Thank you for the video. I am not a skilled artist. But skilled designer very used to photoshop. Yes, these things are real issues, and some people are better at not paying attention to them. One of the things that bug me is that the same brush with chosen size drawers differently while zooming in and out.

I appreciate this, I have tried to tell myself Procreate is the ticket for years and while it’s ok, it’s just an odd program. Coming from photoshop as well I feel Procreate tries to be a simple interface but provides no tools at the ready and then buries you in options for brushes that make simple changes a long process. Your later quirky reason are valid too, the out of bounds forced crop is crap and the layer visibility in history is a head scratcher.

doing line art/ sketch using a mouse is doable, but it does take some time to get used to it. I draw in PS using mouse and i think its fine, nice video, it gave me another option on how to draw stuff

I think I got pissed at Photoshop when it did not include layer toggle in history, because I would accidentally hide layers and it wouldn't go back. I think I prefer that every action in procreate is recorded in the history. The eye dropper tool as well, I think you can shorten the time it invokes. But all you said I agree with. I use procreate because it was the easiest to learn of all the apps back when the first ipad pro came out.

The only thing I could think of that was forgotten about was Krita. People don't really talk about Krita anymore because I think they're mostly for Microsoft tablets, or other tablets similar to where there's no screen, where it's more or less for you to draw onto your computer like people used to do back when I was growing up. There is no app for Krita which sucks, but I think there should be more recognition for Ktria. To be fair, either Artstudio Pro or Ibis Paint Pro would be good choices, but i think if you don't have the money, and don't want to follow a yearly subscription, krita or Sketchbook. I personally like Krita more, but that's just imo, I never really got off Krita, and I've only touched Adobe Fresco once, I didn't like it, I remember not touching Ibis Pro all that much, I liked Medibang, but I didn't like it as much as Krita, but if I were to pick two of the best ones that you could literally get free resources, I would say either Sketchbook, or Krita would be my top picks.

I also forgot to mention another thing while researching other alternatives people can look for in terms of art: You can also try out Vectornator (Now called Lineary Curve, both are the same thing, they just changed the name.). i tried that for a bit, it's a cheaper version to Procreate, and it's essentially Procreate I think? Idk, I've only touched it for a little bit, and I haven't done much with it. Thinking of maybe touching it again though.

100% agreed, procreate's & ArtStudio stabilization DRIVES ME INSANE. I swear its like silly string, it feels so ridiculous. Overall i prefer Artstudio just because it is the closest to photoshop and has the easiest use similar to photoshop. Fresco drives me insane the way the UI/UX is setup. As a professional UI/UX designer for 13 years now, it infuriates me to no end, whoever designed that i want to be the one to FIRE THEM PLEASE, i spent more time fighting the app then actually painting i swear.

I'm in a situation where buying even the cheapest tablet could eat up most or even all of my wallet. As someone that wants to return to art, get better, switch to digital, and even make money from it, this helps. Drawing with a mouse is not that pleasant for me but this video helps ease it.

Ipad+procreate combo is great for beginner/advanced artists but I'm sure I will have to switch to Clip Studio eventually just because of the limitations you mentioned like the layers and the fact that the Procreate app does bug out sometimes and is really janky but I'm used to it by now. I would love to own a larger wacom tablet for my PC one day. Portability and the fact its so cheap is great. Screw running subscriptions. I will always support one time purchases.

Look, i have drawn using a mouse for a year when i first started my art journey, it can work, but Drawing tablets help you a lot, and there are a lot of cheap ones, i remember buying my first Wacom intous tablet 3 years ago it was something like 70 dollars, if you can afford that or even maybe saving up money for it, Please please do it!, you dont need professional tools at all, ALWAYS REMEMBER that you can always improve your skills even by just drawing on a sketch book with just a pencil, you can draw with a mouse, but please dont do it it will take you 3x the time it need to finish the drawing, please just save up even 5 dollars a week and get one.

I love Procreate. I do all my digital drawings with it. I also have a big tablet connected to my iMac and Photoshop, but PS is just so counter intuitive, while Procreate isn't. (my PS skill level isn't what I thought it was) And I get to work on my drawings just sitting on the couch as opposed to sitting rigid behind my desk. I've actually never drawn a complete piece in PS, which sucks. I want to, but I can't get myself off of Procreate ;-)

It kinda sucks to see how people really don't dig in to the apps full capabilities, like Fresco has vector and pixal, and honestly the animation feature is pretty good imo. I chose it over ibis paint and honestly have no regrets and still using the free version to this day. But you barley scratched the surface of the capability of all these apps which I don't blame for you since it's just for a video xd

Madibang paint actually can save using his own cloud, not only in ipad storage, you just need to move your drawing to the cloud section. I moved like this my old drawings in medibang paint from my old ipad to the new one, also you can open your saved in cloud drawings in any device, not only apple’s, cause the cloud is linked to your account in medibang
