Can we export the lighting(or what) to get the same looks in game engine (as they were in the render)?
@PedroCasavecchia2 ай бұрын
Hey! Unfortunately no. That's not possible since Magicavoxel uses rendered lighting and game engines use real time lighting. So it wouldn't translate. You will have to learn how to create a similar effect in your render engine. Hope that helps you!

I am using an old Intel based laptop and renders are super slow. What are comfortable specs for rendering any scenes on Magicavoxel? I am looking to get a new PC but don't need super high end one, just want to render using this software with ease. Thanks.
@PedroCasavecchia3 ай бұрын
Nice! Magicavoxel is not really heavy on the requirements. But if you are after faster renders then make sure your graphics card is good. Honestly any graphics card on a modern computer will do, but the better the card, the faster the render in MV.

@focusmedia24653 ай бұрын
I have just started learning MagicaVoxel and have been following along with all of these tutorials. Everything is incredibly helpful, thank you so much! However, I don't know if it's because I'm on a Mac or if it's because this video is from 2 years ago and the program has changed, but I simply do not have the options that you have under Outline. In fact, it doesn't work the same way to hide and show things. For example, when I hide an object, it leaves an outline showing where it was, it doesn't become invisible. I'm not able to group things as you are explaining here. It feels like this is very crucial to the workflow but I'm unable to follow along. Do you happen to have any updated tutorials? Cheers!

How do you actually export the animation?
@PedroCasavecchia3 ай бұрын
You can't unfortunately. You can export each model separately though.

I've just finished the series and found it to be a total blast. Huuuuuge thank you. I've done some modeling with Rhino previously but this software is very charming and relaxing to build with. I'd love to see more series akin to converting models from other software, images to voxels etc. to speed up the design where elements from other software are already at hand.

@PedroCasavecchia5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately each frame is a different model. You would need to export each frame, torn on and off visibility if each frame and then export all that as an allergic file or an fbx. It's a workaround but that could be the best way

Would you recommend animating in magicavoxel vs blender? Would using blender be better? Would it be situational based on the model(s) or animation(s)? Working on teaching myself unreal 5 for gamedev, and learning how to make my own assets with magicavoxel and blender, so any tips would be incredible. Thanks a ton for this series, massive help.
@PedroCasavecchia6 ай бұрын
Hey. For gamedev proposes 100% of the times go blender. Animating in magicavoxel is cool but it's not something you can export to any kind of production. You will need to animate in blender which, unfortunately, is way more complicated than doing it in Magicavoxel. Feel free to join my discord server if you want. We have a community with many people using blender in there. discord.gg/4M4jMJBaRx

How important is lighting in magicavoxel, or the rendering ability of it in general, when it comes to exporting the project to use in another program, like blender or unreal? Slowly been trying to teach myself unreal 5 for game dev, as well as how to make my own assets with magica and blender, so just curious if those other programs remove the need to use the render part of magica. Fantastic tutorials as well. Massive help.
@PedroCasavecchia6 ай бұрын
Hey! I'm glad it's being useful to you! Thanks for watching. You can't really export the magicavoxel materials to other software. Only a texture color. So I would say not important at all. With this said, the concepts of materials in this tutorial still apply to other 3D software like blender.

Am I the only one who doesn't have those 6 options above attach? There is no "box mode" for me. I have the All, the Brush, and the gear, and then below that is attach, erase, and paint. I don't have the 6 icons that you have in-between them. Edit: I figured it out. Instead of 6 options I guess they changed it to 3 very thin lines in between. They're very hard to select but they seem to change the modes.

@PedroCasavecchia8 ай бұрын
Hey! Thank you so much for watching!. Yes. You can. Just create a material that is not "emissive" with the color you want as "off". Then create another one with emissive properties and the color you want as "on". Then just create a last keyframe with the off material and in the next frame change it for the color you want as on and create a new keyframe. Let me know if that makes sense. Good luck!

Thank you so much!! I am stuck with one thing though - I have a bee, body and moving wings are seperated but within 1 group. How can I make the whole bee (group) fly around in circles while the wings keep moving. Rotations etc seem to only work for the single parts within the group. Atm my only solution is to build again without creating a group. >w<
@PedroCasavecchia8 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks for watching the tutorial! What you probably will need to do is: -Create an animation for the wings. Then make sure the animation is looping. (07:28 - Looping.) -Create a new group containing the animated wings and the bee body. -Animate THAT new group and everything should move together with the wings moving. Let me know if that's what you needed. Cheers!
