Excellent. The "HOME" word art thing really looks out of place.

This must have been for pastor or something, given the presence of a chapel and what are probably supposed to be baptismal pools inside and out.

Amazing work! What is the exterior stonework material? Is it concrete?
@larryheiny5287Ай бұрын
Very nice. Take a look at the detail sheets for the house, almost always the appropriate chair construction drawings were included-they could be made from the same plywood as the kitchen and other cabinets. Minor things, usually the interior of the fireplace was the same material as the rest of the fireplace (no firebrick), same with the fireplace floor, the CMU was usually left natural, and the roofing was natural wood shingles, usually western cedar, so they turned light to dark brown over time. oh...and snow in San Jose CA would be really unusual! Like really unusual (the last time was in 1976 ;) ) Keep up the great work! Always enjoy your work, thank you.

Very perceptive, and factual I believe (though every one of Wright's norms was at one time or another contradicted. He was nothing if not restless !). I like the sound of footsteps at one point in the interior tour. Mr Avila is always finding new ways to enliven his models . . .

I like George Nakishima's furniture, but, in a Wright house the furniture should have been something he would have designed. And, the fire in the fireplace is likely to burn the house down way too big.

I agree the carport cantilever looks super expensive. It is also hard for me to understand how it could be relied on to not sag. Plenty of sagging occured at Fallingwater, so....... Is it gorgeous? Absolutely.😊
@stevemiller7949Ай бұрын
Is there an explanation why Wright would cantilever walkout spaces for some houses and use retaining walls for others? I am guessing cost was one factor. Of course W was brilliant, but it is still useful to debate his choices. W refused to be a slave to budget or practicality which in itself raises interesting questions.😊

Great video presentation. Loving the CGI walkthrough. I've been a big fan of Wright since I was kid and aspiring artist and still love his whole vibe. I gotta admit though I'm not fond of this design. It has all his aesthetic but missing some common functionality. I particularly dislike the position of the dining table pushed up against the fireplace with one chair right next to the fire and another partially blocking the kitchen entrance. IDK, just seems so off. Thanks for sharing.

Like many Wright houses it has a broad, overhanging flat roof with a raised central section. Now compare it to the hat Wright was always wearing. Coincidence? I think not.

Take a look at the Lovness and Peterson cottages for materials and colors. They both recently went thru a restoration too so the interiors are “brighter” than they were for a while…. They are both from roughly the same decade.

I love your video renderings of unbuilt Wright designs. One small detail to keep in mind: Wright specified Cherokee Red formica countertops in the kitchens/work spaces of these later houses. It's the same red as the floors.

Fabulous, you were able to show both versions! That makes it easier to see the differences of plan & how it changes the interior & the feeling of the spaces especially since you are able to show same furnishings in rooms, even donuts waiting on the table for us to eat! I love elements of both...so would do a 3rd version which Wright basically did for clients by adding both together for what was liked in both versions by client & then the final plan done with client picking exactly how they wanted it making it much more difficult NOT to build it. So even myself, love the entry planter in floor, gives a wider "more interactive" entry feel,and an item to be changed and enjoyed thru seasonal changes to keep home feeling more fresh. Wider dining with medium sized table & buffet along entire wall & larger doors. Love the 2 bedroom version with bath between & like the curved living room with opposing roof shape, out of ordinary for Wright as most of his curved living rooms reflect a curved roofline with massive tall copper ornamental fascia....here its understated as fascia and i feel more elegant and more successful in its streamlined simplicity. Job well done as always. The difference in tapered cmu blocks is also interesting but I'm always drawn to stone walls. The hallway storage, linen & clothing cabinets however could be done with only the end one outside M.Bedrm as full height, and lower others to top at 5'0" ht with row of horizontal clerestory windows above storage units & perforated plywd veneer panels as rest of homes design. Maybe the middle one only as clear glass.

If you show an unbuilt Frank Lloyd Wright designed home from 1958 why do you have a brand new 2024 Porsche car parked in front of the house It totally screws up the dynamics of the house you should pick a luxury car from 1958 You lose all credibility by doing this It shows your disdain for history
@kevindreese51735 ай бұрын
It is a modern Porsche but in all fairness it’s a 1980’s vintage not a “brand new 2024”. Also seeing the thumbnail with the Porsche brought me in to watch it. I thought it was a renovated FLW house that someone bought.
@dominique62dw5 ай бұрын
As an Architect of over 25 yrs practice, an Historical Preservationist & a published Frank Lloyd Wright specialist on his body of work known & unknown, I can tell you that maybe you are a bit too idealistic in your thoughts. Another way of looking at it is thus: A nice 80s Porsche in great condition sitting outside a 1958 FLLW in flawless condition showing not only how it wears over time, but is resilient to current modern living without any changes whatsoever to the floorplan, or furnishing arrangement also showing the same repose feeling of being in the current setting as it would feel being in it in 1958. NOW THAT IS SOMETHING TO MARVEL AT AS IMPRESSIVE, AND NOT SOMETHING MANY OTHERS COULD SAY FOR ARCHITECT DESIGNED HOMES FROM 1958 WHICH SADLY HAVE ELEMENTS THAT "DATE THEM" TO 1950's vs. LOOKING STILL FRESH as a design & looking newly built robust now & breathtaking yet even more so of a "WOW" factor for 1958!
@dominique62dw5 ай бұрын
To be honest the home would appear completely new and modern with an old vintage 58 car in great shape.....and not give the effect you are trying to achieve.....only if the video was in black and white vs. Color & even then I don't think the level of home design would appear as if done in '58. It's a timeless design with no elements visible that "date" it. If it had anything other than geometric shapes which are dateless, then it would as you suggest look like an old 58 home which people would ask why hasn't the home been changed in any way by the several home owners who had it....
@docderwood5 ай бұрын
@@kevindreese5173 That's not a 2024 Porsche. It's roughly an 85 to 87 Porsche. 911's haven't changed it's iconic design since about 1964 so it's not too far off.

The house is oriented backwards. This shows the private side of the house, with it glazed doors and generous fenestration, on the public or street side, and the privacy screening with its blank wall i on the private or rear side of the house. Privacy achieved by this orientation is an important feature Wright's houses.
