I've said this in comments for a different video, but... wasn't Caitlyn Stark born a Tully? So .. she's the descendant of Muppets?

As I often say, The Marvels was a dull, paint-by-numbers affair. Kamala Khan was the only interesting part of it, and she, and the actress, both hit it out of the park.

yes GRRM named that whole family tree after muppet characters afaik. There's at least an Elmo and Kermit Tully too in addition to Oscar and Grover.

I like that HOTD has lots of slow character scenes that aren't super plot heavy. I think it makes up for the short seasons. I think this show would suffer in the same way that the latest season of Doctor Who has suffered from such a low episode count.

I’m guessing that given it was unscripted, we’re not going to see much development of a romantic entanglement between Rhaenyra and Mysaria this season. Maybe it’ll get addressed next week, I’m hoping it does, even if it’s superficial - it feels very amateurish to include an unscripted idea like that in an episode and then not do *any* rewriting to address it later on. My hope is that they run with it and develop it more in the third season, since they’ll have more time to really consider where they can take it, and work it’s implications deeper into the structure of the season in ways that likely wouldn’t have been possible even if they did some rewriting to address it in the last couple episodes this time around. I also definitely agree about the obviousness of who would claim dragons - I think they probably could have stood to cut down a bit on Daemon’s scooby-doo escapades and flesh out one or two more potential dragonriders, since I think the claiming scene which I thought was otherwise very well done would’ve been made far more tense if we didn’t know without a doubt going in who’d be getting a dragon.

I think Jace's main issue is that Rheneyra is weakening his position to the throne further than it already has been, and she keeps referencing divine intervention as a blessing, which those dragon riders could also use to claim they were "chosen" by the gods. In order to win the war she's putting him in basically the same position she was put in that led to this whole conflict.

In the books there are also Kermit and Elmo Tully but they have been cut from the show because it would be too much Muppet referencing.

One small nitpick. They have Wesley Snipes says "there's only ever been one blade, and there's only ever going to be one blade." I think thats supposed to be them hyping us up for a future return, but also.... Sticky Fingas played Blade in the 2006 TV show. That's one other Blade.

Even if Marvel has to play with Timey-Wimey, multiverse crap to bring back Cassandra Nova, I think they should. The actress and the character are too good to throw away for a one-shot.

I enjoyed the film and I liked Cassandra as an antagonist. I was wondering how they were going to address Wolverine's death in Logan and I was glad they handled it in the most irreverent way possible. The Wolverine recruitment montage was fun but I have mixed feelings about the Cavill version of Wolverine as it felt to me a bit of low blow aimed as DC.

I really enjoyed it, didn't particularly strike me as too long but then I was enjoying thr action scenes. I was sooo happy when I saw Gambit show up. Was really invested in the film that fell into production hell so it was nice to finally see one of my favourite characters from x-men on screen again.

So idk if this is gonna sound weird and I've said this in other places (including the Council Of Geeks discord), but this movie felt like the Deadpool movie I not only enjoyed the most, but the first to actually be "about something". Which I know is weird to say about a Deadpool movie, but idk. The other two do have plots and such, but you could argue those two movies are mostly joke factories (jokes that have aged fairly badly in the case of 1 and somewhat badly in the case of 2). Whereas this movie seemingly being a love letter to the Fox era of Marvel movies (and also Blade who was under New Line Cinema) and like, a direct meta commentary on what's currently going on in the MCU felt like this movie had more to say than just throwing a ton of jokes at the wall to see what stuck. I would honestly put this movie above BOTH of the previous movies, and having rewatched 1 & 2 in the last 24hrs, I'd rank Deadpool 2 second and the original dead last cause it has the most humour that's aged poorly for me in hindsight. Whether it be cause the jokes are too "lol edgy" or just I feel they're trying way too hard so the jokes don't land. Also could be down to my sense of humour in my early 30s being different to my humour in my mid to late 20s when the first two originally came out.

Unpopular opinion: I got icked by pretty much everything with Dogpool. I didn't like the joke about Dogpool's body being filled with G-spots and I hate dogs/animals licking faces. It's a very personal ick and I'll cop to that, but on top of that even though it's cute, pretty much everything with Dogpool is every kid/dog in a mature/action film ever so it's also a little played out to me.

