Any one know of a different provider of highlift kits? The DDM garage kits are probably 75% above the cost of buying the couple of peices you need and making your own. So I figured there was someone else with 30% better pricing out there.

I am currently going through the process of registering my newly imported s14, and it is EPA exempt, but they are telling me i have to pass emissions in front of the state(because its a "Colorado" law). Did you run into any problem like this?

Can you import used RHD Kei-trucks to USA? Which estates allow them?

Yes. They’re allowed to be imported under federal law. Some states have banned or restricted their road use for obtuse reasons but that depends entirely on the individual state. That said, there are ways around most things. Just don’t break any laws.

Nothing crazy yet. I’ve been flying a lot so most of my surplus cash and time has been going toward that instead of car parts. Once I’m done paying for checkrides I should finally be able to get the Supra buttoned up and start modding the GTR more too. 🤞

PRP is a good resource for aftermarket parts. For OEM stuff, yahoo auctions and TKGT are typically my go-to spots depending on what the part is. I’ve also had good experiences with Nengun, RHDJapan, and even my local Nissan dealer. Most of the fasteners and things are used across models, you just need the P/N.

You are not correct about the VIN. You made one critical error. I’ll explain. You assumed since it already has an ID number BCNR33- that it had a “VIN”. That is incorrect. VIN is more like a “standard” for lack of a better/simpler term. It is a formatted numbering system. Your Skyline was never intended for the USDM so it has a CHASSIS NUMBER. The trooper certified that the number you were using is correct and viable (no typos or signs of alteration). And that DMV employee should be fired. She straight up lied. She made stuff up, and lied. Shameful.

Good Content. Just a comment /hack on the parking space requirement to register the car in another person's name. When you apply for the parking permit for another car, just tell the police station parking inspection that you sold the other car that was registered to that space. My friend had 7 cars registered to one space. And you can then rent a parking space for all your cars after you register the next one, and the next one. The first space has to be within 2 KM of your registered home address. Pretty funny that the police handle the parking space permits. Police are generally quite kind in Japan and there is no stigma attached to going to the police station. Heck, even people that sell "used cars" as a business have to register their business at the police station. They just earn "revenue" in different methods here.

Not sure if you're still paying attention to the comments, but I need some advice. I followed this series as it's the only one I saw which I fully understood, and purchased my car from auction. Just titled it today, and it seems I'm having some trouble with the auto equity loan side of things. USAA does not offer any, and Navy fed's rates for 37 months + is basically the same if not more than my personal loan.

At the time I made this video, auto equity loans were still a viable option. I know a lot of lenders have tapered those considerably due to the number of repossessions rising and interest rates climbing. There are still some local credit unions will still do them but even those are getting difficult to find. If you have the ability, it might be worth doing a 401k loan. I’ll preface this by saying that the terms for a 401k loan will vary wildly depending the type of account, the holding company, amount, and some other factors. However, a lot of times those can be repaid within 5 years without penalty and any interest goes back to you (into your 401k specifically). There are also some life insurance policies that offer a similar option but that would be a question for your financial advisor.

You need the DTI gauge to be perpendicular to the lifter for an accurate reading, the measurements will be off when its set to an angle on the lifter like it was.

I simple cut the 90° track curve about 6” above where it joins to the track next to the wall. I then installed 16” of straight track that I cut off the end of the horizontal track like you did. I supported the track higher on the wall above the cable drums. Next I took my opener, a 8 tooth chain sprocket one. Installed it on the right side of door below the Jack shaft, then using a 26 tooth #41 sprocket on the shaft, I connected it to the motor with a motorcycle chain. After adjusting up and down stops, and the force settings, the door works perfect. Total cost $30

Between work, flying, studying and general life stuff there hasn’t been much in the way of free time or cash flow for car stuff. The only car activity I’ve done lately has been filming for 1320 periodically.
