I once installed a reman Honda caliper from Nappa. I always check the pin bore for old grease that might have gotten missed at the factory. Good thing I did, because I found a half of a red shop towel jammed behind a plug of old grease. The crazy thing is they stuck a shorter pin in to compensate for the towel and grease plug. Even if it's a fresh reman, always check the bore.

@AutomedicGarage I used to work on a fleet of F550s with some random F450s and F350s. I always was pulling the slider pins out and doing exactly what you did there. I did use a different caliper grease. Some high-falootin’, purple permatex grease. We changed brakes so often that O’Reilly’s ran out of pads. Ford has dibs on the pads before everyone else the O’Reilly’s rep told me. Should probably do a fluid flush video. Hell, maybe I will!

I had to do that on my son’s Grand Cherokee, the pins were really rusted in, I didn’t have an air chisel so it took me a while, great video Sir 👍😁

Good gawd, I can't believe anyone ignores sliders. Up here in the Rust Belt, we pull them and regrease them twice a year, on winter/summer tire change over.

tell ya what man its 10x easier to do a bracket service on the bench, 2-4 bolts and 5 seconds of your time. when the brackets get really built up with rust i use a needle scaler to break it all down and have a nice clean surface for the new hardware.

I'd probably rob one of the wire brushes from my gun cleaning kit instead of using a drill bit. That and some WD40 or some other rust solvent.
