Saw on another You-tube video: Take a 1-1/8" bimetal hole saw and place over swollen cap and drill it to cut the cap off to slide it off and expose the actual lug nut. . Then took a 3/4" socket to remove the lug nut. Bought a set of non-capped Lug-nuts (solid piece) for all wheel and replaced them all. The set for my son's 2017 Ford Escape was around $40 at AutoZone.. I already had the hole saw in my wood shop. Was way easier. Only had one lug nut messed up. Took a lug wrench to the other swollen lug nuts and instead of removing the nut completely and hammering out the stuck nut, i left it one with several threads and loose enough to hand turn. Just rocked the wrench to free the swollen nut from the wrench. No need to hammer out the nut from the socket.. This worked for me. My son said Ford wanted over $300 to fix the problem (one they created with poor design) and replace with same kind of factory lug nuts.

When you have to do again, put a tie down around your rear brake pedal…depressing it. Then change it out. You won’t have to bleed the brakes. At least I haven’t had to, last two times I did it.

Don’t have to remove the tire to plug it 😅and a 19 mm works
@cheapjoker33212 ай бұрын
Absolutely correct. You don't have to remove the wheel to plug it. Can't remember why I decided to take the wheel off, maybe I thought it would be easier to find. I believe I did try a 19mm socket, but was having a difficult time getting it over the lug nuts (decorative caps). Maybe mine were expanded too much where a 19mm wouldn't work. That is why I decided to use the 19.5. If you can get the 19mm to work then of course go with that. Thanks for the comment.

It was cranking fine until the other day while cutting I stopped to move something in the way . Good video brother, Question how did you know you need to change the mount, my 06 SG makes a clank when i go over bumps, so i can only think its the engine mount. thanks again for the very good explanation
@cheapjoker33215 ай бұрын
At the time it seemed to me that I was having excessive vibration and so I just checked it as a means to try to remedy it. As far as clank it possibly could be the engine Mount. I know a car is different but I had a vehicle where you would go over set railroad tracks you would have a clank and sure enough it was the engine Mount.

And you need to re-balance the wheel... Right?
@cheapjoker33216 ай бұрын
Good question. I didn’t think that there may be a significant weight difference between the two valves causing the wheel to become unbalanced. I would suppose if you could balance it before installing the wheel that would be a good idea.

@cheapjoker33219 ай бұрын
Depends. Doesn’t the lug nuts have the decorative style covers? Whether you have 5 or 4 the issue here was the decorative caps that made it extremely difficult to remove.

@@cheapjoker3321 not 100% sure. When they put the new tires on they used a hammer on one of the lug nut spike. I believe it's called locking wheel nuts. And on its first oil change, when they rotated the tires that's when they added 2 nuts. One on each of the back

I cut up some old Firemans hose for protection for the socket. I took a mini sledge hammer and eventually got the socket over the shredded chrome. Got the wheel off, but then my Jack failed and now my car is on the ground on that side probably cause I hit the socket so hard slightly rocking the car. (Cmax 2013) Lesson learned always put extra supports no matter what. Even for a quick job. I ordered the lowest profile jack. 2.75” height. just got a wait for it in the mail. Thanks for the video! 👍
