldn't unless a customer asked me to. I don't think it hurts anything to include one. It's just never mattered for me.

Thank you for a very encouraging and informative video! This video has helped me solidify my game plan for the better. What I liked most was the bit where you talk about the “why” and I strongly agree it is probably one of the most important things. And I just wanted to add that Apple’s model is pretty much based on the “Golden circle” theory, and they focus mainly and firstly on the “why” and it had contributed a lot to their success! And when it comes to making your weakness your strength, it’s such a great practice to have, I have been doing it without realizing what I is! My weakness is time management (I have ADHD) so since the get-go, I put a lot of preparation and pressure on myself to prioritize on this problem and I figured out a fix: I set my processing time to 3 days (not the best but I have to do what’s realistic for me and give myself some leeway) I also pre-made all the packing essentials (for me, it’s a thank-you note and a freebie) and have them ready inside all the envelopes. Then I made it a habit that the minute I have an order, I print out shipping label right away (at the minimum), and with the label ready on an envelope, I only have one thing to do, which is get the item inside and seal. It honestly saved me so much time, and kept me organized and on point. I ended up always sending the items out on the first business day. A few months in, I checked on my positive feedbacks, and there was a massive amount of good feedbacks mentioning “items delivered way faster than expected”. So I knew that was the right system to have, and I have overcome my MOST stressful part of selling on eBay.

You just need to make sure you start with something in the right category. Then, adjust your listing to reflect what you have.

Hey ChachingKing! I just had a buyer file an "Item Not Received", but the item is still in transit. It is being held up at a notoriously slow USPS processing facility in Florida. Should I still update the tracking even though it hasn't been delivered yet? I called eBay customer service and they said to do nothing right now, as the item is still in transit, but just would like your thoughts as well. Thank you so much! :)

I would do exactly what eBay is recommending. Hopefully, it will get there soon. But your odds of eBay covering it are better if you follow their instructions.

I ordered an Asus gaming laptop but received an empty 10x10x8 box instead. The seller refuses to refund my money, and eBay won't intervene until the first of the month. I weighed the box when it arrived, and it only weighed 12 ounces, while the postage claims it's 9 lbs! This infuriating guy is claiming I'm trying to take the invisible laptop that he sent and the money. The whole ordeal makes me never want to shop on eBay again.

Honestly, I don't blame you for feeling like that. I would ask your carrier if they weighed the package when it was dropped off and in route. And, I would absolutely report the fraud to the Postal Inspector.

Try to focus on doing one thing. Just by finding one item you already have that you can list. Then, focus on how to take good pictures of it. Then, list that one item. Instead of trying to figure out everything, break it down into small, manageable steps.

I watched a bunch of your videos and then got things rolling about two months ago with my eBay account, just selling things from around the house. Very slow start, but I'm learning how to do it. Ebay store with 6.6k sales here to say that you pointed out every common scam perfectly! They're few and far between but they ALL WILL happen. Notes for newer sellers: Scam 1: Very uncommon now. Don't ship til payment is received. Cancel after the 3 days. Step 2: if a buyer says to ship to another address, do as this guy said, respond with "The label is automatically printed to the address you provided. You're more than welcome to cancel and repurchase with the correct address." Ship it anyway. Item not received claim: upload tracking. Wait a few days. Gg, u win. My favorite scam to receive is the "You sent me an empty box" one. Classic. Scam 3: If tou offer free returns, ebay will automatically send the buyer a label if they open a claim. Odds are they will not even print the label. Always a surprise when a return actually gets delivered. Scam 4: Ebay will likely take your word for it if you're a good seller. Postal fraud claim, video proof, etc is way overboard and paranoid. Scam 5: Yes. If a buyer mentions feedback, report, block. Simple as that. Gg, u win. Solid video! Not sure why I watched it haha, it just happened to pop up in my recommendes

I just bought four items on eBay using the discount option on eBay listings, only 1 item showed up, not sure how to rectify the situation as the tracking shows delivered yet I paid for 4 items, how would I get help for that?

Oh, wow. So, the seller showed that all 4 items had the same tracking number? If that's the case, hopefully, it's an honest mistake. First step, make sure the weight on the package only shows that one item was shipped. Then, reach out to the sender and let the know only one item was shipped and the weight of the package reflects that. See what they say.

I recently bought another brand of label printer, but this seems to work the same. I learned the hard way that the Bluetooth feature doesn’t seem to be as much of a time saver as I had hoped. I have to save the label to a file through the eBay app, then open the printer app, find that file saved on my phone, resize and rotate the label, print the label, then go back to the file on my phone, delete the file, then delete the label from the app. I was hoping that I could print it straight from my eBay app like I could my with my ink printer, but it looks like a WiFi printer is needed for that, and the are pricy.

