Why didn’t I think of this. You just saved a lot of material.

Never got the hang of this after decades of sewing. I still do blind hems by hand, with a catch stitch done between the inside of the hem and the inside of the pant leg (or whatever) so it's entirely hidden. If done correctly, with a fine enough needle, there are literally no stitch points visible from the outside (too obvious here!), and with a catch stitch, no pulling as this hemming method has a built in flexibility. Fussy maybe, but a better result. I refuse to use a serger too, only Hong Kong edging with hand-made bias ribbon to edge all seams.

? When you say both sides. Inseams or out seams or both?

I'm soo happy to find your channel. Subscribed right away after 2 short videos. Proper enthusiam and spot on presentation! I have so many questions: is 230 Wool better than a linen suit for Summer events? Does wool wrinkle like linen at all? I also heard of solaro and hopsack... How is the versatility of a wool suit compared to a hopsack suit? Thank you for your work!!!

I think the key would be snug shoulders not bulky, the. Have sides brought in on jacket, then have pant leg tailored to slim them down and asking for a slight break not a full break

I do not recommend doing this at all. It will not make it look or feel better and you risk destroying the coat.

Thanks for making the video. In my local we have to pay $28.00-38.00 for this kind of alteration. What’s worst is some tailors/seamstress just remove the cuffs, cut the sleeves sand reattach them without properly move the plackets.

Thank you for the video. How do I stop getting a pucker at the end of sewing. It seems to happen to me all the time. Yesterday I had to cut off a pair of dress pants as they were really to long. Hemming went well until the last inch or so and then I got that dreaded pinch of fabric.

Like all the other comments, I found this to be my moment of truth. I finally cracked the way to blind hem, after watching all the other useless videos, this one showed me how without lengthy talking. I've been hand sewing my hems but now I'm confident that I can blind hem successfully. Thank you

I’m tried your method which I’m sure I must be doing something wrong. I’m getting a puckered seam. The leg doesn’t fall smoothly. The suit pants I’m working on have a partial liner in the leg. Could that cause the pucker?

Wanted to know how much material you leave behind when hemming. I just went to Uniqlo to hem 2 dress pants. They were going to just cut and leave no material. So I told them most dress pants I’ve had hemmed there’s material left to let out in the future and the pant material helps weigh the pant legs. So the original pants had 4 inches of material and went with 3” to be safe. But they had no idea about altering pants and just was going to do it the quickest way. Oh and the reason I went to Uniqlo was bc they offer free alterations on their merchandise. Or $5. if you don’t have the receipt. But the rules are all over the place and depends who you ask.
@jacknjill300027 күн бұрын
So on the fly I told them to leave 3” material in the back, but what is the ideal length of material should you leave?
