I always am pleased when I see a lens work on the older cameras. My husband gave me a Fujifilm point and shoot camera for Christmas in 2013, and the lens got stuck after 4 years, it wasn't even 5 years old The pictures were at times were blurry. It sort of turned me off Fujifilm cameras. That was when I went out and bought the Canon ELPH 190 IS and that camera takes excellent pictures and has never let me down. I always look after my cameras so they are never just thrown around in a bag..

Nice! Those Samsung cameras with the Schneider lenses are very underrated. Especially the models like that 350 that goes down to f/2.4 They are similar to the Panasonics with the Leica lenses, just great image quality, much better than the more popular Powershot and CoolPix cameras IMO. Sucks about that ZS19 screen issue, I have the ZS15 and really like it. Some good cameras in this haul!

I had the solenoid issue with my Pentax K-S1. I tried all the same methods to try and release it without sucess. Apparently the reason this happens is if the camera isnt used for a long time. I did strip the entire camera ( not for the feint of heart ) and removed the faulty solinoid. I filed it down, put it back together and its worked perfectly ever since 😊 Oddly since I put such a lot of my heart & soul repairing it I'm reluctant to ever get rid of it even though I rarely ever use it.😋

The solenoid sanding method works, some people don't recommend it, because the solenoid tips can get rusty but if you keep the camera in a dry storage and keeping out of moisture, it should be fine. I fixed my K-500 that way about 6 months ago, and still going great.

Love it! Something new in every video. Question: where do you get your batteries? I was surprised to see quite high prices on some older third party types while you cann't be sure of the actual manufacturing date...
@pricklypearcamera
@pricklypearcamera 3 ай бұрын
I have used almost every third party brand at this point. Kastar is one of the biggest, I use them occasionally, have found quality control to be iffy at times, but in some cases they are literally the only option... PowerExtra I have found to be one of the best, but you're right-no manufacturing dates. So especially for more uncommon batteries, I know that some I've bought were likely produced years earlier. And then there are more premium battery brands that mainly make current offerings by major manufacturers. Those I am not as familiar with as I don't generally deal in newer/over $1k cams.

Hi, well I would say about half of the auction items I buy are region specific local pickup only. As for the other half, there are estate sale auctions that often have camera equipment, eBay (of course), Charity shop Auctions, Government liquidation auctions (there are a number of those here in the US where surplus product is sold).
@Bueolmutz
@Bueolmutz 3 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for the answer. I guess being such a small country is the main reason we don't have mutch in the way of estate sale and bulk auctions on used stuff. I have been fortunate to find some used cameras from thrift shops, about ½ og those in working order. That's actually where I started out the hobby with a collection of Takumar glass. However. Only something similar to Craigslist (I believe that's what it's called over there) is the only alternative to ebay if I want to shop somewhere locally. I will keep looking though, the hunt is highly addictive as I am sure you agree 😂 Hopefully I can also turn a bit of profit as I mature in the knowledge. Keep it up. Regarding the pentax K50: wouldn't the lens be of "no value" because of the solenoid problem rather than the body because that's where that thing is? When it comes to solenoids, I'm reminded of the Sony Infrared magnet hack- see if you can work it by poking the lens around with a stacked magnet...

I used to do primarily auctions on eBay as a way of selling up until about 4 or 5 years ago when I went exclusively buy now- which requires payment prior to confirming purchase. So that's really helped out. Honestly, what you ask is why I stopped running auctions in the first place-so many non paying bidders! Too add- In your selling preferences once you've sold 20 or 30 things I think there is an option to block bidders with less than 5 or 10 feedback? That might help with the issue.