You are correct on every level. For me, the biggest advantage of having BT is that the printer is still available if something is happening with my computer. If you're like me, when I need to print a label, I NEED TO PRINT A LABEL. lol So, having another way t get the label printed without any downtime is reason enough. The reason I got my first BT printer was for something like this. I had a regular wired printer. After a Windows update, it caused my particular chipset in the computer we built to no longer work. Like...ever. I got around it with a BT one. I eventually built a new computer because editing videos pushed me to need to.

Whatever eBay charged your buyer for shipping goes to you. And then you pay for the label. The label isn't being paid for twice. I hope that helps.

Hi Scott, just sold an item that was originally 125.00. Buyer made me offer for $50. After some negotiations, buyer is taking it for 85.00 plus shipping. His texts through eBay were a bit strange and he spelled a lot of words wrong. I looked him up and it showed he’s a seller with 22 sales and 1,109 in feedback??? The feedbacks are duplicated a lot? What would you do? He paid already. Should I be worried?? What should I do I have to mail it by tomorrow, Thank You, Robin

If he's already paid, you need to follow through with the sale. Ebay would ding you if you didn't. It's probably just fine. Lots of people leave feedback that's very similar. It's automated a lot of the time.

You still need to have a return address of some kind. It just won't have to be your home address. I use a PO Box.

I was wondering if you go on vacation for a week or two and sale a item. Can't ship it out for few days. What's going to happen? Any way to avoid this?

Yes, you have lots of options. I leave my store on but put it on vacation mode. I can still make sales, but the shipping date isn't until I'm back home. I usually let the buyer know the extended shipping time in case they didn't see it, too. Or, you can simply turn off the ability to make sales until you get home, too.

Depending on the printer, you may need to plug it in initially to set it up. But, this one has an app, so that wouldn't be necessary. You could operate it solely on BT.

On my merch? Almost none. I don't even tell anyone I'm selling it. I usually give away my t-shirts and stuff. I've probably sold a handful of shirts in the last 6 months and given away over 300. If you wanted to sell more, you'd either need to market them or keep creating designs. I have one design that I don't market. LOL

I used my KZbin logo as an example because I didn't have to worry about any copyright stuff. BUT, I don't advertise the eBay store with my merch because I'm trying to help people looking for extra income. They don't need to buy stuff from me. But, I guess it also serves as an example that you can't just make a design and expect to rake in the cash. It still takes work.

Not cheaper. A monotone laser printer with separate drum and toner delivers the lowest cost. That label printer only prints labels on only thermal paper. My laser printer can print labels, documents, envelopes and many other items. I can print on a wide variety of media. Most of the media I print on is actually free as its left over from various lots of auction items I purchased for resale. I also have a backlog of many cases of Staples paper I purchased for $4.99 or less a case on rebate (thats 5,000 sheets per case). A single high capacity toner cartridge is rated at 12,000 pages with 5% coverage, but two labels per page take up less than 5% coverage so it prints more than 12,000 labels. I am still using the same laser printer from 2001 and have only replaced the drum once.

I believe that it is much cheaper. Laser printer shipping labels are more expensive than the thermal labels. Like you, I also have a laser printer and love it. But I wouldn't ever use it to print my shipping labels. Less convenient and more expensive. I LOVE my laser printer. I replaced an ink jet which, I'm sure we can both agree, are REALLY expensive to operate. But I don't use it for labels. That said, if someone already has a laser printer and is comfortable using the half sheet peel and stick labels, there's no need to buy a different printer.

what's he talking about they charge you a Sells percentage on your shipping charges? He didn't' explain that at all, but mentioned it. So if you offer free shipping they charge you a sells percentage on shipping? If buyer pays shipping you don't pay the percentage? Or what? ??? How is that?

You pay a percentage of the total amount the buyer paid regardless of how it's divided up between the item and/or shipping. So, if an item sold for $50 including shipping, you'd pay on that amount. If the item cost $30 and another $20 for shipping, you'd still pay eBay fees on $50. Does that make more sense?

I bought a Munbyn after I returned a Jaden's. Both print sideways. I got my grandson to come over a few times to figure it out. Hope you have a tip that can make me self sufficient with my Munbyn printer!

I think it's a Windows thing more than it's a printer thing. Windows requires you to set your preferences in two places. You have to do it in the Devices & Printers on the computer. Switch-a-Roos have gotten out of hand sold a bike part on eBay and the buyer sent a broken version of the part back. Even though I had photos of the serial number eBay sided with the buyer. Happened multiple times and eBay always sided with the scammer… moral of the story don’t sell on eBay. It’s flooded with scams

I hate that that was your experience. As far as not selling on eBay, my experience has been entirely different. There are scammers. That's why I made the video. But, it isn't flooded. It's actually pretty rare. That said, it may be entirely different in the used bike parts category. I've sold a few items there successfully, but not enough to state that I know that buying group.

You can do it all from your phone. For me, that's not nearly as convenient. BUT, I also don't like just using my phone. So, it's as much a personal preference as anything.