Also, Cowboy Pool was played by Mathew McConaughey, Lady Pool was Blake Lively, Baby Pool was Olin Reynolds (Son of Ryan and Blake), Nathan Fillion was the voice of Head Pool, Kidpool was Inez Reynolds (daughter of Ryan and Blake), Nice Pool was Gordon Reynolds (Ryan's fictional Twin Brother)....and Cavellrine was Henry Cavill....so yeah, there were many under the radar cameos of Ryan's family

Star wars, Lord of the Rings and Doctor Who, all take as a core premise that unchecked power corrupts in an inevitable way. Gandalf can't use to the ring to beat Sauron and then throw it away, the Doctor cannot decide who lives and who dies without becoming a monster and Count Dooku can't eliminate corruption as he sees fit, without supporting an authoritarian dictatorship. In some ways this limits the stories. Characters can transition from light to dark for noble, relatable reasons, or repent and go back the other way, but we can never explore a stable libertarian position inbetween, because that would undermine the core premise: You cannot use power according to your whims/emotions without becoming the very thing you wished to fight. One might think the premise is implausible - why would sweet Anakin become a monster just for wanting to save his unborn children? However the premise is proven true again and again in real life - whenever people acquire unchecked power, however noble their reasons for wanting it, in country after country, time after time they become the exact thing they were fighting. In our world it is usually democracy that checks political power. The nature of the force is different to political power, so the analogous restraining factor is indoctrination in the Jedi cult. That is why we are stuck so often with the dichotomy of Sith/Jedi - if you are not indoctrinated and have all this power, how do you stop yourself doing what feels right to you with your power? And if a core premise is that there is no stable position between that and the Sith, then Star Wars stories will end up dominated by those two positions - indoctrination or wanting to control everything to make everything right, as you see it. Hopefully there is a team of creative people at D+ looking for creative solutions to this. I would love a series with no light sabres, where these aspects of the force were explored.

The way they could've kept Vanessa in the film but still sideline her would've been to actually have her become Copycat and have her have her own adventures with consent and understanding as an open couple where she allows him to see other people and encourage his crush on Logan. I would've loved that. She can still be in danger of being wiped out by the timeline collapse but shell have her own thing going on that adds to why the relationship with Wade works.

I kinda guessed Johnny? When they showed Chris Evans my first reaction was 'who-hoo let's go!' immediately followed by 'now, are they bringing him as Cap or as Johnny?' and three seconds later I got my answer, and I swear, I jumped a little in my seat and squealed. This movie was so much fun, I just came home from the theater and am watching this review. I might edit this comment as I go, but for now I'm just riding the high.

I saw the Johnny Storm reveal cameo coming. I said "Flame on" before the character said it. We all knew Jennifer Garner was coming back but I genuinely fangasmed when Wesley Snipes walked in. Something I wish was in and I was surprised wasn't was a joke about Lady Deadpool. We all guessed she was played by Blake Lively, and she was, but there was no joke about it. Something like "I'm gonna hear about this tonight" after he shoots her, or "sorry honey" or something. It was funny that he cast his wife but didn't show her face. Seeing Gambit actually act like Gambit was fantastic, even with the bad accent (which was the joke). I agree about Cassandra. She is the first Marvel villain I've seen in a long time that actually felt like a genuine threat. It was great they worked in 2 Stan Lee cameos too. I will say, there was a point during the first scene in the TVA with Paradox that I thought of another plot they could have done. They were talking about pruning the timeline, and I thought it would have been a great excuse for a "Deadpool Kills the Fox Universe" movie. But, no, he saves the Fox universe. Something that I did love though, was the behind the scenes footage from the Fox movies that played during the credits. That was a wonderful tribute to the movies that existed before the MCU existed.

I really enjoyed it, and at 2 hours it's not that long, but there were some scenes that could have been shortened. I enjoyed the Deadpool Core fight sequence, but yeah they could've cut that and left it for the extended version because they all just pop back up after being killed, and then stop fighting when Peter shows up. So legit they could have just had Wolverine and DP stand up, Logan put on his mask, and they get ready to fight and then have Peter show up and Logan and Wade move on to stop Cassandra. That would have trimmed what 5 minutes? The car fight could have been cut in half. The initial fight between Wade and Logan also could have been cut by at least a couple minutes. The TVA fight opening sequence really could have been cut shorter. Even the attack on Cassandra's place had some repetitive and needless moments that could have been cut by 2-3 minutes easily. So that would have cut out 10-15 minutes? It'd have been fine for the overall movie to have made those cuts, and again show all of it in the extended cut. It was very enjoyable and well worth the time...even if some of the plot didn't make sense. I'd give it an 8.25 out of 10.
