I’ve always compared it to like Minecraft…. Like ya you can just cut wood… or you can go to the end fly enchanted armor… like the only thing that limits you is you..

OSRS and Wow Classic are two very different beasts, but both probably at the top in their own respect. I feel like OSRS is much more grindy and a much bigger timesink for casual players, though its content grew so much while still staying true to the old runescape. WoW should have gone this route when classic launched in 2019. It would have been the biggest thing ever now. But wow classic from 1-60 is probably some of the best MMO levelling ever. The world just feels cohesive and alive with the people in it. TBC ruined so much of that already.

I played WoW since the 2004 public beta, hardcore raided for 30hrs/week through all the progression tiers, and continued through Burning Crusade and beyond, so I’m a prime candidate for WoW Classic. I reached L32 or so, but after realizing I’d been slowly running continuously for like 15min to complete one quest, I just couldn’t do it anymore. That was my “Quit Moment”. I couldn’t muster any more energy to go through it all again. I’m not a very nostalgic person to begin with, so I have a harder time getting much satisfaction out of replaying through old content. I want new experiences.

I had never thought about the cosmetics issue. You're completely right. Part of an MMO was always seeing people with cool stuff and that being a shared experience "oh that person must have cleared <raid>". Now it's just somebody put their credit card number into the store...

You should look at Single player RPGs. There's one that has a beginner quest where you can convince someone to not hang themselves... That isn't a joke or exaggeration, that's actually a quest (you can also help them kill themselves.)

Lvling 1-10 in Vanilla WoW imo does an amazing job as a tutorial.. Giving you a minimal amount of skills to work out problems with, then getting enemies to where you need to interupt/silence/cc in some way or another.. It does it really damn well. The game doesn't tell you its teaching you, but it is.. The issue is teaching the player dungeon mechanics in the real world

The ability to achieve some kind of imbalance and take pleasure in it - that’s the core of Vanilla. The current obsession with "balance" kills the feeling of ultimate uniqueness in your chosen path. Yeah, at some point, some classes (like Warlocks) can be unbearable, but that’s the point. You want to achieve something no one else can compete with. As a Warlock or Priest, you might feel untouchable at times. As a Paladin, you’re loving that bubble and free mount that sets you above the rest. As a Shaman, you get to enjoy your free raid slot & wolf form, speeding past others who don't get it until level 40. As a Rogue - you are the one for PvP and unlocking chests. As a Warrior, you're the tank. Each class has its own ultimate ability, making them irreplaceable in certain situations. And that’s what makes it great.

the blaming the social media for problmes caused in youth is just false XDD parents are to blame for not education their kids or give a shit about them... even before socials it was exactly the same: kids did stupid shit, were depressed and anxious.. the only thing socials did was to bring light on how much of it everyone missed, its talked about more... the rest is the flaut of their parents who dont teach them right from wrong XD U ALL NEED TO ASK YOUR PARENTS WHAT STUPID SHIT THEY WOULD DO WITH THEIR FRIENDS BACK IN THE DAY; JAWS GONNA FALL TO THE FLOOR... as they did the weirdest shit

FFXIV story dungeons now have NPC party members if you want them. So you can have a player group, or you can have any combination of players and NPCs, or just NPCs.

No offense, but your Bethesda take is way off. Skyrim is a shadow of what Morrowind is (and I say this as someone who played Morrowind after Skyrim). Bethesda is absolutely an example of a game company watering down their games, removing features, and simplifying design to appeal to the broadest possible demographic, and Skyrim is a prime example of that. Bethesda is part of this problem.

So as one of the people who used to be a top player in curse, never expected to see it here, the game has really come far from where it was and what kept me there so long was how nice the developer was and how much he communicated with the community I don't know what it's like these days though.

The only PvP I really enjoy regularly is in OSRS, maybe like once or twice a year I play a league of legends &/or apex legends round. I think PvP has a place in MMOs, but you can't force players to go into it. OSRS is the only MMO I've ever enjoyed PvP in. People complain about the wilderness, but in reality you basically never need to go there. You can drop clue scroll steps out there, you can beat every boss (aside from wildy ones) without ever stepping foot out there, and a there's not even many people roaming about for kills anymore. Lots of people go play Bounty Hunter, LMS, Soul Wars, hop onto PvP worlds, etc... Then there are even seasonal gamemodes like DMM which is all PvP, or Leagues where you can kill people and they won't even lose 5 minutes of progress. OSRS does have some serious issues with PvP, mainly the way combat levels are calculated, the limitation of 99HP (120 with a boost) with no damage reduction, and in the wilderness' case, the lack of preparation from the victim. Defence is partly meaningless when all it does is reduce the chance that you get hit by an attack, the best it does is actually boost your damage output or help you sustain long battles thru the better gear. There is no PvP gear, abilities or gear enhancements that increase resilience, only ones that increase damage (like on the Dbow). The new weapons make it possible for a lvl 80 (with very good luck, mind you) to literally 2-shot a maxxed, lvl126 account. This results in mid-high levels having to "safe" and camp high HP the whole fight. Unfortunately, a lot of PvPers just care about the KO, and they will ditch the fight if possible when they waste a spec, rather than battle to the finish. If you're against a skilled opponent, it's technically not even possible to avoid being "chanced". Which is why a lot of people use pure accounts, since it's less about KO rng. People complain about the wilderness all the time, but when they go out there they are not prepared for the smoke. Many times they don't even bring supplies to *attempt* to survive an attack. They'll curse at you when you attack them, for some reason, even though they made the choice to step into an obvious PvP area. Noobs are scared of it, mostly because of pures, and they don't even really have a solid reason to go out there, yet they do and get clapped because they have no idea what they are doing. It doesn't help that late game PVMers (and PVPers alike, to be fair) are quite toxic about gear upgrades. Enter a late game raid without the BIS magic cape that only provides a couple percent DPS increase, which is unlocked from the wilderness? Noob. Try to boss with some buddies in your quest cape instead of a fire cape because you've never fought Jad? Noob. Mid level players are pressured to be efficient and get the best gear (especially ones that are untradable unlocks and not restricted by how much money you have) I still have fun with it, I haven't played my pures for over a year now but I enjoy all the PvP minigames on my main and look forward to each DMM seasonal mode. I think there's a place for it in Runescape,

I know its not an mmo rpg, more just like a... co op rpg, but I would be interested in seeing your reaction to genshin, it mixes a lot of mmorpg and regular rpg systems together with some phone game stuff as well.... so it would be interesting to see your reaction/review to it. You clearly know of it, but no clue how much you actually know or have played if at all, either way, I think it would be something interesting..

I think ff14 has the worst new player experience because even to just get to "the good parts" it's 50+ hours in and you have to go through an 80 chain quest that is nearly all exposition and back and forth questing. It stinks. But you can easily sidestep it by going to different areas, grinding up classes etc. Would definitely not recommend trying to bang out those quests. You will burn out.

my dream is to make a 2d mobile mmo with pixelated graphics, with cross play ofc, and no micro transactions, no auto anything, just grind and grind and rise to the leader boards, the controls might be simple since its only tapping, but i will make sure that the combat animations and mechanics will make up for it, think of it like an undead slayer clone, but mmo and is pixelated
