Let’s be honest about the real reason people hated this game. It’s not that Joel was killed. It’s that he was killed by someone they consider a joke. When you have a loved protagonist, he can only be killed by an antagonist that is equally respected. Instead, they decided to give us a teenage girl, an unrealistic one at that, to shove an agenda in our face (girls are as physically capable as men). At its core, it links to this modern belief that feminism has no value unless a female adopts and surpasses the traits that women think men find cool in other men. And so you get one female character after another that physically dominates men, and is an ass to everyone around them and only care about themselves. This has become what empowerment is.

This game recapitulated nearly everything I loved from the snes and n64 era games. It had star fox, Mario cart, that cool game where you ride jet skis I never owned, a great card game, an early Warcraft 3 mod style battler at ft condor, a bad punch out, the programmable robots. You can always not play a game you don’t like! And shit minigames are core to ff dna. Remember dodging lightning or racing chocobos against birds that dive bomb you? I do find myself wishing for a neighborhood ace who I could pay 20 bucks to beat the last boxing game that I can’t do. The chicken game annoyed me until the joke. After the joke I loved it. 😂 I thought I had to drag it back to town. 😅

Absolutely love this game. Just started a new playthrough and having a ton of fun with it... again. Easily my favorite modern open world game. Side note: AI team mates are pretty bad and annoying. Going solo is way more fun in single player imho.

I'm glad they went overboard with the minigames because I grew to love them in the original, a bit like Stockholm syndrome or something. And I really want the open world to be bloated with too much stuff to grind for because I want to take in the scenery of one of my favorite fantasy worlds, and the payoff for getting the super secret weapons/materia/bosses is rewarding to me. Some of the open world music is a bit bleh though TBH, but I like to have a game to grind on as I listen to podcasts anyways.

I agree with you about listing which ones one has played, but it kind of shows that a person has extensive experience with franchise, and so it helps the person when backing why they like or dislike a certain entry. So I'll just say I played enough of them to know what I like or not. XVI was everything I always wanted in FF to make me really care about the battles themselves. XII aside, of all the ones I played the only thing good about the combat was watching the cool animations of magic and summons. I cannot fathom the level of brainrot you need to have in order to think that this game, with these epic eikon battles, would've just been better with a turn-based combat system.

An understated reason for the excess of Starfield hate was just the fact that it was a space game. As a long time space game enjoyer, a huge chunk of my fellow space game enjoyers will buy each and every space game they can get their paws on with this idealized fantasy of THEIR perfect space game in their head, and when the space game they bought doesn't meet those ridiculous expectations, they throw tantrums that can last years or even decades, like a self sustained fusion reaction of fauxtrage. For example, I play Elite Dangerous, well, Frontier over the last year has somewhat recommitted to the game after spending way too long on the failure that was Odyssey, and they've just released a new update that overhauls a bunch of stuff in the main game to enhance and make them more approachable to get players engaged with lesser played mechanics. Despite being a huge positive change that has brought tons of new players in and older players back to at least try the game out again, the comment sections and forums discussing it are FILLED TO THE BRIM with people who haven't played in years. Some of these guys are still upset that because like all games started on Kickstarter, it had to be scaled back in scope or become a Star Citizen, and every single one of them are complaining that the new changes weren't enough to bring them or the game back and demanding changes and features the devs have LONG since said just aren't possible without starting over from scratch on a new engine, despite not having touched the game since launch in some cases. These are the same kind of people who will buy a Bethesda game, and then spend the next ten years complaining that it was a Bethesda game. Starfield had to deal with so much fauxtrage from multiple fronts. Was it perfect? No, but far too many people walked in with idyllic expectations the game could never hope to meet and had their expectations dashed, or they walked in expecting another "Bethesda Trash Fire" and spent their time looking for everything they hated about Bethesda games and found it because it's a Bethesda game and was always going to be a Bethesda game with the same Bethesda game problems that some find charming and make others rip their hair out.

I got it on pc game pass. Maybe im in the minority. Really quite enjoying it. Admittedly, it seems like it is 10 years old at times, it needed a new engine. The faces look weird and its janky, it looks nice at night time but quite poor at daytime, some of the interiors look great, though.. There's fun to be had if u like fallout style games and appreciate it for what it is. I got 3 months free game pass and am playing it for free though. My 4070 laptop runsit at over 100fps most of the time . Im just not bothering exploring randonly and sticking to quests, I'm only lvl 8 so far.

