Nice job, those were great cards back in the day, I had a 290, still have it somewhere, looks like the cards worked pretty hard mining for many years, I bought a few ex mining cards and mined on few myself and they all still work but most are 2000 and 3000 series from Ngreedia and a few 6000 series AMD. Got a dead Gamerock 3080 that I bought for 100$ on marketplace a few months ago that I need to get to someday. Very nice of you to give them away.

Yeah the cards seem well built, but worn. I suspected mining as well, but they might have been working on something else as well, like folding-at-home or something. The gamerock with fake diamonds? That is one weird looking card :D

Hey, next time you use isopropyl alcohol to find a shorted component, try pulsing the power supply. It gives a clearer indication as the alcohol reacts in waves. Also, nice use of the 'calibrated wire' 😂😜👍

Hello, friend! I have this same monitor and I also love it, lmao! I keep replacing these faulty capacitors for a couple of years now. The problem is that I've just being dumb during the last replacement and I cut a white wire of the white conector that goes right next to the black power conector (it has 4 white wires and a black one). Do you have any idea how can I fix it? I thought about soldering the wire but it is really small and I have just a regular soldering iron. I also couldn't find the name of this conector so I could buy another one, cut all wires and crimp it again. Thank you so much for your time reading this, I'm kinda desperate to fix it! <3

Thats a different issue, but noise is normally caused by coils, as capacitor is slowly becoming a resistor and the higher ripple. Recap should help :)

@@reaganlewis9074 Oh so the display is from onboard graphics then. No detect is often caused by missing power rail. The card needs to be opened and measured for resistances, as well for voltages.

Nice job. Yes too much flux first time. Also would like to mention on this stype of preheaters people dont usually lift the gpus I think, because the heat transfer becomes poor, they just use like something in between the pcb and preheater like a very thin silicone mat or baking paper etc

Very good repair. I like to see how you improve with each new video. I think I've seen you use superglue a couple of times if I'm not mistaken. Please do not use it, it becomes very toxic when you apply heat, and it also comes off. You can use silicone for ovens or even better transparent UV mask to stick the new pad to the plate after cleaning the flux very well. The pad will not come off. That 3080 has been reborn (what a luck)

That's a lot of hard work. I'm not going to lie, for some reason I also like to do that kind of work sometimes. which economically do not make any sense but for personal satisfaction and to know how to do it just in case. Or maybe something is broken in my brain. But it doesn't seem like the 5000 series is going to be cheaper. And in case you have a 4090 with a similar problem, it is starting to make sense.

Good repair. Personally, I would prefer to hide that cable a little more. But it is only for aesthetics. I think you are correct in putting that card in a riser vertically. It is a very heavy card. I have one exactly the same with a broken pcb and this special board has a tangle of connections in that part in several layers of the pcb. Very difficult to repair. It even pads under the graphics chip and memories. Because the previous owner decided to connect it directly to the motherboard without holding it with anything. It was a very fun repair LOL
@DIYRepairHour

I know what you mean, I do have a black PCB mask, and I could hide the wire better now that the card was working fine for a while, running the latest games for over a week. But this was filmed as I go, so I wanted to make sure nothing else was affected in the area, like the display ports. Now that it is fully tested I'm tempted to hide it.
