For anyone else running into the issue where the mounted datastore is showing ~27GB instead of the expected TB available on your Synology, at 17:22 the backing path is entered as "/mny", thinking this should be "/mnt" but a comment by @exzibit999 mentioned this is not an error, thus continued. Using "/mny", the mounted DS showed the VM space each time.. I rolled back the VM to a pre-build snapshot and used "/mnt/synology" and bingo, when mounting the DS - shows the correct space for the NAS.

Thank you! So easy. I've been procrastinating this and this process made it a breeze. I did need to disable KVM Virtualization on the HA VM in order to get it to start but no big deal so far.

If I already have data on my NAS hard drives, is it still safe to Remove those drives (with data) and install the RAM? Or do I need to consider other things?

It's good to have this features but still very limited you cannot get RTSP no detection I doubt Ubiquiti will allow that in future release.

Hmm, I didn't know about that advance adoption. I had to put the camera in the same default lan for it to detect. but I rather not have it on the default lan. So am doing to try to put it on a different vlan and see if the advance adoption will work with different IP. Also, I can't get any detection from the camera through protect.
@Deraco1
@Deraco1 18 күн бұрын
You won't be able to get any detection across multiple subnets. This is a broadcast domain issue. Discovery uses the subnet broadcast IP to listen on for different devices that arrive on the network. Broadcast advertisements will not transport over different subnets. MAYBE if mDNS was implemented, but highly doubt it and would be a pain to setup (from what I know)

It's great to see UniFi finally do this. I've done some preliminary testing too, and really disappointing they don't support RTSP-only cameras. Kinda strange, since RTSP is actually running underneath the wrapper of every ONVIF camera! Whether UniFi will ever support additional ONVIF features is unknown. They have said this support is to help larger business/commercial customers move over to UniFi by allowing them to connect their existing ONVIF cameras to UniFi system. But UniFi still wants them to buy and use UniFi cameras in the long term. So it is a balancing act - the more support they add for ONVIF, the less customers will be compelled to buy UniFi cameras. Supposedly, they are working on a hardware plug-in processor that will allow them to support motion detection and other AI features for basic ONVIF cameras, that would be a great compromise. UniFi still needs to face the one big limitation of UniFi cameras - they missed the boat on the all the Starlight night vision sensors, All the UniFi cameras, regardless of the price, are terrible for use at night. Right now, ONVIF $50 cameras have them beat.

Couldn't agree more. But actually i doubt ubiquiti will ever make the onvif support deeper. But then again, a month ago, i would never believe they will do it in tve first place
@Deraco1
@Deraco1 18 күн бұрын
True. Would be interesting, however also is limited to what the specs the camera manufacture has into the ONVIF profiling, would imagine it would be quite a bit more than what Unifi has access to so far.

It’s been 8 months since this video was released. Has there been a FW update that enables the WAN port on the Express to act like a LAN port? This way, the Express can act as an access point and a network switch so a network device can get wired network connection when plugged into it. Moreover, if the Express gets its incoming connection via wireless mesh, up to 2 devices can plug into the 2 network ports on the Express.

Hear me out here: What if we run a Ubiquiti Gateway like UDM Pro as our first gateway, and use Geo Blocking with IPS/IDS turned OFF, and then run a 2nd UDM Pro with no Geoblocking but with IPS/IDS ON - that way, the geoblocking happens first, and then the 2nd Gateway is handling the IPS for traffic that does make it through? Yes it's double natting in a way, but not if we tell the first gateway to DMZ the 2nd gateway. - Maybe ill go ask reddit this question

Hi! Great video! I could use some help with a choice. I have an older ceiling fan with 4 speeds, but the speed regulator broke. I tried replacing it with a 3-speed Smart WiFi Fan Switch and Universal Remote Control Kit (compatible with Alexa and Google, app-controlled, no hub required). However, since it's 3-speed and my fan is 4-speed, the second speed is still too fast. I'm looking for something that can properly regulate the speed. My fan is AC with 2 wires (neutral and line). Thanks so much for any advice!

Nice video. I think though it leaves out one vital part for many/most people who are looking for information to restore an actual hardware computer, and that is the network-connectivity. Your guide assumes that the computer being restored to will have network connectivity to the Synology NAS where the ABB recovery images are stored. In my case it's a laptop relies on WiFi to connect to the NAS. There are no WiFi drivers in the default installation of the recovery tool. Only ethernet.