Otherworld wasn't a sequel. It was a spinoff game based on a good mouse mechanic. Kind of like the Old Ones Army just more complex. Then they had elements from Terraria added into it. But it was a completely different style of game As I'm typing this in remembering that this video is 4+ years old and no one is going to probably see this

Appreciate your opinion, goes to show how different people can experience a movie. Personally, I don’t care for storytelling or acting when I watch Star Wars, it’s a pulp space opera. Having said that, I love the OT but TLJ is just so esthetically dissatisfying to me. Some of the moments are plain ugly. Canto Bight, my gawd. Even if the movie has a great story, the least thing they could do is maintain the elegance of the originals. That has always been my critique of Johnson. With all his movies, I miss style… To each his own I guess. Big up my dude 👍🏼

Funny because in my opinion The Last Jedi is the best looking Star Wars movie of the sequel trilogy. Crait has amazing textures and colors, especially the ruby cave. Ahchto has many amazing settings, like the Jedi temple with the thin light in the middle of the tree, or the psychedelic scene in the cave with all the Rey’s. And even Canto Bight, we can’t deny the place is stylized, with many creative alien creatures, and a fancy taste in the architecture that showcases the greed of the Canto Bightans. And let’s not forget the Throne Room which is very sinister looking, or the Holdo maneuver which looks incredible.
@KenshoBeats
@KenshoBeats 11 күн бұрын
@ I’m sorry Peter, except for the Krayt planet, everything looks just not star wars to me. You mention the creatures in Canto Bight, imo those were really badly designed. Very clean, much unlike the worn star wars vibe I was used to in the OT. I don’t know, maybe people who grew up with star wars have different expectations. Not sure how old you are?
@Bonjourpeter23
@Bonjourpeter23 10 күн бұрын
@ I am thirty years old, I grew up with Star Wars. And even I was amazed by the creatures in the movie. The aliens on Canto Bight are very weird, it’s the same kind of weirdness we always had in Star Wars, with a lot of different outfit and crazy fashions. In the complete director’s cut scene we even see musicians who play music with their own trunk. It’s the same type of aliens we always had in Star Wars, with weird organic shapes. Yes, they are ugly, but this is the point. Star Wars was never clean, it was always very real in its designs and settings. And Canto Bight is the most realistic place we got in the whole sequel trilogy, as we see how people live there, and there is a personality to the architecture and the creatures’s fashion clothes, giving to this location a disenchanted shiny outfit, supporting the strong theme that not everything that glitters is gold.
@KenshoBeats
@KenshoBeats 10 күн бұрын
@ I see your point, you grew up with a different star wars. I was 9 when I saw Empire and it had a long lasting effect on me. When I saw TLJ I left the theatre in half an hour. I remember I was really pissed. In my opinion star wars had sold out. All the things you said may be so in your experience but its just very removed from the way I feel about star wars. I did feel that vibe again with Rogue One and Andor though, which I really love. Even felt it with Mando season 1 and 2. But TLJ imo is not only bad taste in aesthetics but the humor too. Then again, chances are I felt the same as you when growing up 25 yrs earlier. We both have a different conception of star wars.
@Bonjourpeter23
@Bonjourpeter23 10 күн бұрын
@ I grew up with the original trilogy too. And then after seeing the prequels I had the same frustration that you have with TLJ, because the style was very different from the original trilogy (everything in CGI and green screen, Jar Jar Binks for little children, a 60s dinner, cringe romance… But in the end I accepted it as another part of Star Wars. It was the same with TLJ. Star Wars isn’t one aesthetic, it’s a mix between a lot of different style, and TLJ is no exception of that. The only thing that is not Star Wars is to redo exactly the same thing, which was not the case until episode 9, this is why this is the only Star Wars I didn’t like.

The menus and loading screens wore me down, but Starfield was ruined for me when I found that intergenerational ship that had come straight from Earth and yet had the same computers and tech as everywhere else and...yeah, they're not really trying. The buggiest thing about the Starfield is "over expectation" which we all did to it. Including me. I bought a new system just to prepare for this game before the release. As you know, a Bethesda game with not open-world but open-universe. It's the expectation, not the hype. So the game released, and we played it and complained about so many things while ignoring the best things about this game, and then uninstalled it. After a year, I gave it a second chance and played it the way I play fallout 4 and Skyrim. With the help of some QoL mods, this game is simply become masterpiece for me when I actually played it. Not to see and compare what Bethesda made for us, but to play it. Go start the UC vanguard quest, join the crimson fleet, install a mod where your ship actually need He3 gas to travel and when you run out of it you have to find it on the nearest system you can reach with the available fuel (Personal preference). You are not going to stop playing it then. Your feedback about this game will definitely change.

I hope to one day complete this game…I quit after the Titan battle. It was one of the most anticipated games for me that year. Despite all it did well, the part you deflected, rpg elements, was what did it for me. I love the stats and customization of weapons and armor (etc). The lack of this and the introduction of over flashy set pieces were not a big help imo. I love over the top set pieces btw (God of War, Bayonetta, etc) but yeah it lacked that good rpg mechanics substance for me.
