When nice people snap, its worse than when your average person snaps. Nice people have a larger bottle for storing anger, which means they dont release it as much. But once this bottle does fill up, theres so much more being let out than usual. TLDR; nice people snap worse but less often

You left out some information about some of these races but it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme because it was such a good video anyways and with some choice choices on the races included, and great job otherwise with the history/context to these.

That 2011 race at Fontana is the race that made me a Harvick fan. I had never really had a favorite driver. Had guys I liked or disliked, but nobody I'd buy merchandise for. Then Harvick pulled off one of the most amazing, clutch final-corner passes I've ever seen in my life (still to this day 13 years later) on the defending series champion. And I was sold. To this day, Kevin is the only "favorite driver" I've ever had.

The most clutch driver in NASCAR history is Jimmie Johnson. I have calculated this. Johnson has an 80-35 on track record on the final lead change of a race. Harvick's is 61-43... still great but definitively worse. Not to mention he won titles most times he was in contention for them while Harvick didn't... Harvick is admittedly the driver the media HYPED as the most clutch driver, but it's not correct. Just like they hyped Ryan Newman as the "hardest driver to pass" when he has the worst career lead change record of any major NASCAR Cup star 1985-present (131-202). Admittedly, few people before me did this sort of research...

Even though 2022 wasn't the ass whooping from the year prior for him, its impressive to at least be able to brag about winning in the next gen car on it's debut year with the shitshow it was. After that it was just back to 2021 for Larson. It's scary to see how fast he can adapt to something like that.

The fact that Harvick one his first race in his third ever start by out-dueling the best in the sport at the time, Jeff Gordon, (who was still at or darn near his best) should’ve told us he would be good. To not make a “rookie mistake” while FINDING a way to beat Gordon clean when Jeff didn’t really make any mistakes (he got loose on the last corner, but he’s still able to drag race Harvick back to the line without hitting him) told us everything we really needed to know about Harvick’s “clutch” gene. Looking forward to the inevitable HoF induction when he’s eligible and we can safely say we WILL know where that induction came from

Don't get political please. I think the only reason NASCAR made a EV car is because of the green new deal. It stated that all cars manufactured would have to be EV's/hybrids by 2030. I think nascar only made this hybrid car because of that.

Being clutch is such an underrated stat in NASCAR. 9/10 people only think about being clutch in a championship since rarely in standalone races, in every overtime, or 1 on 1 duel late in a race it comes down to how much ice you truly have in your veins, AND NONE HAS EVER CAME CLOSER 2 THE CLOSER
@seannolan9857
@seannolan9857 26 күн бұрын
While I do believe Harvick is one of the all-time best, the stats don't exactly support the narrative of him being the most clutch. Since the invention of loop data in 2005, Harvick has had 71 races where he had the highest driver rating. He won 56 times during that period. The noteworthy "where did he come from" wins don't equal the sheer number of races he should have won but didn't. That award should probably go to someone like Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards or Brad Keselowski, who have considerably more wins than they should have.

Harvick won more than half of those RCR wins in cars that had no business being near victory lane. Jimmie Johnson is one of the greatest ever, but Jimmie never had to race bad or mid-pack cars. I have huge respect for Keselowski winning races in cars that probably shouldn't. People often overlook the equipment some drivers have raced. When Jeff Gordon came to Hendrick, that team was winning 2-4 times a year. HMS wasn't the team it was when Jimmie came along. Harvick won 23 races for RCR; more wins than EVERY other driver he was teamed with there combined. (Some of those teammates were bums though)
@seannolan9857
@seannolan9857 25 күн бұрын
@@mrwest231 His teammate record is exactly why I rank him above Busch and Johnson overall. But that doesn't change the fact that there were plenty of races in his SHR days that he should have won but didn't. How much you can get out of a car and how much you can be counted on with two laps to go are different skills, and in that particular area, Johnson shines. In over 69% of the races were he was involved in the final lead change, Johnson was the guy passing for the lead. No one from 1985 to the present has a higher percentage in that stat.

Not to discredit Harvick, but Jimmie's comeback career didn't exactly help his average finish stat...
