I remember when I was a kid in the late 70s, we got caught in a storm in Avondale or Litchfield Park...back when that was all farmland...and it was furiously raining mud. The windshield wipers would just smear it on the glass.

my wife drove through the worst of this storm on her way to work in her Jetta, I was about 10 minutes behind her in our excursion to bear witness to the destruction. From our perspective we really got hit out of nowhere and really didn't expect the storm to be so bad. On the Eastside it went from calm and sunny to really freaking windy to massive downpour in about 15 minutes

Mike @ 5:10 "...well, I got on top of the truck..." Me: "I got in the truck" or "I got under the truck". You sir, are a braver person than this little black duck. Clearly, though, knowing what you're doing counts for a hell of a lot and the results always prove that beyond doubt. Nice work as usual. Look forward to the time-lapses.

Many years ago, I noticed a bright orange dot in the distance as the sun was setting, in Arizona. We set-up camp, started dinner, and that dot was getting closer. Everyone oblivious to it. Then it hit. And the sand was blinding. Absolute darkness. We ended tossing gear in the truck. And we were staying the night in a bedbug infested motel for a whopping twenty dollars. The horror was just beginning.

I live in Biltmore (which is on the left of the shot). We didn’t get a drop and it was sunny as could be but it was madness just a few minutes away in Scottsdale (right side of the shot). It side swiped us for over an hour.

I was in Ahwatukee that day (south of south mountain). These storms just popped out of nowhere and did some horizontal rain on us. The people survived (but a lot of trees didn't).
