This is a gorgeous painting; it would look amazing as a slow-stitched wall-hanging quilt. Now that the seed has been planted in my mind, I shall have to give it a go. Thank you for being my inspirational muse, Joanne.

This is a beautiful piece, great color palette. Since the gouache you used was acryl, how did you clean that ceramic top that went to where yo had the paint in little wells? Thankds
@JoanneGrant_Art3 күн бұрын
Hey there! Yes I used acryla gouache on that palette. I peeled the paint off it when it dried. So easy and mess free. That little palette is my new favorite! 🎨

You use the term "quash" (sp), what does that paint term mean? Love,love love these flowers!
@JoanneGrant_Art4 күн бұрын
Hey there! I am so happy you enjoyed the flowers. 🌸 Gouache (goo-ahsh) is a type of paint similar to watercolor but with more opacity. I use it like watercolor by adding more water to it, like in this video, but I also use it like acrylic. It's a fun medium! 😀

Hi Joane, beautiful work, I am looking forward to more tutorials. Since it is difficult to determine which exact colors you used from the Kuretake Gansai Art Nouveau set, would it be possible to list the colors you used either in the video or in the description, it would be very helpful! thanks!

I didn’t realize that gouache was so rich in color. I guess I was thinking it was more along the lines of traditional water color ….this is such a beautiful piece! I love the way you create art, Joanne!! ❤
@JoanneGrant_Art5 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words! 💖 I'm so glad you like the piece! Gouache definitely has a richer, more opaque finish compared to watercolor, which is part of what makes it so fun to work with. It's great to hear that you enjoyed the effect! Thanks again for your support and for taking the time to comment! 😊

I guess I would have wanted to apply a heat-fusible to the back or a gesso . . . ? If you were doing extensive embroidery to the paper, would you put a fusible backing on first?
@JoanneGrant_Art9 күн бұрын
Great question! I used a 140lb paper, so there was weight to it and the paper was not at all at risk of tearing. So I don't think that a backing or gesso is necessary if using at least 140lb paper. 😀

I love it. I keep getting stuck before I even begin anything lately. I have the desire I just get so wrapped up in overthinking and perfectionism and it holds be back so much. I am very inexperienced and so critical to myself and I want to break free from that. This might help me stop thinking and start doing. Thanks for sharing.
@SayTHISantiRs9 күн бұрын
Me too! I want to do everything and get so excited. Then when I get some time, I'm so blank, yet overwhelmed, I just sit there...But I find if I start some meditative project, like this, it gets my juices flowing again! Good luck!
@JoanneGrant_Art9 күн бұрын
I completely understand what you're feeling. Overthinking and perfectionism can be such big obstacles, especially when you're just starting out. Perfectionism is a creativity killer. I had a serious case of it and completely changed the type of art I was doing because it was becoming unfun to try and be perfect. This neurographic art technique is really great when your feeling stuck. I do this when I don't have any ideas of what I want to draw/paint. Just draw the lines without thinking. Then take each space and imagine shapes that would fit into it. Don't think your doing anything wrong, you will be just filling the space with doodles. Every mark you make will be correct if you get outside your head and draw intuitively. I hope this helps you. I should make a video on this, because I am sure you are not alone in the struggle.
@caroleverest20498 күн бұрын
@@JoanneGrant_Artshe is not alone, and it sounds like I am not either. I try so hard to do what my current favorite artist did, and I always fail.
@JoanneGrant_Art8 күн бұрын
@@caroleverest2049 You're definitely not alone in feeling that way! Instead of trying to copy exactly, try focusing on the techniques they’re using and then adding your own style to it-what feels natural to you. That’s where the magic happens!🎨
