Did you get the right unit? You had to buy the unit that has the correct harness for the Rockford Fosgate system, otherwise it won’t work.

@@nicobull yeah, I got the correct one. luckily the company responded quickly, and ultimately told me that I had to plug the OEM unit back in, turn the volume all the way up, unplug it and put the new one in again, and now it seems to work... but not when using the CarPlay app. not a big deal, but I had no idea that was necessary 🤷🏻‍♂️

just go to settings and set up steering wheel buttons. Select the action, then assign the button and confirm.

Yes, the new one works wirelessly. For the older versions you need to buy a dongle to connect the phone.

@@nicobull Bro, just to share how beautiful and awesome the Z4 really is.. if you stand on either side of the car, we know the designer placed a Z on the fender you replaced, also he placed the #4 on there as well incorporated into the design. Have a look or google it and it will jump out at you. One of the most iconic designed car that won may awards when it was introduced at the European Motor Show. I also mention the Carly OBD adapter.. not only does it do the auto top by FOB, with out a module but there are also options that can be turned on that are already in the cars computer.. To be entirely honest with you, on this unit it was good without the external mic and I was just using the built in one. Some other friends think it’s been better with the external mic. Right now, I have it with an external mic with their latest version. I put it up on the left corner above the driver side on the windshield and it’s hidden and everyone can hear me real good. I would suggest you testing it both ways and see what you like best.

I would also check the VIN with Carly at www.mycarly.com/brands/bmw/. sometimes the options at the factory are disabled, such as the roof by way of the key fob along with other options that weren't meant to to standard by the build sheet... enjoy.

@@royramdeen8864 the gaptech is much better. 3 presses on the key and it opens, instead of having to hold the key button down the whole time until it finishes its cycle.

Antonio Brown if you get an Android unit make sure that is has 4Gb of RAM and on Android 10 operating system. You can get the Tesla style for $500. Look into Aliexpress for better prices than eBay and Amazon.
