Jednak jakoś nie mogę się przekonać do jego gry. Pomijając wielką liczbę nietrafionych dźwięków, to i tak to nie jest frazowanie chopinowskie. To raczej jazz, rozrywka, zabawa, a cały koncert to impreza. Jego podejście do muzyki kontynują teraz Matsujev, Wang, Lang, Olejniczak, Argerich, Barenboim, Ratle i inni. To jest muzyka poważna i nie każdy ma do niej predyspozycje, więcej, tylko jednostki potrafią ją odpowiednio traktować, a sale koncertowe to świątynie sztuki, gdzie nie ma miejsca na rozrywkę.

The whole performance is amazing. But the passion Horowitz displays in the third movement is quite revealing. At the time of the US and USSR, NATO and the Warsaw Pact, the world was concerned about nuclear holocaust. Nowadays, we’ve added global extinction thru bioterrorism.

The second scherzo movement starts out fueled with rapid accents and experiences a considerably somber closing which as such an ending turn is the perfect tempo to blend in with movement 3, ' the marche funubre '

There is no doubt that he plays it perfectly! He even plays it with perfectly beautiful dynamics. But that is in fact his very problem. Daniil Trifonov plays it better... I would even say far better. And I know this might just come down to the difference between personalities who prefer perfection, and those who prefer less perfection and more soul.
