Thanks for the beautiful video !! Please make more of film comparaisons because it will help people to tweak film simulations that are matching the real film. Awesome channel , I’m so glad to find you guys !!!😍😍❤️

This is so rare to watch a video comparison with a real classic camera and digital camera on KZbin! Thank you very, very much for that! I always wanted to reproduce classic films, but I never saw someone like you doing this with those photo cameras, the same day, with the same condition, same light, etc. it's so great! I always loved the dark green color in classic cameras instead of electric or glowing green. And the red, darker with a little bit of orange in it. Like an old Ferrari from the 70s almost, if you like.

Haha, we made this video for fun also because we wanted to see how it'll fare against the actual film it mimics. It definitely is not the most accurate comparison but I'm glad you like it!

@@Project3635 My opinion is that if you want the film look use the film, the simulations arent that close and are not going to give you what you want. Velvia 50 especially is shockingly vibrant, much more so than the film profile would be.

You can change the white balance in the digital camera to match somewhat the film look. Try it!

noritsu scans tend to get a litlle magenta shift too, great video

most of your problems come from white balance. The film is fixed but the digital can adapt to normalize the image. The purple hue doesn't exist in other lighting conditions and you can simply add the purple hue in camera with the WB Shift. Provia is one of the most versatile films fuji has so its branded as PROVIA/Standard

This was a great comparison. I've been thinking about doing this with my x100t as well. The Velvia is really best for landscapes like you said. The film sim Velvia more closely resembles film Pro 400h, in my opinion.

I know! But I received a tip from a friend that perhaps you could try turning off the AWB and see if that helps in keeping the Velvia and Provia tones. :D Let me know how it goes!

No it’s not ressemble pro 400H at all. It’s a good starting point to edit later in Lightroom to make it look like Portra 800 or 400H. What closely ressemble 400H is Provia or Pro Negative high +1 or +2 (best) overexposure

Film scans need some corrections in the post, and would be better if film was scanned in Coolscan. Fuji digital jpegs looking more analogue and filmish straight out of camera with fujixweekly recipes.If all conditions are met, you can get approximately similarities.

As you can see dont rely on profiles the film is better than the simulation if thats what you want.

Are you sure you didn't get stuck with expired film stock? That velvia film looks nothing like the real velvia.

good comparison, but ya photography is so boring
@Project36355 жыл бұрын
Hi Marcus, while we appreciate every comment and feedback I'd like to point out that giving feedback like "your photography is so boring" not only feels personal but doesn't help us at all. We like to think that every comment points out something that can be improved. In this case, your comment is not only very subjective, but also limited to the locations that we have and the photographers who are able to appear on the channel. This channel is not our full time job and I'm not sure if you know this but starting and maintaining a KZbin channel is really hard work especially when you have a full time job and other projects that you're working on on hand. This channel was made with the intention of educating the community, who we'd also like to have open conversations and discussions with. Further, this video was made to compare between the film and the digital simulations, not to showcase our photography or a certain technique. In any case, I hope you take this into consideration and provide us with more constructive criticism in future, thanks.
