I recently went to a place to smelt some gold; 235 grams of it. I noticed after gold was melted, not all of it was poured out into the bar that was later given to me. I left the place thinking about why they held some back. Later I called to find out why some of the gold was held back. I was told that it was the borax part. Doesn't borax disepate during the smelting process? I somehow feel I got scammed. Please help.

If you don't have a grinder use a chisel, once you get used to it it take less than a minute to do each end on a central air rad. But I find it to be a waste of time taking copper out of the rad and you end up making almost the same amount of money

I’m going to try 50/50 water and vinegar for my green corroded copper, I heard the solution is reusable too.

If you use borax and move the torch around it will melt faster and help with impurities. Also, gold scratches easily so you lost weight on that wheel. We all start somewhere and im by far no expert. I enjoyed your video. Just trying to help you out.

i haven't done this with copper, only aluminium, but having 2 or 3 burners on at the same time really makes a big difference

You might want to make a little cave with bricks to place your crucible in. That way, the reverberation of heat upon the burden will improve the efficiency of the process. BTW, is that an ashtray you are using as a crucible?

Is using a porcelain crucible a better option for using this method in which you melt the gold directly in the crucible? thank you

I'd use an angle grinder with a metal blade to cut the aluminum away from those copper tubes I think it would be much faster and more efficient

I tried this, and it didn't remove the "Copper". I think Silver is still the better option, as it can easily be reverted back to it's original state.

I melted copper and a little steel pan probably 3 in wide four inches long and an inch high with a propane torch it all depends on the torch head you got on it too rather it puts more heat or less heat

This reminds me of the time I got bored and had a "torch lighter" and a copper penny. Put the copper penny on a brick and hit it with the lighter not expecting it to melt, but it ended up melting. Probably wasn't the safest idea or thing to do, but hey, I found out it could melt it.

You are using the wrong torch head. You need a bernzomatic ts 4000 or ts8000
