Awesome piece. Do you ever make those antique style free standing butcher blocks that are about 12-18 inches thick with legs?

Is that the latest version of Bosch 12 inches miter saw? It seems to me that they made it a lot lighter and slimmer? Tell me please? If so, I liked the more robust old one 😢

I do these patterns but with the side grain showing. I have a lot of difficulty because i had to teach myself how to do it. I have trouble dressing the sides of my pieces and making sure everything is flat because i am working with end grain. I made a parquet door panel like that back in may. I created the block with the pattern and then cut off thin strips on a resaw bandsaw. I’ve only been woodworking for 8 months

I made end grain cutting boards for a living for a few years from 2015 - 2018, so I understand the struggle. My biggest piece was an end grain Island counter top about 3ft x 7ft x 2.5”. This vid brought back several memories. Nice work.

Ryan , Years ago I had a mental breakdown due to work stress and home life . I was off work for 27 days and it would have longer but the corporation I worked for had a 30 day limit that would have caused me to get a physical and I didn't want to chance flunking their physical . I went to a shrink daily for two weeks and then twice a week . Greatest thing I ever did and I recommend everyone that's able to see a shrink at least once if not more in their life . When I returned to work I was surprised to find my position was manned by three employees and I was placed in a better job with a lot less stress . Our shop was manned by 20 men and I talked to each of them about getting help as our jobs were very stressful due to job load and management . Our insurance was very good and company policy insured we were able to take off during work to see a shrink and still get paid . Six of the guys went to see the same shrink and get the help we all needed . I continued to see the shrink for about a year until I got out of that shop and into a better position within the corporation . Our shop foreman and shop superintendent really didn't like the fact that I talked my fellow shop workers into going to the shrink as it slowed down productivity . I told them I didn't appreciate them waiting until I had my breakdown for them to see the pressure they had put on me . I also told them I could report them to our union about their harassment and threats of retributions to each of us . They were mad at me and I dared them to call my bluff as I knew our union wouldn't take the situation lightly and subject them and the corporation open for a lawsuit . They backed off , but they didn't forget and I was treading on thin water until I got out of there . I told all of the other men about what had happened and they were very upset . We had a work slow down and the foreman and superintendent really got mad but couldn't do a thing about it as there were times our work just naturally slowed down to normal circumstances on the kind of work we were doing . After a couple of weeks I told the men we got their attention and we could go back to our regular work pattern . I was the senior man in the shop and these guys had been lied to and told a bunch of B.S. about their jobs when they got enough seniority and move out in the field to work . I didn't stay there too much longer and moved to greener pastures . When I move on the foreman tried to get me disqualified in my new position getting the attention of several of our high up management bosses . During this time I happened to see one really big boss and he informed me that he had hears about what was going on and told me that he would go see the foreman and superintendent . My problem was handled and I personally visited them a couple of weeks later and told them they could pound sand and if I had any more problems with them I knew with whom I was going to talk to . One time a little later I needed to use the shop machinery and was told I wasn't welcome , I left and reported back to my boss and a phone call took care of that situation . All these problems were caused by my mental break down that shouldn't have happened to begin with . Again , everyone needs to see a shrink at least once in their lifetime . BTW ; Awesome video .

Nice build! Some thoughts: 1. I almost smacked myself in the forehead when someone pointed out that you can use a sander or power plane in a router sled. (...or even a circular saw with a demo blade if you are rough-flattening questionable found lumber.) 2. With how robust your router sled frame is, you can weigh the tool down quite a bit to help keep the sled from climbing if it hits a knot/etc. 3. The semi-circular marks on the work means that the sled--and, therefore, the router--isn't perfectly perpendicular to the bed. That imprecision causes unnecessary post-processing. I suggest adding some sort of mechanism to add height micro-adjustment to the sled to counter this. 4. There is nothing saying you can't make a second frame that clamps to a thick workpiece standing on end to allow you to use your sled on the edge. 5. Another craftsman pointed out that the higher the sandpaper grit you go to, the more likely you are to have small enough pieces to make their way into the very pores of the wood. (This was something that I had never considered before.) Using a scraper above 220 grit _should_ drastically minimize this tendency, even on end grain. (You could make a jig to hold one in the sled, or use a power plane.) 6. ($4400-$2000)/120 hours = $20.00/h. ...for craftsman-level work. Oof. Can we get an 'F' in chat for our brother's fallen wallet, yall? (It's all good, son; you realized you made a mistake and I'm sure you won't make it again.) Cheers!

I had a similar problem squaring the end of a large slab with limited tools. Although, mine was a workbench top made of pine, not $2000 worth of walnut. I clamped 2 boards on the end, 1 on the face of the bench and 1 on the bottom, protruding about 1/4" from the end of the bench, taking extra care to make sure they were perfectly square an parallel. From there I stood the bench up, put an oversized base on my router and used those boards as a mini flattening sled. It was cumbersome to set up perfectly but made a clean, square end and worked very well. The board you made is absolutely beautiful, nicely done.

I don't think walnut was a good choice for wood, it is too soft and has a strong smell. It should have been made of hard maple 🍁.

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Yeshua ישוע (Jesus) and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the YHVH יהוה (LORD) shall be saved.” Romans 10:8-13
