Unusable Package Service is my acronym for UPS. You will never get to use one of their packages 2nd hand. All packages come looking like they were used in the opening of the movie Pet Detective in the elevator door scene opening and closing on it hearing glass smashing about 8 times. Hysterical accuracy so I avoid them like the plague.

Many years back Cole's Power Models had a kit to make a Holt H75 engine which was castings you machined and such. Quite a project. Also, larger at about 77 cc. I considered making one to see if it would have enough power for a one-inch scale "doodlebug" which would be a gas-mechanical powered railroad car. I did buy a set of their plans to study first, and they were extensive. Alas, I did not proceed. Holt 75 tractors were made 1913 to 1924 and a couple thousand used in WWI.

Great video as usual, however id noticed, The shaft the fan sits on is bent at 6:56, oil is pouring out of the lower side of the pushrod at 11:48 and something melting around the spark plug boot at 12:02, whatever hit this engine did more damage than just the fan shroud and radiator..
@DougCurtis_plus2 ай бұрын
It looked like when he added the water to the radiator he didn't turn the engine over to circulate water through the rest of the system (hoses or engine), so it was probably low on coolant once it ran for a bit and got hot.

This is a REVERSE ROTATION engine. Look at which way the drill turns the engine at 11:19. The output shaft, not the accessory end of the engine, should turn clockwise when seen from the back of the engine, which on rear-drive cars is typically right behind the radiator. This is how aircraft reciprocating engines in the United States work. When you are sitting in the cockpit of a light aircraft with a piston engine, you will note that when the engine starts you will see the blades go from left side of the airplane to the right side of the airplane, this is standard rotation. There are some Honda car engines that spin the wrong way, and the British and Russians have produced some reverse rotation engines, but generally they spin clockwise seen from behind the engine, output shaft forward. He contends that the fan and water pump spin the wrong way; I suggest that he is starting the engine backwards~

Also that don't look like shipping damage, I just don't see how that could have been damaged during shipping, cause it seemed to be very snug in the Styrofoam, I think that damage was done at the factory cause when it's packed in Styrofoam like that then there's no way that damage could be done from shipping cause the Styrofoam would cushion it from getting jarred around.

The packaging was quite sturdy with a massive foam buffer. I would say this one is on the courier company mishandling the package.
@adamorsini45853 ай бұрын
@@AJRestoration it didn't look that way to me. The engine should have been wrapped in bubble wrap and the foam as another protective layer in the box.
@MarekLewandowski_EE3 ай бұрын
@@AJRestoration what one can see in this video is the difference between a packaging that IS good vs. a packaging that LOOKS good. This foam looks professional, but is bad packaging here. Think about packaging in the same way as you think about car shock absorbers. If you put too stiff ones on, the ride will be harsh. If you prevent movement of the cargo within the package, it’s like there was no packaging at all, every shock will transfer directly to the load. What could be good packaging here: a hard foam cut out so, that it makes contact only with the base board on the bottom and the cylinder block on the top, leaving 1cm / 0.5in gap around all the weaker components. This hard foam carrier should be wrapped in something like bubble wrap, that has a lot of ‘give’ so that the hard foam cell is suspended inside the box in a soft cushion to catch shocks due to drops. When you look at the outer package at the beginning of the video you will notice, it was not heavily damaged, so all the issues are due to a simple drop from hand height, something that’s absolutely normal in package handling.
