Seriously you don't get basic math. In 1700, the world economy was smaller than in 1950. So the world became richer while India stayed the same making its share smaller.

India will never rise to global parity nor dominance. India's democracy is plagued with racism and secularism along religious lines. The caste system is and will remain their way of life where half or more of the population are resigned to a life of living as near outcast and dunces/illiterates. Women in India aren't afforded the same opportunities to excel as men, based on these realities India will never rise to the level of China.

Native Brits should not be in the least sorry or ashamed. I'll pay you just as soon as the Barbary slave traders return reparations for my ancestors who were taken from their homes and placed in bondage never to return. Or until I receive money from the Nordic nations for raping and pillaging my beloved ancestors and wrecking destruction without mercy. Or until the Italians and all descendants of the Roman Empire, pay me personally for the impoverishment and enslavement of my people. Or maybe until the Norman French offer me reparations personally for taxing my ancestors into poverty and treating their Anglo-Saxon language as inferior, causing a widespread loss of tradition and culture. Name me a society that hasn't been abused or committed abuse in like manner? This reparations argument is a nonsense tactic to gain some sort of cheap and unearned moral superiority.

You've confused the East India Company with the British government. By saying the Indians would have made their own railways without the British, means that you're rewriting history to make a point that doesn't and cannot ever exist in reality. The Bengali famine, which you skirt around, has been widely accepted to be the result of environmental conditions. You make no points referring to the brutal cast system, which continually perpetuates affect poverty. You make no reference to the widow burnings that were stopped by the British. You make no reference to the bloody massacres that occurred after the British Raj left. This was a very selective and biased video

The British like the Americans suffer from a superiority complex. And they genuinely believe they are inherently honourable, noble and more moral than other countries. Its why they both have to whitewash their histories, and indoctrinate their people to believe they were somehow helping all the countries they invaded. Even to this day many Americans and British will happily defend their recent invasions and occupations of Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. And will happily lie that they are helping these people. All while whining non stop about Russia/Ukraine. The irony going right over their heads.

Why would you start the video with such a manipulative take, between 1700 and 1947 industrial revolution happened, USA raise into great power and other things that indicates India share would definitely fall. Just see China share and noone conquered it. Just another college student with stupid takes and few Wikipedia articles read

I think like any KZbin history channel, this video can be a great starting point in studying more about Indian history. Everyone has their own bias. That being said, OddCompass is actually quoting real people. Unlike a lot of these commenters, he does his research before he says something. Enough of this "blame the people who were colonized" mentality.

Since the time of the Buddha’s teachings, Indian were very advanced and well respected in those day. Many Asian nations welcomed them. They were a source of knowledge. However, they tended to be keeping among themselves and were not Buddhists. That’s how Islamic teachings were spread throughout Asia. Eventually, they weren’t welcomed anymore.
