Guaranteed "wall of sound" was not even plugged in. Groups always played thru house system, no time for sound checks etc. Roll em in, roll em out.😊

One of my favorite groups back in SF when I was in college. Saw them many times - this is a subdued performance ... The first metal band IMO.

Seeing this footage again and again, I can't stop thinking about those 4 girls... If any of them are still alive, how they look like in 2025 and how should they feel remembering this glorious dancing day in front of such a powerful band...

The Rock band UFO recorded another song by Eddie Cochran C'mon everybody and the style and rhythm of the song sounds very similar to this song by Blue Cheer.

I came home from high school one day. I was watching the Steve Allen show. Blue Cheer was performing. At the end, Steve was shaking his head saying something like "Ladies and Gentlemen, these boys are LOUD!"

For those who don't know, 'Summertime Blues' was written by Eddie Cochran and Jerry N. Capehart and was released in 1958 and sung by Eddie Cochran. The Who, performed the song in their early years of playing. And if you want to hear them play live, their album, 'Live at Leeds,' released in 1970, is their best performance of such a great song. The whole album is one of the best "live albums," ever. "Keep on Rockin' in The Free World..."

I was hoping to see a live performance. What? Blue Cheer LIVE on Bandstand are you crazy? Yeah I know, I was undone by my own optimism. Blue Cheer was the loudest band in the world back in the day and in fact their second album Outside/Inside was titled such because the recording studio kicked them out to the parking lot half way through the recording session. As a lad Blue Cheer was the first concert I ever attended and it was one of those nights you just never forget and thus began my love of Heavy Metal.

Not heavy metal, they were rockers. In no way were these cool guys in the same category as 'Ozzie Osborn' FFS! Had their first two albums, they took music in a different direction! Counter-culture at it's best.SF was where to look for the future of what would be cool!
