I grew up in Detroit, a real hockey town, and I was always told that Black Canadians invented this game. Didn't get past the intro but you don't seem to mention this.

Playing out of Boston area in the 1970's we'd go to Canada every year to play their All Stars, we'd stay with the families of the players, we were treated so kindly, until we got on the ice, my best memories are playing hockey in a different Canadian city every year. 🇺🇸🏒🇨🇦

Such a concerted effort to bury the memory of Doug Harvey in this series. The man ranked behind only Bobby Orr as a defenceman. You can see Orr saying his name as a defenceman he admired. To bury his memory is disgusting.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJnQk6V3itema9Usi=RIcdugBL8tFgQTd7 Imperialist owners stole the game from slaves. How about promot that. Truth hurt, but this is the reality. History is written by a bunch of delusional greed mongers imperialist elits. First , Imperials were stealing resources and land from others, then they steal ideas that will be become business corporation. Good job, and then they have audacity to call us aliens, criminal, taking jobs, and bunch other whiny bs.

I always wanted to go to Montreal Forum (to see hometown Sabres vs. Canadians) but it never came to be. Same for Maple Leaf Garden. The one and only time I stepped foot into Maple Leaf Garden was for an Alice Cooper & Motorhead concert. Circa 1987.

The NHL is an uneducated league . They say that Gordy Howe is Mr Hockey, that’s a insult, Mr Hockey is Maurice Richard, that shows you hockey is full of racism, Because the Rocket wasn’t Anglo, and Gretzky was a wimp never could take a check, Mario Lemieux is the the real great one if he didn’t have his injuries he would’ve broke Gretzkys records. I’m I French no but I see the stereotype in hockey. Hockeys future will always be the Fifth team sport behind soccer, football baseball and baseball, and I like it like that.

1:54 too true. I’m 28 and from Texas, have always respected hockey but was never really into it. Finally went to my first NHL game (Islanders @ Stars) and 3 weeks later here I am watching the history of hockey videos. Once hockey grabs you, it grabs you. Thanks Canada 🇨🇦 🫡

That we came together to pay for a ‘Canada Cup’ to give to the Russians, after that great turd Eagleson did what turds usually do, is more of a reason than anything why I’m proud as a Canadian.

Watched this series in a day, excellent perspectives. My Father's family immigrated from Quebec province, from just outside of Montreal, to Chicago in the 1880's. I grew up as a hockey fan, not just as a Black Hawks fan and the NHL history resonated. As a boy, my Dad went to games in the 1930s and he took me to games in the early 1970s. I took my nephew to his first game. It is in the blood and I totally relate, in an almost mystical way, to the Game and the Canadian mindset. Personally, I had great hockey skills. I've wondered, sometimes, if my forefathers had stayed in Quebec, would I have been a rink rat, or had the chance to hoist the Cup. Hockey is life.

Im a American and i hates when Fox introduced the Highlighted Puck. Thank the Hockey Gods it did not last very long. Man those days were so different. This was right before the internet took off as well. Id do anything to go back to life as we knew it back then.

Eagle went down as the biggest sore loser in all of Canada. He was pretty much Blacklisted. All those years later i wonder if he ever regretted not letting the trophy leave Canada. He sounded like a idiot when he said “ this belongs to the Federal Government, It’s Not going anywhere, Period “ Definitely a cheap move. Hockey was just crazy at that time. Then Came along Mr Smith and Mr Ed made some Peaches and Cream and the soviet diplomat’s accepted the Trophy later down the road. Crazyness is what the Sport of Hockey was back then. It is so amazing watching this entire documentary in full and see how the game evolved into today. Hockey was Always built on Speed, Physicality and Skill. Nothing will EVER change that.
@howardcraigiv518 Жыл бұрын
The USSR would of did anything to win Game 8. Everyone knows that Hockey is Canada’s Sport. They invented the Game of Hockey in their Home Country. The Sport was created to bring Canadians together as 1. Only here in the United States of America Hockey is not viewed as 1 of the Top 3 Professional Sports. It is mind blowing. I played the sport throughout my life along with many other sports and Hockey hands down is the hardest most grueling Sport of them all, next to MMA and Boxing

There’s a Canadian KZbinr named JJ McCullough that makes great videos on this subject - basically that Canada’s entire raison d’etre is defining itself in contrast to the US. They’re practically the same country with the same North American English speaking culture (Quebec being the outlier). No two nations on earth are more economically intertwined, they’re basically already a single country in all but name.

The Rocket was an amazing hockey player, 1963 was when I first watched the NHL from Boston, I played allstars in 1970 to 1976 visiting a different city in Canada each year, the Canadian families who housed and fed us treated us like kings, I'm forever grateful to Canada giving me the best years of my life, I've stood on many Canadian rinks while the national anthem was played, even though I'm an American, Canada is deeply rooted in my soul. I know the Canadian anthem by heart. Thank you Canada and to the Rocket. 🇨🇦🏒🇺🇸

I visited the WW2 prison camp made famous for The Great Escape in Poland in 2017. In a display, there were hockey sticks, hockey equipment, including skates and pucks sent to the Canadian prisoners through the International Red Cross. They played outdoors in the winter "until the sticks broke". They used the broken sticks to work the air pump they made for the escape tunnel. 😉
