Dan, thank you so much for sharing your progress! It’s incredibly motivating for me to watch. I recently started aggressive skating at a park, with the goal to skate a bowl. This week, I got my first 180 on a quarter pipe, and I’m getting closer to nailing my first bowl. Thank you for the motivation!

Awesome Fakie skating. I am going to start practice it myself because it is very hard for me to do anything backward. I am very comfortable on the flat surface, but on the ramps is quite challenging.

Hey man, what skates are these? Roces? How do they feel versus the Aeons? I just bought a pair of Aeons but I feel they don’t have stiff enough forward flex on the cuffs for me.

Hello! Many thanks for this! I always look for this kind of videos! I just wish I had enough time to practice more. Great progress Dan! It took me like 7 months only to drop into maybe 2 m. Pipe:) but of course if you progress like you do it gives you the great feeling and will to continue!

Haha actually I didn’t have my first clips, I started in September already comfortable skating forwards and dropping in and skated every day for a few months If you find me on Instagram I believe I have my one of my first sessions posted.

I have to ask. I skated in the 90s This to me is a bio 540. A misty flip was a 180. When did it change?
@dylangreene42 жыл бұрын
This is a bio 5 not a misty. Misty is a front flip late 180

Well done mate. Good progress. I’m glad you started to get those ‘old man elbows’ tucked in a bit. :p I just got my mini-ramp fakie 360’s back on lock the other day. Feel so good when you hit them doesn’t it. I reckon you’ve got plenty left in the tank to go for a front 540. ;)
@myotiswii3 жыл бұрын
I also started blading a year ago. I started because I finished school. I started at zero skill (meaning that I could not even skate backwards or jump) and I habe recently learned to air 540s in a vert (a bit over coping but not really high) and am working on my inverts, since I recently got quite good at normal handstands. Something that I haven't practiced at all are grinds since in the city we only have two different sized halfpipes and not even grind obstacles, plus I am afraid of grinding, plus it is a lot less fun to practice grinds than skating on the vert. In about a month we will get some new street obstacles so I will force myself to grind more. Even on the coping my grinds are kinda bad (I can only do Mizou and Makio) and I hope that learning grinds will also improve that. Another not so great point are bowls. We don't have one, so I have had three days in total to skate a bowl when I was out of town. Only one day vert bowl. I can kinda skate them now and I would love to do it more since it's great fun. The vert bowl is temporarily closed because of corona, and I don't really like small ramps so I guess I will have to wait :( I also can't wait to get started with backflips, flairs and all that, but indoor skating is closed because of corona and I am not gonna practice those on wood/asphalt :) but I have made some good progress on a trampoline. Sadly there are no other active bladers in my city. In a neigbouring city there are some older ones, but it is more fun to hang around with people my age, even if they are doing a different sport (bmx, skateboarders)

Congrats man, great progress! I hit a wall with those 360s on a quarter too. I will do a few and think I've got it down and then I'll loss them and either chicken out or completely stuff it. You have worked so much on riding fakie that it shows in the fakie airs, the fakie stalls, and the fakie to frontside stall! It is probably helped in your 360 airs too! I want all of those skills so bad but I am not putting in enough time on them. Hey, in the early parts of this vid were those Rollerblade Solo's? The white ones? If so, those were my first aggressive skates. They were a love hate thing for me. I liked how they looked. But they were so heavy, like tanks, and that is when I discovered I suck at skating anti rocker so I needed different frames to skate flat. I bought mine a size to big (because my Twisters were tight) so they never fit right because the Solos were much wider than the Twisters. Good and bad memories of those skates for me.

Ive recently gone back to blading. So far without injury. One thing is getting my goat though. For some reason I'm finding it hard to commit to a trick. Like a soul grind for instance. I can stall it but when I comes to actually doing the grind I can't......

Awesome progression and parks! I've never actually been to a skatepark with a bowl in my life, I think when the UK opens up again I'll have to hunt one down! I do love a good halfpipe and I always find myself wishing they were wider, so a bowls gotta be awesome cuz you can't run out of space. Respect for teaching the youth rolling that's legendary stuff 🙏

Hey I'm looking to get into it, what skates should I buy to start?
@DanRoworth3 жыл бұрын
I'd check out USD Aeons or Sways, they're by far the easiest skates to start on. Wide plates to make grinds easier, no fuss worrying about frames because they're a one piece boot/frame setup. They even do a bladies skate specifically for women 👌
