Definitely worth changing. I had a lot of electrical grief till the Auto Sparkie replaced mine a few years ago.

You read my mind. I was going to ask you about your terminals. I think they're a good idea. And I didn't know about the fuseable link on the 80 neither. Though I'm not having any electrical issues with my 80 (touch wood). But I'll check them out tomorrow anyway. Learnt something new about the 80 today. Thanks for making & sharing the video. 👍

You are super lucky. My 80 has had numerous people changing wires and stuff. I have numerous electrical gremlins. I’m glad I was able to share some knowledge

Thanks for the info. My 1991 has disco lights on dash (flash and go bright then dim as driving so I call them disco lights), the indicators on dash sometimes work and interior light is similar so keen to give this a shot as probably easier than pulling dash apart again!. Never even thought of the fusible link until this video

Check out my video on the alternator plug my dash lights were doing the same as the turbo pipe was bumping the plug on the back of the alternator. I made 2 videos on this the first just tried to fix the touching issue but I ended up replacing the plug in the second and that solved the blinking dash lights issue Links below.

@@blackllama1 Cool thanks for that. Mines non turbo and from memory the rear of alternator is all clear. Will check it out when have time anyway. My original thought ws that I have LED lights in dash and they may be bad or bad earth for dash cluster so was going to change cluster out and try that

Cheers for the video. I am currently in the middle of ignition lock assembly and starter switch replacement DIY and I am the original owner of a 1996 80 1fzfe GXL. Just installed all new Toyota steering ignition lock assembly and main starter switch, but still no power to ignition even though all installed . The reason is, I F'd up and tried to bridge the old switch during disassembly and think that I shorted something . Hmm yeh kicking myself. Anyway I created a new problem when disassembling the original when I tried to affix the starter switch " with cable ties of course" to the neck of the exterior neck of the ignition shaft lock assembly near where the key hole is. The original fault was a snapped steel key shaft within the steering lock assembly shaft/brace, it snapped at the switch end. Anyway I noted that if you removed the switch and kept the two exterior key sensor wires attached you can activate the vehicle. And I started it and and restarted multiple times in the shed. Then I thought if I could attach the switch where I could access it So I could drive it .Anyway I must have either stretched or Earthed a wire to an earthed metal surface. and accidentally earthed "some portion of the wiring and now now power except for a red tight in dash. But nothing on instrument panel (other than the red single light top right of panel assembly. So now after installing brand new switch Toyota Japan and lock assembly , all Installed OK but the same problem of no power, except the single red light in the instrument panel top right. The head light work and the open door indicator in the instrument panel works but nothing else when I turn th ekey. I suspect it could be an easy fix like a fusible link that I had no Idea of it other than I suspected there would be a trip , weak point. I'll give it a go. Any suggestions of other things I I may look at. Cheers Phillip

@@JaxTellerRC haven’t had it in long but windows seem to go up and down faster. And haven’t had radio drop out/ off. There is sone other niggles that time will tell. But I seem to have much better voltage to everything since I changed it. Oh and air con/ heater fan blows loads harder now

Instead of them battery blocks you can run a busbar instead with anm fuses and you can delete the fusible link then. Those 2 wires are related to your alternator,ignitiion,and glow

Great video, I carry spare fusible links in my truck, you never know when or where they will be needed. What year is your 80 series? Looks a lot like mine.

Can you run a ignition live fuse box for Radios?
@blackllama1 Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what you are asking. This is the link that connects the power to the main wire harness. You can wire anything else in separate to this that you want. My radio is not original and runs its own fuse system
