Juat got a V4 Rally and paired up the Android phone to the bike...unpaired it a couple of hours later. The Bosch system is crap and I returned to mounting my phone to the bike via Quadlock wireless system...much better. The whole pairing system that you describe is the same for me and I put it down to the Bosch system just being poorly executed. Ducati should've just paired with Apple and Android to integrate the Play and Auto systems which are so well proven that it should be a no-brainer. I've now added an AndroidAuto screen (Carpuride) which is very good, but, I have left the Packtalk Edge paired to the phone to maintain Cardo voice-command functionality because pairing everything to the AndroidAuto unit means the Cardo voice commands don't work (the same as when connecting to the Ducati/Bosch system). It's frustrating and is probably just a software upgrade away from being a decent integrated system. With the Ducati being such an expensive machine, you'd think it was worthwhile paying for the Apple/Android systems. Great video as always.

Not too good with cars, but my partners grandpa passed away about a year ago, and we kept his pride and joy(2005 Chevy corvette) in the family. First thing we noticed was that the service tire code was consistently on, we thought it was because of a small hole in the back passenger tire as we had to put air in it maybe once or twice a week. Recently I’ve been getting service active handling system/ service antilock brakes/ service tire monitor pop up all at once. The ABS and traction control lights on the dash have been staying on as well. I’ve also noticed that when I push down on the brakes and let off the brake lights are staying on but I put my foot under the brake and push up on it and I can hear a little click noise and feel it on the shifter. I’ve been googling, going through forums etc but this video was the first time I’ve heard someone mention anything about the brake lights possible being an issue. The car still drives fine but these codes constantly popping up on my screen are just driving me crazy and I can’t seem to figure out what’s going on and I don’t have the money to take it in to try and get it figured out. SOS lol

It didn't take long for that to go out the window with parts strewn all over the garage floor. Superb video. I recently purchased the 2022 V4S after 20 years of riding BMW GS and GSA's. It's difficult to make a side-by-side comparison but thus far the Ducati is a superior bike for long distance rides. I have not and will not take the Ducati off road, but the highway performance is far superior to the BMW -- less buffeting and better acceleration. I am a 76 year old BMW advocate, but the Multistrata V4 S is a worthy competitor.

Experienced a strange problem (as yet unresolved by Cardo support) with Packtalk Edge Duo. Turned on first unit and paired with the app; changed language to English (UK); update required and loaded slowly, but successfully. Turned on second unit and paired with app; changed language; update required; "OOPS - something went wrong". Repeated multiple times but always the same error. Tried connecting to Windows updater tool but still fails. HOWEVER, if I do not change the language, no update required? It cannot be just a language issue as the first unit worked, but does this mean that I can never update the second unit for future firmware updates?

@@philipdavis8286 that sounds frustrating I'm glad Cardo has already reached out to you. Paring is a super simple process and that is what these units are designed to do. It is convenient when they come in a dual pack since they are already paired but it is effortless to pair new units together.

Did you notice any changes to the sound with the new air filter? I'm doing the Akra exhaust in a couple of weeks and am wondering if I should throw one in for throatier sound and more induction noise. I'm not expecting any performance increases, just doing it to save on future paper filters but mostly for sound.

That's tough to answer. The Akra exhaust really drowns most of it out. I want to say I feel like there is a little more induction noise, but that may just be in my head.

I am contemplating the purchase. However I want to know how does wireless airplay impact the phone battery life? Does the constant Bluetooth connection drain the battery? anyone noticed any phone heating up or phone battery drain issues, etc?
@4KMotoring10 күн бұрын
While these systems have improved over the years with updates, they use Wi-Fi connections and are actually pretty power hungry. If you do a lot of short commutes you won't have any problems keeping the phone in your pocket, if you do long trips you'll want to put your phone somewhere on a charger.
@PrashanthDengody10 күн бұрын

pretty sure the accessory wire in the power loom is so that it knows when the bike is switched on - not to keep the device powered all the time. 👍
@4KMotoring12 күн бұрын
As I read the instructions further, apparently this allows the bike to keep the dash cam recording even when off. Typically, devices that only need to know when the bike is powered on will only have a positive and negative, with a positive being a switched accessory wire so the device only powers on when the bike is on. This has an included accessory wire, allowing the device to retain full 12 volt power at all times, only switching the display on and Bluetooth/ Wi-Fi connections on when the bike is turned on
@mmmmbeeeeer12 күн бұрын
ah, so perhaps it's more that the accessory wire is the 'normal' configuration and the extra wire is actually the positive connection directly to the battery which provides the always-on voltage. 😀

nice review by the way. I'm tossing up between this and the new BMW specific version which has integration with the BMW TPMS but no cameras.
@4KMotoring12 күн бұрын
Oof, that's a tough decision. My understanding is that the BMW GPS is basically a Garmin zumo xt2, which is what I run on my Ducati. To simplify, here are my thoughts on the major differences. If you ride in areas frequently without cell service or off-road, the Garmin GPS will be the only option for you. It's well made, does some pretty cool things and is very easy to live with. It also handles managing some of your phone functions if you need it to. This Chigee AIO-5 is incredibly well made, and packs a ton of features. Ultimately, if you don't want to put your phone on the handlebars this is probably the product for you as it replaces all the functionality in a convenient package, with the edition of blind spot monitoring, backup camera, and always recording dashcams.

Also use better pads. EBC or Hawk. The rotors do not out gas pads as modern pads do not out gas. They will clean the pads of dust and water.
@4KMotoring15 күн бұрын
For street use, the power stop Z28 formula is pretty good. I've run EBC in the past with good results, but would really look hard into mechanically adhered friction material if I was tracking the car more frequently.

Rotor is not warped. It is either rotor thickness variation or you needed to bed the pads in. The brake material is not coated even on the rotor. Rotors don’t warp.
@4KMotoring15 күн бұрын
Well, this is at least the second set of pads on these rotors, with the current set having about 15k miles on them before the vibration started. Whether it's true metal thickness variation, irregular heat treatment, or the more likely irregular deposition of pad material, there was enough of a change in rotating thickness to induce vibration. For simplicity, most humans call that "warping"

Had the fuel line issue with my 2015 as well. Cause is a weakened fuel line connection on top of the left side of fuel tank. This plastic connector becomes weak after a few removals and allows the black fuel line to pop out. I got fuel all over my helmet, jacket and bike at around 50 mph. A simple fix is to wrap a platic zip tie around this connect holding the 4 moving tabs in once connected. In addition mine bike also has head shake at high speeds. Solution was steering damper. Fuel sender has been replaced 3X. Current version is "G". Clutch slave went at around 11k miles. Solutions was to replace with Oberon unit.
