You're just wrong on the character writing aspect. Faster-paced writing is NOT inherently worse than slower-paced writing. Sublety exists in BOTH shows. What Vince was able to do with Walter White without truly using flashbacks as a literary device was honestly amazing. He cooked equally hard on both shows. Regardless this video has little to do with character writing and writing in general. This video's about Breaking Bad's horrendous spanish-speaking/acting from the actors, and BCS wasnt much better in that front for the most part. Lalo was the only character that spoke like a true Mexican(Bolsa wasnt too bad either tbh)..

Honestly most of the Salamanca/cartel stuff is the weakest element of the show. They seem to operate on an entirely lower level of consciousness and brain power. The cartel goons always do the most NPC brainless thing the writers need them to in order to show off or contrast a clever maneuver done by Walt, or Mike or Gus etc. Then in BCS they over compensate for this with Lalo who's practically fucking Batman. He's able to maneuver around Gus's forces and put a team of like 30 people on defense which is kinda ridiculous. I think Lalo John Wicking his way out of his casa shootout is the dumbest thing in both shows. Overall the Cartel feel like Saturday morning villains compared to the shows more central characters.

I think that is good because it makes the atmosphere feel dirty and claustrophobic, makes you feel a small amount as uncomfortable as the characters who aren't used to the area

Common misconception but there's more scenes without the filter than with. The main one that has the filter is the Gus origin, and there it can be explained that it's because it's a flashback (they use different color gradings for flashbacks/forwards all the time).

The writers just wanted to use a lot of the actors from movies like Scarface and others to play their own crime bosses, another point I'd like to make is that the character writing of better call saul is pretty inarguably better than breaking bads. Just two examples Jimmy and mikes characters feel so fleshed out that jesse and walts characters feel almost one note in comparison not discounting the clearly way better chemistry that Cranyston and Aaron paul have. Lastly better call saul gave us at least one conversation between native Spanish speaking actors when tony dalton came on the scene, so clearly the writers are self aware of this flaw.

I always assumed Don Eladio used more simple Spanish because he was Greek, it made sense for his character. I think you're just very proud of the language you speak, and you don't really have any actual criticisms for the show. I think the slow delivery on those lines in intense moments makes them really stand out more than constant talking during such an important moment like the character's death you showed. Not all Spanish people have to be the same, let a villain villain out!
